NEW YEAR’S EVE December 31st The most impressive display of the year is the fireworks over Grace Bay Beach on New Year’s Eve. Many of the larger resorts on Providenciales put on their own fireworks display, and when the clocks hit midnight, the entirety of Grace Bay lights up!

It’s not just fireworks. There are often several beach bonfires going (the largest is usually at Ricky’s Restaurant), and sky lanterns can be seen floating away during the whole night.

MASKANOO Boxing Day | December 26th Maskanoo is a street festival held on Boxing Day, and combines elements of masquerades and traditional Bahamian-style Junkanoo.

Maskanoo is hosted by the local hotel and tourism association, and the event takes place in the evening on Grace Bay Road in the heart of the shopping district. Craft and food vendors also offer a wide selection of goods.

CHRISTMAS VILLAGE December 22 One of the most anticipated annual Christmas events in Anguilla is the Christmas Tree Lighting in The Valley. It is a spectacular sight to see, a Festival of lights illuminating the entire Coronation Avenue’s large mahogany trees.

CHRISTMAS IN QUEENS PARK December 25th The park, known as an oasis of serenity, becomes a hive of activity on Christmas Day. After Christmas church service, it’s a tradition for Barbadians to gather at the park and show off their finery. In addition to the fashion extravaganza, spectators are entertained by the Royal Barbados Police Band, who have been playing in Queens Park on Christmas Day since 1907!

OLD YEAR’S NIGHT December 31st Old Year’s Night as it’s known in Barbados, is a special evening for locals.

Typically the celebration lasts until dawn with the brave and hearty heading to the East Coast for sunrise. Start with dinner in Holetown and then head to the First and Second Street Parties where you can bring in the new year with great music, dancing and a whole lot of rum punch!

If you're looking for something more low key, grab a bottle of champagne and a picnic and head to the beach before midnight and celebrate as the sky is lit up with the fireworks that can be seen from the big west coast hotels.
