Paris local division, France — NUC Electronics Co., Ltd. (brand name Kuvings), a global leader in premium juicer appliances, today announced a significant legal victory in Europe following a ruling by the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Paris.
On May 2025, the Paris Local Division of the UPC ruled in favor of NUC Electronics(brand name Kuvings), revoking Hurom’s European patent EP 2 028 981. The court found that the asserted patent lacked inventive step (obviousness) and dismissed all infringement claims brought by Hurom against NUC’s products(brand name Kuvings).

Hurom had filed a lawsuit alleging that Kuvings’ flagship products infringed on its patented juicer technology in the European market. In response, NUC Electronics(Kuvings) contested the infringement claims while simultaneously filing for a revocation of Hurom’s patent based on lack of inventive step.
After careful review, the UPC concluded that the claimed invention was obvious to a person skilled in the art, referencing existing prior art and previously known juicing techniques. As a result, Hurom’s infringement claims were dismissed in full, and its patent was declared invalid.
