With more than 30 years’ experience in the Water Industry, Jeremy is responsible for the management of innovation within the Pennon clean water businesses.
He has a keen interest in innovations that will transform how we manage our water networks, in particular smart metering, smart networks, artificial intelligence and IoT communications.
In addition to his role at Pennon, Jeremy is also the lead for the UKWIR national zero leakage project and is responsible for driving the UK leakage research programme.

Paul has more than 25 years’ experience with NGOs, charities and trade organisations, across the water and environment sector, including TV, radio and policy work.

Les is the Head of Contract, Commercial & Estates at South West Water Ltd with almost five decades of water industry experience.
Currently his focus is on ensuring the delivery of the £2.8 billion capital programme for the period 2025 to 2030. His previous roles have included operational and engineering positions, delivering a £500 million water mains rehabilitation programme involving 5,500 km of trenchless technology. Les has also represented the UK Water Industry in key standards bodies (BSI & CEN), and as chair of a WaterUK expert group.
Les holds an MBA from the University of Exeter and an MSc in Pipeline Technology & Network Management from the University of East London; as well as being Chartered and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
Dr Christopher Micallef Track Systems Programme Lead Coventry - VLR
Dr Christopher Micallef CEng is Programme Lead for Track Systems on Coventry Very Light Rail (VLR) and serves as a consultant to Coventry City Council.
An Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in systems design and optimisation underpins 20+ years’ experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder innovation across transport and advanced manufacturing, from research and systems engineering through to deployment.

Iain is Chair of the UKSTT Technical and Education Committee and is a member of the T&E Committee of the International Society for Trenchless Technology.
He is a Senior Research Fellow at IKT - Institute for Underground Infrastructure, the German not-for-profit engineering research institute that investigates extending the life of ageing sewer infrastructure and the management of urban drainage.
Nick Orman Principal Consultant - WRc Group
Nick is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Environmental Manager, and Principal Consultant with WRc, specialising in the design, rehabilitation, management and operation of drain and sewer systems.
His specialist areas include sewer inspection technologies, sewer deterioration mechanisms, sewer collapse analysis, sewer rehabilitation design.
Nick was Secretary to the European Standards Working Group CEN TC165/WG22 ‘Drainage outside buildings’ for over 25 years and is now a member of the UK delegation. He is also a member of CEN TC 165/WG13 ‘Renovation and repair of drains and sewers’.
He was a major contributor to the Sewerage Rehabilitation Manual (SRM) Sewer Risk Management website and was technical lead on the revision of the SRM Sewer Renovation Design Guide.

Sam Rawes
Engineer for Sewerage Networks - Wessex Water
Sam is a Senior Engineer within the High Level Assessment team at Wessex Water, investigating sewage flooding and pollution incidents, with a focus on sustainable solutions.
He leads the Infiltration Investigations team, having spent several years developing models and processes to understand the influence of groundwater on sewerage and increase the efficacy of inflow and infiltration inspections.
He has developed bespoke tools for assessing the long-term impact of sewer and manhole rehabilitation, particularly regarding the reduction in spill frequency at Storm Overflows. As part of this work, he has spearheaded the introduction of Whole Catchment Sealing trials within the Wessex Water region, to address sewerage catchments that are acutely affected by groundwater.
