“Proudly Canadian”: Travelweek’s latest virtual conference celebrates advisors on Travel Advisor Appreciation Day

TORONTO — Canadian pride was on full display at Travelweek’s latest virtual conference, held yesterday, May 7, to coincide with Travel Advisor Appreciation Day.

As part of Travelweek’s hugely popular ‘Future of Travel’ series, launched during the pandemic to help advisors navigate through the crisis, the ‘Future of Travel: Proudly Canadian’ event celebrated all things red and white at a time when many are putting Canada first.

To watch the show, click here.

“Travelweek is proudly Canadian – Canadian to its core, born and raised in Canada,” said Devin Kinasz, Travelweek’s publisher during her opening remarks. “We’re very proud of our Canadian roots, and we’re also proud of how resilient this industry is. So, today’s event is going to showcase different products and destinations, all to help boost your selling power.”

Here is a sample of what each speaker discussed during the show:

COLIN C. JAMES, CEO — ANTIGUA & BARBUDA TOURISM AUTHORITY

The twin-island nation of Antigua & Barbuda has plenty of exciting developments in the pipeline, including a new Nobu hotel to complement Barbuda’s Nobu Restaurant, the only one in the Caribbean, as well as a Nikki Beach

Resort and Residence on the famed Jolly Beach, which broke ground last year. Moon Gate Antigua also opened its doors earlier this year on the eastern side of the island, while Royalton Chic Antigua – home to overwater bungalows – had its grand opening in 2024.

“There really is a lot of new and exciting product for Canadian visitors and agents to explore,” said James, who also noted the recent opening of a new airport in Barbuda that’s capable of receiving larger jets. “We have really positioned the destination to take advantage of all that’s happening in the travel

trade, really positioning us on an upward trajectory.”

To thank travel advisors for their ongoing support for the destination, James announced that the Black Pineapple Awards – named after “the sweetest pineapple in the world, found only in Antigua – will return this year in late December, following the hugely successful inaugural event in 2024. The awards celebrate the destination’s top 100 travel advisors; last year’s event welcomed 25 advisors from Canada.

Also new this year will be the destination’s first Travel Agent Advisory Board – more details to come.

WENDY PARADIS, PRESIDENT, & AVERY CAMPBELL, DIRECTOR, ADVOCACY & INDUSTRY RELATIONS — ACTA

Although bookings are down to the United States amid the ongoing trade war, the good news is, Canadians are still travelling – they’re just going to alternative destinations. The Caribbean and Mexico are what’s hot right now, particularly in the winter months, plus of the 300-plus

travel agency leaders and travel advisors who ACTA has met with over the last four weeks, many are reporting huge interest in Europe and Canada, says Paradis.

“We certainly have seen that our travel agencies and advisors that may be focused on group travel, specifically to the United States, have been impacted. But for the most part, including our business corporate travel agencies, they’re finding that so far, there has been very little impact on bookings and on finances. It’s been more of a move, a change in where travellers are choosing to travel,” she adds.

When asked what his message would be to travel advisors at this time, Campbell stressed the importance of being adaptive.

“We really hope that the situation between Canada and the United States resolves soon. But in the event that it doesn’t, it’s really important that businesses look to diversify their book of business to alternative destinations, including Canada,” said Campbell.

STEPHEN COTTER, MANAGING DIRECTOR — CIE TOURS

At a time when Canadians are venturing further afield for their vacations, CIE Tours, which specializes in Ireland and Britain, is seeing an increase in both inquiries and bookings in recent months, said Cotter.

“There are a lot of distractions at home, and so there are opportunities for European destinations to capitalize on that. We’re here and we’ve got a big welcome ready,” he said.

Calling travel advisors the “backbone” of the business, contributing 80% of overall bookings, Cotter highlighted the many ways CIE shows its appreciation. These include up to 18% commission, a generous $800 booking bonus on groups, a 30% FAM discount for agents and a companion on any tour, a full suite of tools and marketing materials, two Canadian BDMs that offer full support, and a special draw for Travel Agent Appreciation Month whereby agents can win a spot on a new tour or daily prizes.

CHRISTIAN LEIBL-COTE, EVP GLOBAL SALES — COLLETTE

Born in Quebec City, Leibl-Cote – who played college football in the United States and later in the CFL for the Ottawa Renegades and Montreal Alouettes – knows a thing or two about Canadian pride. When asked what’s new at Collette for 2025, he made sure to mention – in addition to the new destination of Albania – the ‘Charms of Quebec’ itinerary, during which his hometown is prominently featured.

“Canadians do travel within Canada and in their backyard, and Quebec City is one of the most beautiful

cities. There, it’s like going back to Europe 400 years ago and the food is fantastic. I always want to mention Quebec City because that’s where I was born,” he said.

BRUCE POON TIP, CEO AND FOUNDER – G ADVENTURES

When asked what kind of impact he’s seeing from the ongoing trade war and economic climate, Poon Tip said the company has seen “a little bit of softness” in the market for April following a hugely successful period from January to March. But this shouldn’t be a cause for concern, he added, saying that travellers are taking a wait-and-see approach.

“We’ve seen this historically, like when Brexit happened or where there’s a major market shift. Travellers will hold onto their dollars as they wait and see it out. It doesn’t stop them from travelling, but they will take their time and won’t book as far out in advance so booking patterns change. And we’re starting to see that now,” said Poon Tip.

As for where travellers are heading to in the current climate, Poon Tip says the best-selling countries right now are Peru, Ecuador, Galapagos, South Africa, Japan and Morocco, which has seen a near 80% increase in bookings. Canada, too, has seen a slight increase, with more Canadians choosing to travel in their own backyard.

MAUREEN BARNES-SMITH, VP, SALES & MARKETING, CANADA — UNIQUE VACATIONS CANADA INC. AFFILIATE OF UNIQUE

TRAVEL CORP, WORLDWIDE REPRESENTATIVES OF SANDALS RESORTS AND BEACHES RESORTS

When addressing the current trade and economic climate and how that can impact travel, Barnes-Smith reassured travel advisors that “this, too, shall pass.”

“We have seen the gamut of everything, from SARS to trade wars. But I want to say to our Canadian travel advisors: stick with it, stay true to yourself, stay true to your craft and remember that the Caribbean is here for you and that we have everything you need.”

To help advisors boost their selling power, Barnes-Smith noted several promotions for the Canadian market, including Instant Savings on a variety of resorts. Sandals South Coast in Jamaica, for example, is offering up to $900 in savings on a single vacation when booking through Air Canada Vacations.

As for advisor perks, BarnesSmith noted that advisors can earn Points to Paradise – points they earn when making any Sandals or Beaches booking – as well as exclusive ACV&Me points on every

single booking they make with Air Canada Vacations.

“We’re having a Canadian moment –we have shown, as Canadian travel experts, that we’re going to get through this and come out stronger than ever,” she said. “I’m excited to not only welcome our customers, but also our Canadian travel advisors to our resorts in the Caribbean.”

ARMANDO MENDONÇA, TRADE LIAISON, VIENNA TOURIST BOARD AND PRESIDENT, AMPM CANADA

Vienna had its best-ever year in 2024, with nearly 19 million overnight stays, said Mendonça, and this year is expected to be even better. Massive celebrations are being planned for the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss’ birth, including various indoor and outdoor installations and shows at 69 locations throughout the city, tours of the refurbished House of Strauss and more. A full calendar of events can be found at https://www.wien.info/en/now-on/ johann-strauss.

But aside from arts & culture, which Vienna is well known for, Mendonça shared his insider tips that travel advisors can pass on to clients, both first-time and returning visitors. During a recent visit in November 2024, he became fully immersed in the city’s thriving culinary scene,

from Michelin-starred restaurants to charming vineyards. His two must-eat spots?

“My favourite café restaurant is in the Fine Arts Museum in Vienna – it’s my go-to every time I go to Vienna. And also, Café Gloriette at Schönbrunn Palace!” said Mendonça. Mendonça also recommends renting an e-boat on the Old Danube, something he’s never done outside of Vienna. “It’s about half an hour outside of the city, you can have up to eight people on the boat. You have lunch on them and you’re cruising along the Danube with spectacular views of the city and surroundings. I thought it was really cool,” he said.

Travelweek thanks all of its key sponsors for their ongoing support, including: Globus, G Adventures, Visit Atlantic City, Quark Expeditions, Myrtle Beach, Railbookers, Riverside Luxury Cruises, Jamaica Tourist Board, Nassau Paradise Island and Spectacular NWT.

Antigua and Barbuda launches streamlined entry, exit system

Antigua and Barbuda has launched a new and modern arrival and departure system designed for travellers using V.C. Bird International Airport.

The launch of ArriveAntigua.com was developed by the Antigua and

Barbuda Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation, and Investment, in collaboration with the Antigua Department of Immigration and the Antigua and Barbuda Customs and Excise Division.

“We are committed to continuously improving the visitor experience in Antigua and Barbuda. The launch of ArriveAntigua.com is a major step in creating a smooth and seamless experience from the moment visitors arrive, allowing travellers to spend less time in the terminal and more time enjoying our 365 stunning beaches,” said Charles Fernandez, Antigua and Barbuda's Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Transportation.

The fully integrated, electronic system significantly enhances convenience and efficiency for visitors, he added.

Key features of ArriveAntigua.com include:

• Simple, dynamic interface: No app download required. Travellers can quickly complete the online form using their mobile or tablet devices.

• A utomatic passport scanning: By simply taking a photo of their passport, visitors allow the system to automatically populate personal details, simplifying the process.

• Quick questionnaire: Within 72 hours of their scheduled flight, travellers answer a few brief questions about their stay and customs declarations.

• Effortless arrival and departure: Upon completion, travellers receive a QR code, which can be saved via screenshot, added to an iPhone Wallet, or accessed through email confirmation. This QR code expedites processing at Immigration and Customs, ensuring a swift entry and exit experience.

The new system will soon expand to include seaport arrivals and private jet passengers at Fixed Base Operators (FBO) across Antigua and Barbuda.

Travellers to Antigua and Barbuda are encouraged to complete the online form at ArriveAntigua.com.

Visit Atlantic City and DO AC unite under one brand

Visit Atlantic City has officially integrated the DO AC brand under its unified name, aligning leisure and meetings marketing into a single, cohesive strategy.

The announcement was made during Visit Atlantic City’s Annual Meeting, marking a significant step in the destination’s brand evolution.

This integration streamlines the city’s promotional efforts by uniting two formerly separate brand voices under the Visit Atlantic City banner. The move is designed to strengthen the destination’s appeal for both leisure travellers and business event planners.

“Uniting the DO AC and Visit Atlantic City brands under one umbrella marks a pivotal moment for Atlantic

City,” said Gary Musich, President and CEO of Visit Atlantic City. “The move allows us to speak as a stronger, united voice, streamlining our efforts in amplifying Atlantic City’s appeal as a premier destination for leisure and business travellers. It also enables us to deliver a greater economic impact for our community.”

The rebrand traces back to 2022, when the organization transitioned from Meet AC to Visit Atlantic City. In 2024, further integration brought together customer and content management systems, enabling the launch of a unified website: VisitAtlanticCity.com. The site now features a booking engine for the first time in 13 years and reflects the city’s new brand identity through consistent logos, colours and typography.

New seasonal campaigns were also unveiled at the Annual Meeting, including “Where Celebrations Live On” and “Create Memory Making Moments,” both informed by research

conducted by Future Partners.

“We are thrilled to launch new leisure advertising in the marketplace. The creative testing results are encouraging, with interest in visiting Atlantic City and enthusiasm for leisure travel to the destination both on the rise following exposure to the tested creative,” added Karina Anthony, Executive Director of Marketing of Visit Atlantic City.

The integration builds upon leisure efforts previously undertaken by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), with Visit Atlantic City assuming full responsibility for promoting the destination.

In 2024, Visit Atlantic City hosted 206 meetings and events, generating over 290,000 room nights and contributing more than US$353 million in economic impact.

Riverside Luxury Cruises has multigenerational appeal

As demand for multigenerational travel continues to rise, Riverside Luxury Cruises is making river cruising more accessible – and attractive – to families of all ages.

With no minimum age requirement, connecting suites and a wide range of onboard and onshore experiences, Riverside Luxury Cruises is positioning itself as a top choice for multi-generational travel. The cruise line is inviting families to experience Europe together, in comfort and style.

“Riverside offers an ideal experience for affluent, savvy, multi-gen travellers. There is no easier way to see Europe while catering to different ages, interests and travel experience,” said Jennifer Halboth, CEO of Riverside Collection Americas. “Driving through Europe, or taking trains with the family in tow, will simply steal time away from your precious vacation. Instead, book a Riverside cruise,

unpack once—extra important with kids in the mix—and let the crew cater to your family while you discover multiple cities and countries together in an easy yet luxurious trip.”

Unlike other river cruise lines that restrict younger guests, Riverside welcomes families without a minimum age limit. “This is by design. We don’t have a minimum age limit because we want to say yes to every family that wants to experience Europe in the uniquely Riverside way,” Halboth said.

Families can book connecting suites, and larger suites can accommodate a cot or crib upon request. A third guest sharing a room travels at a 40% discount, and children under two cruise at no charge.

Excursions are just as inclusive. Each port offers a variety of activities, from traditional walking tours to hands-on experiences like cooking classes or visits to the Cologne chocolate museum. Active families can take part in hiking, biking or kayaking adventures. Complimentary bikes and e-bikes are also available for independent exploration.

Onboard amenities also cater to guests of all ages. Each ship has an

indoor pool with resistance jets, ideal for both play and exercise. In the Atelier lounge, fresh-made bubble waffles with assorted toppings and a full ice cream counter are sure to be a hit. Families can also enjoy homemade pretzels, charcuterie and sweet treats at the buffet, or opt for hot chocolate and barista-made lattes.

Evenings are equally inviting, with fresh popcorn available before happy hour and 24-hour room service that lets kids dine in their suite while parents enjoy a quiet restaurant meal. Every suite includes a dedicated butler to assist with personalized touches.

Popular with families are the Christmas Market cruises in November and December. Sailings along the Danube, Rhine and Main rivers offer holiday charm, with stops in festive cities like Vienna and Cologne. Parents can sip glühwein while children enjoy hot cocoa and skating under the twinkling lights.

Travel advisors can book clients through the dedicated portal at www. Riverside-Cruises.com/TA, where more information is also available.

Share the love, get rewarded with the Jamaica Travel Specialist Program

The Jamaica Tourist Board is encouraging travel advisors to “share the love and get rewarded” with the Jamaica Travel Specialist Program.

Available at oneloverewards.com, the program is where advisors can earn points for every booking made, which can then be redeemed for gifts and rewards. Once they complete the training program, advisors can record their bookings and start accumulating points. Based on the number of all qualified bookings entered into the booking tracker during a calendar month, there will be a monthly cash reward to the top-booking Jamaica agent of 10 or more bookings. Plus, points can be used to purchase items from the One Love Rewards store.

Advisors who complete the program will be certified as a Jamaica Travel Specialist or a Jamaica Weddings & Honeymoons Specialist, plus earn 3 CEU credits from The Travel Institute. In addition, they’ll receive a listing on VisitJamaica.com, gain access to Jamaica’s monthly e-newsletter featuring island-wide deals, enjoy a 50% discount at Club Mobay & Club Kingston (airport arrivals/departures), and the top 50 advisors and their companions will be invited to

the annual ‘One Love Affair’ Awards Ceremony.

The Jamaica Tourist Board recently engaged with Jamaica Travel Specialists during a Bob Marley lyric travel trade contest on Feb. 6. Over 450 travel advisors took part in the contest, with the winning advisor taking home a three-night stay at the Courtleigh Hotel and “Suites in Kingston, Jamaica.

Globus survey reveals top touring trends for 2025

More than 25,000 past Globus and Cosmos guests have shared what’s next on their travel radar – and the results point to a growing demand for immersive, flexible and expertly guided touring experiences.

According to the recent Wish List survey, the most sought-after destinations for future tours include Ireland and Scotland (24%), the South Pacific (24%), Italy (18%), Africa (17%), Greece (16%) and Iceland (12%). From the castles of the Highlands to the glaciers of Iceland, today’s travellers are prioritizing rich, story-filled itineraries in far-flung and iconic locations.

Globus is meeting that demand with a wide array of touring options, including classic itineraries, off-season Escapes, Undiscovered journeys to lesser-known locales, and

the company’s increasingly popular Small Group Discovery tours.

“We’re making small groups a big deal,” said Steve Born, chief marketing officer for the Globus family of brands. “With fewer travellers, more immersive experiences and unparalleled access, our Small Group Discovery tours redefine what it means to truly tour a destination. This isn’t just about seeing the world –it’s about experiencing it in a way that’s richer, deeper and completely unforgettable.”

Half of those surveyed said they’re willing to pay more for the benefits of small group travel. Globus responded by launching 50 new Small Group Discovery tours last year, with an average of just 15 guests (18 outside Europe), offering travellers exclusive access to experiences in places like Italy, Japan, Costa Rica and Kenya.

Flexibility is also top of mind. Nearly 70% of survey respondents said they want more freedom while on tour,

and 93% ranked the ability to choose excursions as important or very important. Globus’ Choice Touring vacations cater to this demand by offering two to three “Choice” days on every itinerary, allowing guests to personalize their experience at no extra cost.

The desire to get off the beaten path is another strong trend, with 51% of respondents seeking out undiscovered destinations and experiences. Globus’ Undiscovered tour are designed to deliver just that – lesser-known locations with fewer crowds and more authentic moments.

Travelling with a partner (52%) remains popular, while others are opting for family and friend groups (26%) or solo adventures (18%). To support solo travellers, Cosmos offers a 50% discount on the single supplement for select tours.

Green Spain gains ground as top ecotourism destination

The northern Spanish regions of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country — collectively known as Green Spain — are experiencing strong growth in tourism, with a record 17 million visitors in 2023.

That figure represents an increase of four million over 2019, marking a notable shift in traveller interest toward nature-focused experiences.

Unlike the sun-soaked beaches of southern Spain and the Mediterranean coast, Green Spain is celebrated for its lush landscapes, rugged mountains and vibrant cultural heritage.

From the dramatic peaks of the Picos de Europa to the sweeping vistas of the Cantabrian coast, the region offers a distinct alternative for nature lovers, hikers and cultural travellers alike.

Key cities such as Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo and Bilbao add to the region’s appeal, offering historic architecture and world-class cultural institutions like the Guggenheim Museum. Green Spain also caters to food lovers, with traditional dishes and locally sourced products drawing culinary tourists year-round.

New initiatives continue to boost the region’s profile. One major project is the Grand Route of Green Spain, a multi-section itinerary that crosses four autonomous communities. The route connects must-see stops including San Sebastián, the Rioja Alavesa

wine region, the bay of Santander, the caves of Altamira, Oviedo, and numerous picturesque fishing villages along the Cantabrian Sea.

Also underway is the Ecotourism Corridor, an experience linking 26 protected natural areas along the Cantabrian coast. The initiative is designed to support conservation efforts and foster sustainable tourism that benefits local communities.

With its blend of natural beauty, cultural richness and a growing commitment to sustainability, Green Spain is quickly becoming a leading destination for Canadian travellers seeking immersive, eco-friendly European experiences.

TravelBrands’ Cal and Côté set to retire this summer

TORONTO — Two well-known names in travel are gearing up to say goodbye, for now – but both say they plan to stay in the industry as independent consultants.

Elvi Cal and Lina Côté are retiring this summer, with Cal’s departure set for July 31, and Côté’s on June 30.

Nathalie Tanious, President & CEO of H.I.S. Canada Travel Inc. (parent company of TravelBrands) announced the news last week.

“I truly believe that the success of any organization is built on the strength of its people, and today we honour two of the greatest I’ve had the privilege of working with throughout my career. Elvi and Lina’s commitment, passion, and leadership have not only shaped who we are, but also paved the way for where we’re headed,” said Tanious.

She added: “Their legacy is woven into every success we’ve achieved, and their influence will continue to resonate long after they’ve moved on. It has been a joy to work alongside them, and I know I speak for everyone when I say that our

accomplishments are deeply tied to their contributions.”

Tanious thanked Cal and Côté “for everything you’ve given us. I wish you both a retirement filled with relaxation, joy, and, of course, travel.”

Currently TravelBrands’ Senior Vice President, Product & Commercial, and with the company for 38 years, Cal has been a cornerstone of TravelBrands, spearheading product innovation, building strategic partnerships, and leading with integrity and passion, said Tanious.

She added that Cal’s deep expertise and collaborative approach have played a pivotal role in defining TravelBrands’ success. “For many, Elvi has not only been a leader but also a mentor and a trusted colleague. While Elvi will retire from his full-time position, he will continue to support TravelBrands as an independent consultant. His continued involvement will provide invaluable insights and ensure that the strong relationships he built over the years are sustained.”

Côté, Director of Sales, TravelBrands, has been with the company for 23 years. “Lina has been an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of working with her. Throughout her 43- year career in the travel industry,

with nearly half of that time spent at TravelBrands, she has been a steadfast advocate for travel agents. Known for her calm demeanour and results-driven approach, Lina has earned the respect of her colleagues and peers alike. Her dedication to supporting and empowering travel agents, along with her genuine care for people and deep respect for the travel industry, have been central to her success.”

In her retirement Côté will also continue to contribute as an independent consultant.

“TravelBrands would like to extend its heartfelt thanks for their dedication, hard work, and the lasting legacies they leave behind. Their influence has touched not only TravelBrands but the travel industry as a whole. We invite all industry partners, travel agents, and friends to join us in celebrating their careers. Share your congratulations, reflect on meaningful moments, and help us honour Elvi and Lina by wishing them continued success, joy, and fulfillment in their well-earned upcoming retirement,” says the company.

The announcement also noted that updates about new appointments and leadership responsibilities will follow.

Uniglobe expands global

network with addition of ITP agencies

VANCOUVER — Uniglobe Travel has strengthened its global footprint with the addition of over a dozen new travel management companies (TMCs) across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Europe regions.

The expansion follows Uniglobe’s acquisition of the contracts from the International Travel Partnership (ITP) Network, a global agency consortium known for its account networking and hotel programme. The new agencies joining the Uniglobe family will benefit from enhanced technology platforms, broader supplier offerings, a significantly larger partner network and increased support from Uniglobe’s head office in Vancouver and its regional base in London. The London team will also see new additions, with Hans Rudbeck Dahl and Kristel Ruinet – both formerly with ITP – joining to help support the transition.

“This move expands our network by adding agencies in a number of key markets, which benefits our existing member agencies, the members we’re welcoming from ITP and their collective clients,” said Martin H. Charlwood, President and COO of Uniglobe Travel International. “We’re also pleased to be able to add two key staff members to both facilitate this transition and enhance our support teams for the long term.”

With the addition of the former ITP agencies, as well as several other agencies that have joined over the past quarter, Uniglobe Travel now reports an annual system-wide sales volume of approximately US$4.5 billion. The network spans TMCs in 50 countries and services clients in more than 100 countries, supported by a team of over 4,500 staff members.

Victory Cruise Lines’ Victory I christened in Toronto

TORONTO — Victory Cruise Lines christened Victory I in Toronto last month.

It was a proud return for the cruise line, led by founder and CEO John Waggoner, who closed on the purchase of the 190-guest Victory I and sister-ship Victory II last year.

As reported in July 2024, Waggoner, who founded American Queen Voyages (AQV), bought Victory I and Victory II from auction in early 2024 after the ships were put up for sale in the wake of AQV’s bankruptcy proceedings. AQV had acquired Victory Cruise Lines in 2019. AQV meanwhile was acquired by Hornblower Group. In February 2024 Hornblower announced AQV’s bankruptcy and its own acquisition.

“THANK

YOU TO EVERYONE WHO BELIEVED IN US”

Both ships were purpose-built for the Great Lakes. Victory’s mandate is all-inclusive, small ship, coastal cruising on The Great Lakes and Canadian coasts.

Victory Cruise Lines has 33 departures in 2025 that hit all five Great Lakes in one voyage. The

cruise line is also the only company to dock at Chicago’s downtown Navy Pier, where Victory II will be christened May 12, 2025.

Both ships will operate 10-15 night voyages from Chicago, Toronto, Milwaukee and Montreal now through October.

“As we celebrate the return of Victory Cruise Lines to the Great Lakes, I must reflect on the amazing feat by an incredible team that has brought this vision to life once again,” said Waggoner. “Thank you to everyone here, as well as those not in the room today, that have believed in us and this dream to share our passion for cruising here on the Great Lakes.”

The christening ceremony took place onboard in the Compass Lounge, first honouring the U.S. and Canada with the singing of the national anthems, as both share the Great Lakes.

Remarks were made by Destination Toronto VP Destination Development

Kelly Jackson, National Museum of the Great Lakes Executive Director Kate Fineske, Victory Cruise Lines Chief Operating Officer David William Kelly, and Waggoner.

Instead of champagne, the ship’s godmother Emily Coleman, daughter of John and Claudette Waggoner, broke a bottle of Crown Royal Canadian Whisky on the ship’s bow, officially christening the vessel with the skyline of Toronto in the background.

Victory I’s inaugural sailing is the cruise line’s most popular itinerary, 10-nights between Toronto and Chicago including a pre-cruise hotel with ports of call including Port Colborne (Niagara Falls), Cleveland, Detroit, Sault Ste. Marie, Mackinac Island and Escanaba, Michigan. Allinclusive, double occupancy

Victory Cruise Lines fares start at $4,999 per person.
