A Message from the Managing Director Wow, how time flies. At TRAXX we are entering our 10th year of operation. It seems like less than half that time since the Traxx Concept was born in a coffee shop in South Melbourne, in late 2008. Proudly, we have grown every year since then. And, WOW, how our industry has changed in that time. The big suppliers continue to get bigger and bigger via acquisition and generic growth, leaving it tougher for the next tier. Supply lines have become so short as a result of the internet. In the 10 years since the inception of Traxx, some 45% of supply to our industry is done by overseas suppliers selling directly to end users, OR, by end users making direct contact with overseas suppliers, in an attempt to bypass what are perceived to be “middle person” suppliers. Of course, this makes it difficult for smaller companies to exist. So, how have we at TRAXX managed to do just that... • • •
We have made a conscious decision to compete. We have analysed OUR weaknesses and those of our opposition. And of course, we analysed both ours and their strengths.
Invariably we found that the bigger most companies became, the worse service levels became. We found that we had to specialis e in awesome service levels wherever humanly possible. We do not always succeed but we practice improvement daily.
We also found that the bigger companies became, the less flexible they became. Again, we made a conscious decision to specialise in providing “solutions” to job, machine and tool specifications that others would not touch. It was also identified that we must be QUICK TO RESPOND to technology changes. Remaining somewhat small and flexible allows us to do just that, enabling us to provide tools that DO make a difference. By surveying our clients, we were clearly informed that the days of expecting to “see” visiting sales staff was over. “Please communicate with us via multimedia on new and interesting things. Keep improving your website so we can do research in our precious time out (normally late at night), and we will be in touch”. This has become our Mantra. It is clearly not for everyone, but nevertheless, critical to our success. We do not wish to be one of the big two or three in our industry. But what we do want to be is a respected supplier of innovative tools and services that make our customers money. We look forward to sharing the NEXT 10 years with you. Regards,

It is the very latest development in our range of core barrels, featuring our RAT (Random Array Technology) patented “shark tooth” style. This segment has been introduced to complement the existing range of XX2 Core Bit segments. The Shark tooth segment has received rave reviews from all those who are testing. “On average I can usually get about 10m of core drilling per barrel, but with the GWS Barrel I have been able to double the amount and am sitting at 20.5 metres drilled and it’s still going! It just chews through 50mpa concrete at such a high speed I was able to drill 250mm deep in just 63 seconds” When we asked if he was happy with that the comment back was “Happy, I’ve just drilled 37 x 115mm diameter holes x 250mm deep in 50mpa concrete, in 64 minutes. THE CORE EZ
The Core EZ System is a new way of coring. It is easy to use, lightweight and there is no need to measure offsets! The Core EZ is a specialised hole drilling machine that has been designed for the concrete industry. Drilling holes horizontally, overhead or in hard to reach areas and elevated platforms is now easier than ever. The Core EZ has a unique mounting guide in the center of the bit that keeps the drill perfectly straight even through rebar. The core is then retained for easy removal and safety. One person can easily transport, set up and operate the Core EZ reducing the manpower it takes for traditional core rigs. The unit can drill holes from 76.2mm (3”) to 254mm (10”). The entire unit set up fits into a rolling carry case and weighs only 22 Kilograms.
Traxx supplied Davison Earthmovers in Royal Park, South Australia with the Core EZ for an interesting job they had. Davison Earthmovers needed to drill multiple holes through a water pipe made from fibre cement, and needed a tool that would help to drill clean holes at any angle through the curved surface as they couldn’t do this job with just any regular core drill.

And when the Core EZ is used with the K50 Water Slurry Rings it reduces operator exposure to silica and slurry waste when drilling small diameter holes in concrete.
The Core EZ was fast and easy to set up on the pipe and cored the holes out effortlessly. It was easy to assemble and disassemble the machine, and due to its light weight and small size it was easy to manoeuvre and drill around the curved surface.
