Color Trends

Blush and greenery were practically staple colors at every wedding in 2017. While those two are here to stay, 2018 is bound to mix it up a bit. The Pantone Color of the Year has not yet been announced, but here’s what we know so far:

BELLA REESE

Earth Tones

Earth tones including rust, forest green, copper, stone, terra cotta, mustard and taupe will be front and center in the new year pairing perfectly with already chosen blush and greenery color palettes.

Don’t be afraid of color!

If you’re a vibrant kind of girl, 2018 is your year. Bold colors are coming: hot pink, yellow, magenta, oranges, purples and blues.

RIE S LO VE D ME MO

Black is the New Black

Expect to see dark moody colors return to weddings incorporated through fabrics, cakes and even florals.

2018 Over-the-Top Entrances

An extravagant entrance is a great way to “WOW” guests when they walk through the doors setting the tone for a magical evening. Your rental company can add gorgeous draping to your walkway or entrance. Floral installations are here to stay: Ask your florist to price creating a frame of florals around your door or overhanging greenery to draw attention as guests enter the space.

Perfectly Placed Placesettings

Menus are not just for magazines! In 2018, place settings are set to include menus and place cards to complete the look. Your stationery should tie through your event from save-the-dates, invitations and programs to menus, table numbers and escort cards. Whether hiring a calligrapher or ordering through your stationery designer, be sure to have your RSVPs in early enough (30 days) if you plan to have a seating chart with escort cards as each card will have a different name and table number. Menus are an easier option to give each setting a “finished” look.

G oing in Circles The Grass Is Not Always Greener

Pampas grass is characterized by tall stalks with soft, feathery tufts at the top. The tufts are a golden blonde and add the perfect texture to romantic, rustic or bohemian weddings.

We’ve seen hoops suspended in the air above tables accented with greenery. Next up: Circular ceremonies. Round arches called moon gates will be a top seller for 2018 wedding ceremonies. Whether overflowing with florals or accented with greenery, saying “I do” in front of these gorgeous structures is sure to impress your guests and leave you with beautiful and dramatic images. Circular seating and semi-circle altars are other ways to incorporate one of our favorite shapes. TH EB O O KO FB EAU TI FU LW ED D I N G S. COM

Consistency is key. Look through full wedding galleries and/ or blog posts from each photographer you are considering. Anyone can take a single beautiful image, but choose a photographer who can show you image after image of individual weddings capturing entire days of details, loveliness and emotion. Composition and light make up photography style. Composition is defined by the angles and distance portrayed in images. Photographers should offer a mix of close, emotional images and wide shots showcasing not only the subjects of the photograph but also the setting in which events are unfolding. Light can give an image a sweet, happy feel or moody, romantic feel if your photographer is skilled in capturing it. Avoid trendy filters and presets as they are sure to make your image seem dated in just a few years. Styles we love include traditional portraiture, fine art/film and photojournalism. Budget is important with every aspect of wedding planning, so be sure to set your wedding date far enough out to be able to budget for a professional photographer.

New flavors to come in Salado!

Photography by: Elise King

The Barton House is a new restaurant and caterer in Downtown Salado. Clinton Harwell, owner of Pignetti’s Italian Restaurant, recently purchased the restaurant previously known as The Range. He is bringing back the original name of the establishment, The Barton House. The Barton House was built in 1866 by Dr. Wellborn Barton and his wife Louisa. The Bartons moved from South Carolina to Texas during the Reconstruction era, and Dr. Barton began a flourishing medical practice. In 1997, the house was purchased and turned into The Range Restaurant, adding a 1200 square foot kitchen as well as office and storage space. As we approach 2018, The Barton House is planning for delicious hors d’oeuvres, entrees and desserts for the restaurant menu and event catering. Clinton and Chef Robert Hernandez will bring their knowledge and expertise to the restaurant ensuring amazing taste, quality and service. If you are looking for a unique establishment with rich history and incredible iries contact The Barton House at Pignetti’s to set up a private tasting. qucuisine,

BEAUTIFUL pro tips

HOW SHOULD YOU CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING BEAUTY STYLE?

BE.YOU.TIFUL SALON: Take in consideration all aspects of the wedding—the

dress, hair type, indoor vs. outdoor venue, and the overall look you feel the most comfortable in.

MAKEUP BY CALLEE KELLEY: Don't go trendy, go timeless! At the end of the

day beauty is subjective, so choose what makes you feel beautiful. What season

you’re tying the knot in is important and consider what makeup looks are best for your face and eye shape.

KATY REDDELL BEAUTY: Go with what you feel most comfortable and pretty in. For some people that's up, for others that's half up or completely down. Be open to recommendations and have a trial with your stylist.

SOUTHERN BELLES BEAUTY: Consider your dress and the weather, but choose a style you will feel comfortable and beautiful in all day.

SHOULD YOU LET YOUR BRIDESMAIDS EACH CHOOSE THEIR OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP STYLES? BE.YOU.TIFUL SALON: As a bride, letting your bridesmaids choose the best

style that fits them according to your ideas and inspiration allows for less conflict and happier bridesmaids.

MAKEUP BY CALLEE KELLEY: Personally, I feel that the bride should dictate

the makeup looks for her bridesmaids; if every girl wants something different, it proves difficult and uniform styles look best.

KATY REDDELL BEAUTY: Most bridesmaids are happier when they have the

option, but it's okay for the bride to choose everyone’s style especially if she is paying for the beauty services.

SOUTHERN BELLES BEAUTY: Similar styles photograph best, but individual styles can be adjusted for different hair lengths & textures. Also, consider the bridesmaids' dresses when choosing.

WHAT WILL BE IN STYLE FOR 2018?

BE.YOU.TIFUL SALON: Soft curls and waves, and very romantic and loose

Makeup By Callee Kelly

updos are center stage for 2018. Flower crowns are still in style as well.

MAKEUP BY CALLEE KELLEY: In makeup, I'm seeing a lot of shimmer on the lids and a sexy smoked winged liner.

KATY REDDELL BEAUTY: I think the loose, romantic updos will be in, but I also see old Hollywood glam making a comeback with a more modern feel to the styles.

textures (think braids) versus a sleek, smooth finish.

AIRBRUSH OR TRADITIONAL APPLICATION MAKEUP?

BE.YOU.TIFUL SALON: We use traditional mineral makeup. We really like showcas-

ing clients' natural skin like freckles unless they specifically ask for them to be covered. Traditional makeup also offers faster application great for large bridal parties.

MAKEUP BY CALLEE KELLEY: I'm an old fashion kind of gal: Give me cream + liquid

foundation and sponge over airbrush, anyday. I feel that I have more control of coverage and blendability with the traditional application.

KATY REDDELL BEAUTY: Definitely airbrush. It's 12+ hour wear, waterproof and sweat proof. It's also very buildable coverage so it's ideal for everyone.

SOUTHERN BELLES BEAUTY: Airbrush—It has a flawless look and lasting finish per-

fect for the Texas heat.

HOW MANY MONTHS IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR WEDDING BEAUTY SERVICES? BE.YOU.TIFUL SALON: The ideal time is 4 to 6 months in advance allowing for your stylist team to be prepared and schedule the appropriate number of stylists for the big day.

MAKEUP BY CALLEE KELLEY: It's best to book your makeup services 3-6 months before your date to allow time for a trial!

KATY REDDELL BEAUTY: Book 6 to 12 months out, but in advance for spring and fall weddings. SOUTHERN BELLES BEAUTY: Book 6 to 12 months in advance please.

WHICH COMPANY IS BEST FOR YOU?

BE.YOU.TIFUL SALON: We love weddings! We love the creativity that accompanies

brides and bridesmaids and sharing such a special day with our clients is a huge honor.

Beyond the hair and makeup, we strive to make the experience for our brides exceptional. In addition to being featured in many magazines and blogs, we have been awarded Best Bell County Wedding Stylists in 2015 and 2016.

MAKEUP BY CALLEE KELLEY: My family has been in the bridal industry for over a

decade, so catering to brides is second nature and makeup is the sunrise of my soul. I've had the opportunity to apprentice under several celebrity makeup artists in Los Angles and build relationships with industry leading professionals.

KATY REDDELL BEAUTY: I'm not a company that recruits and sends out stylists. I work beside my trained artists and usually have a hand in the finishing details of each look.

We've worked with many different brides and have the training and resources to be both versatile and creative when it comes to creating the perfect look for any bride.

SOUTHERN BELLES BEAUTY: We offer a traveling beauty bar and come equipped

to provide full hair and makeup. We are licensed cosmetologists and use only the best

products on the market and will go above and beyond to make you feel beautiful on your wedding day. We also offer natural and organic cruelty-free product options.

light it up

BEAUTIFUL event lighting

Photography: Cortney B Photography | Written by: Carlo Banda, Wall of Sound Productions

Want to set your event apart and really make a statement? The best

way to do that is to make some room in your budget for lighting. Take your linens, table

toppers, cake and venue to the next level with properly placed light-scaping. Add a dramatic effect to the night with having bursts of color shooting up the walls or a flood of color

across your ceiling. Make your dance floor

come alive with the right mixture of lighting. The possibilities are endless.

Let everyone see and make your cake table a

focal point with pin-spot lighting and up-lighting. Make an even bigger statement with a custom

monogram projected on the wall directly behind

the table. You can use pin-spot lighting to highlight your head table as well.

There are a number of ways that a professional

light designer can enhance your evening. Lighting goes beyond the dance floor. Take the time to

speak to a professional and design the event of your dreams.

Event Coordination BEAUTIFUL behind the scenes Photography: Rachel Whyte Photography | Venue: La Rio Mansion

Hiring a qualified event coordinator is one of the easiest steps to take to ensure a stress free wedding. Here is what you need to know. 54

TH E BOOK OF B E AU T IF U L W E D D INGS

What is the difference between event planning and event coordination? Hiring an event planner means you are hiring someone to walk you through each step of the

planning process. Your event planner would help you choose a venue if you don’t have one, select your vendors, choose which goods/services to go with and may assist in the design aspects of your special day. Most full planning packages will include event coordination. All planners are coordinators, but not all coordinators are planners. Event coordination is a service for brides planning their own wedding who want someone to step in towards the end of the planning process or just on the day of. An event coordinator will take over managing all of the details so you can relax and enjoy your wedding.

What does an event coordinator do? Your event coordinator should meet you for an

initial meeting or walkthrough of your venue, review your vendor contracts and create a timeline

for your wedding day. Before the wedding he or she will share the timeline with your vendors to be sure everyone is on the same page. Your event coordinator will also oversee your rehearsal and

be sure your wedding party is comfortable with the ceremony. In addition to sending your nearest and dearest down the aisle on wedding day, your event coordinator will manage vendors as they arrive and deliver/set up and be sure everything runs smoothly in accordance with the timeline

throughout the evening. Coordinators are typically the first to arrive and last to leave your wedding.

What should you expect to spend on event coordination in Central Texas? Coordination services typically range from $1000 to $1800 depending on popularity of the event coordinator and experience level. A popular event planner/event coordinator is likely to charge more because of their well-known status. Being in business many years doesn’t necessarily correlate to more experienced, so be sure to ask about the number of weddings and style of weddings your event coordinator has been a part of.

How should you choose? Choosing an event coordinator doesn’t have to be a stressful

task. Visit websites of local event planners/event coordinators and look for reviews online. In scheduling consultations, look for someone who understands your vision and whose personality fits yours. Your event coordinator will be in close proximity to you much of your wedding day. Be sure to review what exactly is included in each

Illusion necklines come in a variety of styles from sheer necklines and low backs to long sleeves. Many times the fine netting is embellished with lace or jeweled appliquĂŠs. The thin, sheer fabric is almost see-through adding a bit of mystique but still very modest.

Heavily embroidered veils are stealing the show on designer runways like Oscar de la Renta and Dior. Georgio’s Bridal has over fifty veil styles to choose from in a variety of colors ranging from simple and sweet to dramatic and embroidered.

The staff at Georgio’s Bridal in Waco are friendly and knowledgeable. Begin by calling to set up an appointment. Invite your best friends and closest family members or come alone and keep it a secret. Be sure to bring the type of shoes—whether heels, flats or boots—you intend to wear at your wedding. It doesn’t have to be the exact pair, just a similar height. Other essentials include nude panties and a strapless bra. If you have any questions, call ahead. Once you’ve selected your gown, it will be ordered and you'll be notified once it comes in to set an appointment for alterations. Bridal portraits may then be scheduled. Be sure to bring your dress back to the salon to be steamed and prepped prior to the wedding date.

Sleek designs of heavy satin and Mikado silk are in style now. These dresses feature very simple accents leaving all of the attention on you.

Intimate Gatherings BEAUTIFUL small events

Whether you’re hoping for a smaller guest count to have more time with guests, to save money or to upgrade your guests’ experience, there are so many benefits to a more intimate gathering. Here are some pros to having a smaller wedding or event.

70

TH E BOOK OF B E AU T IF U L W E D D INGS

More Personal Intimate gatherings are defined as weddings with less than 100

guests in attendance. Fewer guests allows for more time to interact with each of your guests throughout the event. In the days of receiving lines, bridal parties would form a line outside of the church and spend sometimes hours shaking the hands of and hugging each guest who lined up to congratulate them. Thankfully this tradition has disappeared as couples (and guests!) are eager to get the party started, but now many times the bride and groom don’t have a chance to even say hello to all of their guests. A remedy to this issue is to invite fewer people and have a more relaxed wedding.

Saves Money Budget is the number one reason brides opt for smaller guest lists. Your venue,

photography, event planning or coordination, entertainment, beauty services and dress are all

fees / prices that remain constant regardless of how many people are on site, but some costs will dramatically decrease with fewer guests. Trimming the guest count is a surefire way to cut costs on catering, alcohol, linens, place settings, centerpieces, stationery and favors. Famous words of wise planners: “When over budget, the best solution is to limit your guest count.”

Upgrades Optional When inviting only your closest friends and family,

it’s much easier to go the extra mile to make each and every person in

attendance feel special. A survey by WeddingWire this year sites Guest Experience as one of the top considerations for couples planning weddings in 2017 and 2018. Ways to upgrade guest experience are vast ranging from extravagant table decor and upgraded bar options to personalized gifts and private transportation. Catering is one of the most common upgrades; couples with fewer guests find it more affordable to offer individual passed hors d’oeuvres or a prime steak dinner. Options are endless for offering just a bit “extra” when guest counts are low.

The Beautiful Weddings Network members with options

for smaller guest counts include: Hotel Indigo Waco, The Cellar at Pignetti’s, Hilton Garden Inn, The Baylor Club, Market at the Mill, Flint Creek Country Estate, La Rio Mansion, The Venue, Vintage Oaks and The Inn at Salado. The Phoenix Ballroom which boasts one of Central Texas’ largest indoor spaces offers gorgeous draping to section their space for smaller ceremonies and receptions.
