s d n e r T Deeper Color Palettes

Deeper tones are making their way into 2019 wedding color palettes. Be on the look out for colors like merlot and emerald. We are also expecting to see champagne mixed in as an accent color.

Mix and Match Place Settings

Mix and match place settings are not only trending at receptions, but also on bridal registries. The possibilities are endless when it comes to showing off your style through your china selection. Mixing a solid plate with a patterned one can add so much to your place setting. Go bold and try pattern on pattern!

Bring In The Outdoors

Wow your guests by bringing the outdoors in. Greenery, and lots of it, is not only trendy but also budget friendly. To create an indoor-outdoor feel to your event; hang greenery for a dramatic focal point, or use delicate vines to “grow up the wall or venue staircase. Using a greenery clipping on each place setting is a simple and great way to tie in your place settings and centerpieces.

Mix and Match Groomsmen Attire Creative Gift Registries

Watch out ladies, the men are going to be making a statement in 2019. Mix and match groomsmen’s attire is on the rise and we could not be more excite about it.

Get creative with your gift registries by using apps like Honeyfund. Honeyfund allows you to register for your dream honeymoon! Your guests can contribute to your honeymoon festivities, allowing them your guests to feel a part, all while taking some of the financial stress off you. They have a fun app that makes it easy to get started!

B ow ties are fun and oh so classy!

Tip: A bow tie should fit snug around the collar

Small Plates

While buffets and plated dinners will never fully be a thing of the past, couples are changing it up a bit with small plates. Small plates give guests a larger variety of food choices without breaking the bank while creating a culinary experience. Guests are bound to find something that suites them with the option choices. e r t t o e l e h c a B Party Do's & Don'ts

Photography: Hannah Haston | Photography Venue: South Congress Hotel, Austin, TX Planning & Design: Taylor Bible Weddings | Florals: Lovely Leaves Floral Stationery: Studio W Designs

DO look for a location that suits the style of the bride. When we think of

bachelorette parties, we think of weekends full of drinking and wild shenanigans, but that may not suit your closest gal pal. While one night of drinking is always a blast, be sure to include other activities that bring you closer together as friends.

DO start an email thread early on to be sure everyone in the bridal party is

included in planning this epic celebration.

DO decide on a date and location quickly to be sure everyone who wants to attend

has time to take off work and save money for the event. Staying close to home may make the party more feasible for potential attendees. Some hotels offer rooms that sleep 8-12 guests and renting a space on AirBNB is always a cost effective option.

DON'T forget to talk about the financial requirements of each attendee. It is

common that attendees cover the cost of lodging and drinks for the bride over the weekend in addition to the cost of any activities they participate in. It is best to set a budget dollar amount made up of all of the costs over the weekend.

DON'T expect that every bridesmaid will be able to attend. Sometimes ladies

cannot make it and that is OKAY.

DO prepare an itinerary to keep the festivities on schedule and avoid conflict

from ladies slow at getting ready holding up the show.

DO buy fun gag gifts. They never get old and while many of these items may

get tossed after the weekend, they are still a fun tradition to uphold.

Pretty invites, matching desserts and color coordinated outfits make an event more festive, so don't forget to hire the pros. I f it is in your budget, hire a photographer to tag along on a pool day or group dinner for gorgeous photos of the celebration. 60 38

a r C d s t r o c s E Table Assignments &

Photography: Jade & Kyle Photography | Venue: Old Bethany | Printed Signs: Studio W Designs Calligraphy & Acrylic Sign: K. Dunks Creative | Floral Design: Laurel & Finch | Decor & Rentals: Celebrations Event Rentals Seating charts have long simplified finding your seats at a wedding. There are endless options for the display itself, but read more to learn the difference in seating charts by table and alphabetized seating charts and the difference between escort cards and place cards. Plus, find the best pros to make your assigned seating dreams come true. SEATING CHARTS BY TABLE: Seating charts by table are the most common. Titles and tables are listed at the

top of each section with an alphabetized list of names below. Guests search the board until they find their names and table numbers directing them to their seats.

ALPHABETIZED SEATING CHARTS: We love alphabetized seating charts! With alphabetized seating charts, the

guest names are listed in alphabetical order and a small table number is listed to the right of each name indicating at which table they will be seated.

HOW TO PLAN YOUR SEATING CHARTS: Information for seating charts must be turned in to your calligrapher or your stationery designer at least two weeks prior to your wedding date. To be sure they have time in their schedule

to produce your pieces, it is best to give them a heads up thirty days prior that you will be ordering pieces for a seating chart and agree with them upon a time that you will have your names and table numbers in to be sure there

is enough time for completion. You can also order matching table numbers from your calligrapher or stationery designer to be sure everything is cohesive.

WHO SITS WITH WHOM: Choosing who to sit with whom can be a tricky task. Ideally guests who know each other well are all sitting together. For guests who know no

one at your event, it is best that they be seated with other guests close in age or who

share similar professions or interests. Before outlining your seating chart you must

determine the types of tables you have and how many guests may be seated at each table. Round tables can seat either 8 or 10 guests while banquet tables typically seat 8. Remember that full place settings take up more space per guest.

ESCORT CARDS VS PLACE CARDS: Escort cards and seating charts are situated near the entrance to your reception and direct guests to numbered tables. Place cards are not required, but if you want guests to sit in specific seats at their assigned table, you can add place cards at each seat.

WHO TO HIRE: Hiring the right pros can make all the difference in the look and feel of your seating chart. Studio W Designs and Paperdoodles both offer graphic design services to create the escort cards or signage of your dreams. Kayln Dunks of K. Dunks Creative has many sign options available to rent and offers calligraphy services to personalize them.

A popular style for table assignment signs is printing a 24" x36" poster print and framing it or you can have it mounted to foam board and sit on an ease l.

W hether opting for traditional escort cards or choosing a more creative option like this custom-callig raphy acrylic sign, guests are sure to appreciate the ease of assigned seating.

LETS GET THIS

Party Started BEAUTIFUL fun

Photography: Dani Cowan Photography SHOULD YOU CHOOSE A DJ FOR YOUR WEDDING ENTERTAINMENT? THE IMPORTANCE OF LIVE MUSIC TO YOU AND YOUR FIANCE: If you are planning an event centered around live entertainment, the obvious choice is a

full band, but otherwise, an amazing DJ can keep the party dancing all night long. WHAT IS YOUR ENTERTAINMENT BUDGET: With weddings, many times bud-

get is the top deciding factor for the choices couples will make and it is important to be realistic about your budget. While bands typically run $5000-$7000, DJs

are much more affordable and packages from reputable DJs range $900-$1500 for ceremony and reception music and some lighting.

MUSIC VARIETY: If you know you love country music or are hoping for a 1920s

jazz-themed affair, a band can offer most songs in a particular genre. If you have a variety of guests or love a mixed playlist, a DJ can give you a mix of music in

different styles. BONUS: With a DJ, you can request a specific list of songs you love and guests can also make requests throughout the evening.

HOW DJ SERVICES ARE PRICED

HOURLY VS. PACKAGES: Many DJs charge by the hour for their services, typically $200-$250 for the hours they will be paying music. Others have set packages that include your ceremony and reception plus set up and break down.

ADDITIONAL SET UP: If your ceremony and reception are in different spaces, your DJ may require additional set up fees to set up both stations; this makes

sense as they have to come earlier, setup twice and bring additional equipment. LIGHTING & ADD ONS: While rental companies offer lighting to set the mood, many DJs do as well. Up lights, dance floor lighting and custom GOBOs

TRAVEL FEES: As with any wedding vendors, travel fees do apply. Hiring a local entertainer is always ideal to save money on travel and/or lodging if your event ends late in the evening.

WEDDING DAY MUSIC TIMELINES

An experienced DJ can help your planner or coordinator keep the timeline mov-

ing throughout the day. After set up, services typically begin thirty minutes prior to the ceremony with music playing as guests arrive followed by the ceremony music. After the ceremony, guests enjoy music during cocktail hour while the bridal party takes photos. Your DJ will announce you as the new Mr. and Mrs. upon

your entrance to the reception. Some couples choose to have important dances such as the first dance and father-daughter dance immediately upon entering

while others opt to begin with the meal. Either way, your DJ will be sure guests are informed with what is happening. After dinner, toasts will be given over the

mics provided by your DJ sometimes paired with cake-cutting. Dancing comes next and will last throughout the evening with a break for bouquet and garter

tosses. At the close of your event, the DJ will announce how to proceed with any

final dances or your grand exit.

IMPORTANT DANCES & WHAT TYPE OF SONGS TO CHOOSE

THE FIRST DANCE: Your first dance song will stay with you for years to come. Every time

you hear it, it will remind you of your wedding day and the special vows you share. For this

reason, it is best to select a song that brings you joy and has some sentimental value. Some couples choose a song that has been important in their relationship. For example a song

that came on the radio during their first date or the first song they ever danced to together.

Others choose a song that is popular the year they get married to forever take them back in time to that special year of their lives.

THE FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE & THE MOTHER-SON DANCE: Parent dances are a

long-standing wedding tradition. Choosing songs for these memorable dances is a bit more difficult than choosing a first dance song. Two rules of thumb to follow are to A) discuss the song with the parent involved and be sure they will be comfortable dancing to your selection and B) be sure the song you select is not romantic or

Blake Hunter, 1st Class Entertainment

referencing couples in love. Romantic dances with parents make for an awkward few minutes in front of all of your guests.

THE LAST DANCE: New on the wedding reception scene, last dances can go one of two ways. Last dances can be romantic

including just the two of you on the dance floor for one more romantic song with guests standing around or if

you prefer a more private last dance, guests can clear the space to prepare for your exit and the two of you can dance alone in the center of the dance floor reminiscing in the last few moments of your special day. The other option is blasting Journey "Don't Stop Believin'" (or another equally fun song) for everyone to enjoy.

WORDS FROM OUR FAVORITE LOCAL ENTERTAINERS

JON WOOD: "At RRtheVoice, I offer competitive rates and pay meticulous attention to detail to ensure that your event is unforgettable. From simple background music for a church

reception for 50 to rocking out an extravagant banquet hall all night long or announcing high

school playoff games for crowds of 10,000, I have you covered. Your musical wishes are my command, and you can guarantee that your wedding party and any other announcements will be made clearly, enthusiastically and correctly."

CARLO H. BANDA: "Wall of Sound Productions is more than a DJ service. We pride our-

selves on recognizing you as an individual, and providing an experience for you and your

guests that reflects your personality. It's beyond having speakers and flashy lights. It's the

culmination of a partnership between you the client and us, the consummate professionals.

ment, photo booths and more! With over 16 years of experience, we know how to get the

past five years, so they are rather new to the party scene. Photo booths offer guests a fun option for breaks during

dancing and allow them to take home a keepsake of your

wedding in the form of a tiny strip of photos or even a digital file of images from a fun night. Most photo booths also print double the images allowing you to keep a strip from each

group of photos as a keepsake. Guests can sign the back of the second print as a fun alternative to a guest book as well. Unlike traditional favors, guests will actually want to keep these fun photos. Average photo booth packages include

set up and break down and three hours of photo booth fun.

Some photo booths such as The Candid Camper offer digital photo galleries of all of the images your guests take.

PROPS & PERSONALIZATION Most photo booth companies provide a variety of props for

guests ranging from funny glasses to feather boas and big hats to mustaches. A fun option to add

to your photo booth props is a custom sign with your wedding hashtag or names and date on it. If

you are having trouble coming up with your own wedding hashtag be sure to ask friends and family for suggestions. Some websites such as WeddingWire have hashtag generating tools which

are simple and easy to use. Thinking outside of the box and using any combination of first names, last names, nicknames, the city or state, the date and your hobbies can yield unique results.

THE CANDID CAMPER

Owned by the Gingeriches, Daniel and Shelbye, The Candid Camper mobile photo booth is sure to be a hit at any wedding. Shelbye always

thought it would be fun to revamp a vintage

camper, but never knew exactly what she would turn it into. After coming across a photo booth Shasta online, with the help of her husband

Daniel, The Candid Camper was born. It is definitely a “family business”. The Candid Camper is the perfect mix of “elegant” and “laid back”. Every detail of the interior is be light and airy,

and the overall aesthetic of the materials used inside marries the best of modern, rustic, and bohemian styles together. There is a shiplap

inspired backdrop, raw and rustic wood flooring, modern, customizable, decorative details, along with a subtle, 2-tone paint combination on the

exterior, that makes The Candid Camper compatible with any style wedding or event. Visit their website at www.thecandidcamper.com today to book your photo booth package.

WHY HIRE A PROFESSIONAL BARTENDER?

MOST VENUES REQUIRE IT: Venues want all of your guests to have a memorable and safe evening. Because the space hosting the event is often responsible for traffic acci-

dents that may occur if guests leave the event intoxicated, most venues require a TABC certified bartender to serve all alcohol to be sure that no guests are over served.

SIGNATURE DRINKS: In addition to keeping your guests safe, a professional bartender can help you determine the perfect signature drinks for your event style. Schedule a meeting beforehand to discuss drink options and what to purchase.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE: From icing down the beer to popping corks on champagne, your professional bartender will be sure everything is in order for a fun filled evening and serve delicious drinks to satisfy your family and friends.

NICOLAS OLIVARES, PROFESSIONAL BARTENDER

We have spent the last 5 years honing our craft. We specialize in speciality beers and cocktail mixology. Across the board, our staff is knowledgeable and passionate about what we do. We

provide top-notch service and create an experience at your event. We can't wait to serve you!

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BAR

THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL REQUIRED: There is no faster way to put a damper on a

party than to run out of alcohol behind the bar. To be sure you have enough alcohol, fol-

low this simple equation: To get the number of drinking guests, subtract the children from your total guest count then multiply the remaining number by .67 as typically only 2/3 of your guests will drink. Multiply the number of drinking guests by the number of hours of your reception and voila! You now have the number of required servings. For example

you are inviting 165 guests total, subtract 15 children for 150 and multiply that by .67 to get 100 and then multiply that by 5 hours (of your reception) to get 500 servings.

BAR GLASS BASICS: While opting for clear plastic solo cups is always an option, rent-

ing wine glasses and bar glasses gives a more luxury feel to any event. Confetti Rentals and Celebrations both offer glass rentals. Be sure to ask your bartender what the additional fee is for bussing tables and re-racking rental glasses.

BOTTLES OR KEG: We are definitely always a fan of beer bottles. Unlike with a keg,

additional glasses and a tap are not require, plus you can have far more beer options. ICE, MIXERS & GARNISHES: Most bartending services charge for ice, mixers and

garnishes. They not only need to cover their costs, but also be paid for the time involved in picking up and prepping these items. Be sure to discuss this at your initial meeting.

Pretty Postage Photography: Hannah Haston Photography

Stationery sets the tone for your wedding and a curated stamp collection in

the top right-hand corner of your envelope completes the picture-perfect suite. How many stamps do you need? Currently envelopes weighing under one ounce require fifty cents of postage, but the best way to be sure you have enough before ordering stamps is to take one invitation suite to the post office and have it weighed. Special embellishments such as wax seals can require hand-canceling as they cannot always go through machines. Hand-canceling protects your pretty envelopes from the possibility of being damaged going through the USPS machines and costs an additional twenty-one cents. While small RSVP envelopes require full postage (fifty cents), RSVP postcards offer a price break and mail at thirty-five cents. Where can you order curated stamps or custom stamps? Stamp companies like the Little Postage House offer stamp curation meaning they will match stamps to your wedding style and personalities combining a mix of stamps adding up to the correct amount of postage. The service typically costs $1 per envelope. Many collectors on Etsy sell stamps and custom photo stamps can be ordered from PhotoStamps.

The staff at Georgio’s Bridal in Waco are friendly and knowledgeable. Begin by calling to set up an appointment. Invite your best friends and closest family members or come alone and keep it a secret. Be sure to bring the type of shoes—whether heels, flats or boots—you intend to wear at your wedding. It doesn’t have to be the exact pair, just a similar height. Other essentials include nude panties and a strapless bra. If you have any questions, call ahead. Once you’ve selected your gown, it will be ordered and you'll be notified once it comes in to set an appointment for alterations. Bridal portraits may then be scheduled. Be sure to bring your dress back to the salon to be steamed and prepped prior to the wedding date.

When choosing a venue, there are many things to consider! Selecting a venue with ceremony and reception spaces that match your wedding style is a given, but there are other important things to consider. Bridal Suites and Groom's Quarters, bathrooms, parking, lighting and pieces such as bars and built-in decor all have an impact on the look and feel of your special day.

82

TH E BOOK OF B E AU T IF U L W E D D INGS

WHERE WILL YOU GET READY? If you're planning on spending the weekend at a hotel or getting ready at home, then a Bridal Suite and Groom's Quarters may not be a priority. If you plan to spend the day at your venue, be sure to check out these spaces to be sure they can accommodate your wedding party. BATHROOMS Probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of your wedding festivities, but available bathrooms are a MUST for every wedding.

The Book of Beautiful Weddings is proud to showcase over a dozen beautiful spaces including Vintage Oaks Ranch, The Phoenix Ballroom, Old Bethany, The Grove, Hidden Creek at Stonehaus, High Pointe Estate, The Chapel at Caliber Oak, La Rio Mansion, The Vineyard at Florence, The Venue at Inn On The Creek, The Venue at Lilly Pond, Baylor Club, The Inn at Salado, Valley Mills Vineyard and The Mercantile.

PARKING IS IMPERATIVE Parking is something we tend to only consider when it doesn't exist. The first impression of your wedding is indeed the drive up to your venue and the parking lot. Easy, accessible parking makes for a smooth entry so guests can focus on what's important---celebrating your special day! If your venue has no parking, you can opt to hire a shuttle service or valet parking.

THE BAR, LIGHTING, FURNITURE, TABLES & CHAIRS The bar is where guests convene between dinner and dancing. Your bartenders will need space to create yummy cocktails and chill beer and wine. Well-lit photographs are also a requirement for any wedding and lighting sets the mood for your event whether it be cafe lighting or custom chandeliers. Built-in bars and lighting will save you money. If your venue doesn't have a bar, decorative lighting, or supply tables and chairs consider renting from a rental company; Confetti Rentals and Celebrations are our local favorites.
