JASON COLEY Husband, Father and Real Estate Leader

By Anna Valencia Tillery

Known for having one of the largest real estate firms on the Treasure Coast, Renee and Jason Coley began their real estate career in 1999 as investors. Looking back at how far they have come, the mother and daughter part of the Coley team thought a Father’s Day article would be a great way to highlight their journey.

In 2004, Renee pursued her real estate license and made a leap of fate to quit her job and pursue real estate full time. Starting at a boutique office, Renee found success quickly with the mentoring her brokers offered. Deborah and Ron Ray, still family friends, helped her overcome her shyness and encouraged Jason to pursue his license. He got licensed in 2005 and immediately Team Coley was formed. “What we did not know then was how much we would complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses,” Renee recounts fondly.

In 2012 Renee got her broker’s license and set out to open their own brokerage. “Starting with the name, we knew we wanted our kids involved. So, we sat around the dinner table with our children, Aaron and Savannah and brainstormed until they came up with Atlantic Shores Realty Executives; ASRE. Unknown by many, the A is for Aaron and the S is for Savannah.”

Though Renee fell in love with Port St. Lucie back in the late 80’s visiting her grandmother during school breaks, the Coley’s life in the Treasure Coast has changed since opening their first office in St. Lucie County. “We loved our home in PSL but when we invested in a new construction property in Vero, I decided that I liked the new house better, so I convinced Jason to rent our home and we moved to Vero Beach. Later, when we were looking to expand our office, Vero was the natural choice,” divulged Renee.

Celebrating more than a decade as broker owners of ASRE, they now have three offices one in each Treasure Coast county with upwards of 200 associates. Unlike many other real estate brokerages, the Coley’s never recruited agents. Rather, the growth was 100% organic. “I think the charm of a family run brokerage appealed to others like seeing our children helping us stamp postcards and stuff envelopes for mailings.” Coley recalls. With growth, new roles were made. Barbara, Renee’s mom, processes commissions. Christine, Renee’s sister, oversees all aspects of compliance. Aaron, their son, lives in Washington, D.C. and helps with data entry and analyzation remotely. Whereas Savannah is an active, licensed Realtor and works with Jason and Renee in the daily operations of Team Coley and Atlantic Shores. Renee states, “It feels good to know the quality time our family gets to share both in and out of work. Though one of the biggest perks of a family team, is being able to come in the office and see my handsome husband holding his grandson, Weston Michael,” Renee beams with pride.

Savannah shared, “Working with my dad is so special. One thing about him is you always know where you stand. He is always honest, even if that means telling you something you don’t want to hear. It doesn’t matter if you are his daughter or a customer; I really respect that. As a leader, he always gives us everything we need for success. His support is apparent and in return it’s impressive to witness the loyalty he earns.”

Always the first to make someone laugh with a cheesy dad joke or sarcastic remark, Jason takes his role as husband and father seriously. Aaron confides, “Dad is always making sure that we take time to do family get togethers and plan for vacations, he really enjoys being present in the moment and making us feel loved.” As a manager and team leader, he brings that same humor and commitment to these relationships ensuring all agents feel appreciated and have access to the tools they need to be successful. Case in point, some realtors have been with them since they opened their doors ten years ago. As supporters of the community, ASRE enjoys helping local charities. Two of the organizations the offices support annually are United Against Poverty and the Treasure Coast Food Bank raising money with a Turkey Feather Drive.

Jason Coley’s booming voice, matched with a big smile and wit is something that makes him so memorable. Yet, it is the family he has made a priority in his life that are the ones who are honored to be able to call him theirs this Father’s Day and all year-round.
