Welcome
In times of uncertainty, the world can feel both smaller and more fragile. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has already led to thousands of flight cancellations, sending ripples across the global travel ecosystem. Airlines in the region, in particular, are navigating significant operational and financial pressures as airspace closures, disrupted routes, and rising fuel costs reshape the rhythm of international aviation.
While these immediate challenges are undeniable, history reminds us that the aviation industry is remarkably resilient. Demand rarely disappears, it adapts. Routes shift, priorities realign, and travellers, ever curious, continue to seek connection and discovery. Though global passenger growth may soften in the near term, the long-term trajectory remains firmly supported by an expanding middle class, particularly across Asia, and an enduring appetite for exploration.
Moments like these also invite reflection. Amid disruption, there is value in pausing, seeking out stories that inspire, provoke thought, and celebrate the ingenuity that defines our industry. It is in this spirit that we are proud to present the latest edition of Amenities.
Once again, we have uncovered a rich tapestry of creativity behind the products that accompany passengers on their journeys. From thoughtfully curated collaborations with globally recognised design and cosmetic houses, to deeply personal expressions of culture through local artistry, airlines continue
to tell their stories in compelling and distinctive ways. These divergent approaches are not in competition, but rather complementary reflections of identity, heritage, and ambition.
Looking ahead, the current climate may prompt airlines to delay new tenders, as existing programmes stretch further in response to reduced flight frequencies. Yet even in this pause, there is opportunity, time to rethink, refine, and reimagine what the passenger experience can be.
As ever, it is our privilege to bring these stories to you. In a world that feels increasingly complex, creativity remains a powerful constant, one that connects us, uplifts us, and reminds us why we continue to travel in the first place.
Looking ahead, we are delighted to turn our attention to a milestone moment for our industry. The 2026 TravelPlus Awards ceremony will take place on the evening of Tuesday 14th April at the Radisson Blu in Hamburg. This year, we celebrate 20 years of excellence, collaboration, and innovation, marking two decades of success, valued partnerships, and unforgettable journeys. We look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you.
Warm regards

IndiGO
the Cabin with Collectible Jacquard Blankets elevates
In its most considered expression of premium travel yet, IndiGo unveils a series of collectible jacquard blankets within its new long-haul Business Class, an understated but decisive statement from India’s largest airline. Rather than subscribing to gilded excess, the carrier refines luxury through craftsmanship, texture, and narrative
At the centre of the experience lies the blanket: a richly woven jacquard rendered in vibrant hues and intricate patterns. Conceived as a limited series of distinctive designs, each piece reflects a dialogue between IndiGo’s expanding global reach and its Indian design sensibility.
In collaboration with TDHIL India, one of India’s largest manufacturers of onboard textiles, the collection underscores a commitment to quality, provenance, and textile expertise. The tactility is deliberate, soft yet substantial, decorative yet deeply functional.
Presented folded with precision, secured by a playful “Hug Me” card and accompanied by a design booklet, the blanket transcends its in-flight utility. It becomes a keepsake, an object of memory and movement, intended to travel well beyond the cabin.
While bespoke pillow covers, refined sleep accessories, and subtle world map motifs enhance the broader aesthetic, it is the collectible jacquard blanket that defines this new chapter. Here, luxury is not proclaimed; it is woven, quietly confident, culturally rooted, and unmistakably modern.

Upgrade the Journey. Pour the Difference.
From
to Expectation ulg ce
Once an indulgent add-on, highspeed Wi-Fi now shapes the very meaning of comfort and class at 35,000 feet.
There was a time, not so long ago, when boarding an aircraft meant surrendering to silence. The cabin became a world apart: suspended between continents, blissfully unreachable. Disconnection wasn’t frustrating; it was simply part of the ritual of travel.
Today, that stillness feels almost unimaginable.
In just four decades, in-flight connectivity (IFC) has evolved from novelty to necessity. In premium aviation, it is now a defining feature. Wi-Fi ranks alongside, refined dining, plush bedding and curated wellness as a benchmark of modern luxury. For discerning travellers, connectivity is no longer a perk - it is expected.
The Cultural Shift: Free Is the New First Class
The most powerful transformation has been cultural rather than technical. Complimentary Wi-Fi has been gaining momentum for years, but the shift accelerated dramatically when Starlink positioned fast, free connectivity as the default, not an upgrade.
What was once a paid add-on, limited by portals and data caps is quickly becoming standard, even in economy cabins. Passenger expectations have recalibrated almost overnight. Seamless digital continuity is now woven into the luxury equation.
The aircraft cabin is no longer a pause between destinations. It is an extension of life on the ground, productive, social and always connected.
Enter the LEO Era
Behind this evolution lies a technological leap: Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations. Operating closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites, LEO networks offer faster speeds and dramatically lower latency, enabling streaming-quality connectivity at altitude.
By the end of 2025, more than 700 commercial aircraft were flying with LEO-only or hybrid multi-orbit systems a clear signal that the industry has entered a new phase.
At the forefront is Starlink, the satellite arm of SpaceX. In under two years, it has secured high-profile partnerships with airlines including Emirates, International Airlines Group, United Airlines, Qatar Airways and Lufthansa, reshaping the competitive landscape in the process.
“Connectivity, in this vision, becomes the backbone of digital transformation rather than a standalone amenity.”
The Next Contender: Amazon’s Vision
Waiting in the wings is Amazon with its ambitious LEO initiative, Project Kuiper.
Kuiper approaches aviation not merely as a connectivity provider, but as a digital infrastructure partner. Through integration with Amazon Web Services, it aims to connect in-flight systems to cloud-based analytics, predictive maintenance platforms and real-time operational tools.
For airlines, the implications extend well beyond passenger streaming speeds. The promise is smarter fleet management, enhanced aircraft health monitoring and datadriven commercial strategy. Connectivity, in this vision, becomes the backbone of digital transformation rather than a standalone amenity.
The challenge is timing. Kuiper remains in early deployment, and its aviation track record is still developing. For now, many carriers see it as a strategic investment a glimpse of tomorrow rather than today’s standard.
The New Luxury Standard
What is clear is this: luxury in the skies has evolved. Silence is no longer imposed; it is optional. Passengers may still choose to disconnect but they no longer have to.
In an age where time is the ultimate currency, the ability to remain seamlessly connected from take-off to touchdown may be the most valuable upgrade of all.
Above Beyond
The Art of Premium Economy Comfort
Long-haul travel has entered a new golden age. No longer defined by mere inches of recline or incremental upgrades, Premium Economy has emerged as aviation’s most quietly transformative space a realm where design thinking, cultural storytelling, and tactile indulgence converge.
At 35,000 feet, refinement is no longer reserved for the pointy end of the plane. It is woven into blankets, stitched into pillows, and expressed through texture, tone, and tradition.
In this elevated cabin category, bedding is no longer an afterthought. It is a philosophy. The following three examples showcase how leading airlines are redefining comfort through craftsmanship, culture, and contemporary design.

Together, they create a refined interplay of craftsmanship and identity, proving that comfort can carry memory.
AIR INDIA:
Heritage Woven in Flight
Step into Air India’s Premium Economy cabin and a quiet narrative unfolds. The aesthetic is restrained yet resonant, drawing on India’s architectural legacy.
Each seat is dressed in a jacquard blanket bearing the “Vista” pattern, inspired by the arched Jharokhas of Indian palaces, a subtle homage woven into every journey. A softly lustrous cushion, finished with a Mandala motif in signature Deep Red, adds beautiful depth and symbolism.

RIYADH AIR: A Blank Canvas for Modern Luxury
Riyadh Air treats Premium Economy as a design statement. The cabin feels gallery-like, where every textile is intentional. Generously proportioned pillows provide sculpted support, while duvets in contrasting textures, matte against sheen, structure against softness, create quiet dimension. Guided by a refined palette, the space whispers rather than shouts.
Luxury here lies in sensation, not excess.
NEOS:
Contemporary Indulgence in the Sky
Neos approaches Premium Class bedding with clean, contemporary assurance.

Icelandair’s On-Demand Amenity Kits
With its new “on demand” Business Class amenity kits, Icelandair transforms a familiar travel ritual into a curated, conscious experience, blending art, sustainability, and personalized luxury.
Passengers select only the items they truly want, leaving behind the standard pre-packed approach that often produces waste.
Created in collaboration with acclaimed Icelandic artist Inga Elín and produced by longtime in-flight partner skysupply, the Saga Premium and Saga Premium Flex kits are a study in Nordic minimalism.
Reusable cotton drawstring bags feature Elín’s abstract patterns inspired by Iceland’s landscapes: Lækur (“Creek”) flows like water, while Bylur(“Blizzard”) captures the kinetic energy of a snowstorm. Subtle labels note the natural inspiration and the artist’s name, and a textile tag bears the Icelandair logo, transforming each bag into both a functional companion and a keepsake.
The on-demand concept extends inside, where guests choose from a curated selection of essentials - sleeping mask, bamboo toothbrush dental kit, earplugs, socks, and skincare by Verso Skincare each kit assembled individually by cabin crew.
Designed to endure beyond the flight, the cotton bags double as chic carriers for cosmetics, jewellery, or travel essentials. By merging art, personalization, and conscious design, Icelandair elevates more than a journey, it delivers a thoughtful, lasting luxury experience that lingers long after the plane has landed.

Design Dining
How Airlines Are Elevating the in-flight Table
In the world’s most celebrated kitchens, presentation is never an afterthought. In restaurants recognised by the Michelin Guide, plates are not merely vessels for food they are part of the narrative.
Many chefs collaborate with ceramicists and designers to create custom tableware that frames each dish with intention. The curve of a bowl, the texture of a glaze, or the subtle tone of porcelain can elevate a composition, guiding the diner’s eye and amplifying the visual drama of the plate.
This philosophy has begun to influence an unexpected setting: the aircraft cabin.
Airline tableware has evolved far beyond simple functionality. In today’s premium cabins, it has become an essential element of brand storytelling, shaping how passengers perceive luxury, culture, and hospitality. For leading carriers, tableware design is approached with the same care as cabin interiors or lounge architecture. Materials, motifs, and craftsmanship are thoughtfully selected to reflect each airline’s identity.
The result is a dining ritual that feels deliberate rather than utilitarian. A meal served thousands of metres above the earth can still carry the elegance of a Michelin-starred restaurant table, proof that even within the constraints of an aircraft cabin, design remains a powerful tool for shaping experience. As airlines compete to redefine premium travel, the humble plate has become something more: a canvas for culinary theatre and a quiet ambassador of brand identity in the skies.
A compelling example can be found in the First-Class dining experience of Korean Air. In collaboration with the historic French porcelain maison Bernardaud, the airline developed a bespoke collection that reflects refined craftsmanship and contemporary elegance. The design incorporates a subtle geometric motif inspired by the Geon trigram, an ancient symbol representing the sky, air, and dynamic movement. Applied delicately as a neutral pattern on pristine white porcelain, the motif
maintains a minimalist aesthetic while enhancing the presentation of each dish.
To complete the setting, the airline pairs the porcelain with glassware from Riedel and elegant cutlery from Christofle. Separate pieces for appetisers and main courses mirror the cadence of restaurant service, creating a dining experience that feels considered and indulgent even at cruising altitude.

Elsewhere, design is being used to express national identity as much as luxury. The new tableware collection introduced by Saudia turns in-flight dining into a subtle cultural journey, celebrating Saudi heritage while welcoming international travellers into its traditions.
Drawing inspiration from Saudi architecture, landscapes, and decorative arts, the collection employs harmonious shapes, textures, and colours that feel rooted in place. One of its most distinctive
elements is a signature date basket that doubles as a serving tray, an homage to the long-standing Saudi custom of greeting guests with dates as a symbol of generosity and welcome.
Perhaps the most striking detail is the cutlery: a copper PVD–finished set produced exclusively for the airline. The two-tone pieces are engraved along the handle with a motif inspired by Saudi Arabia’s national palm tree symbol, blending traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary metallic finish.
Saudi collection inspired by architecture and landscapes
A similarly narrative-driven approach defines the tableware created for Riyadh Air. Designed for the airline’s Business Elite and Business Class cabins, the collection extends the carrier’s bold visual language into the dining experience. Central to the design is the Canopy Twist motif, inspired by the flowing silhouettes of traditional Bedouin tents and the Saudi philosophy of hafawa, or generous hospitality.
Across these examples, one theme is clear: design has become a powerful differentiator in the airline industry. Tableware is no longer just a vessel for food, but a canvas for culture, craftsmanship and storytelling, elevating the in-flight dining ritual and carrying the elegance of fine dining into the skies.

Celebrating 20 Years of TravelPlus Amenity Awards Excellence
The TravelPlus Amenity Awards, established in 2006, celebrate excellence in-flight amenities. That inaugural year, Air Canada earned the first Gold Award for its Executive First amenity kit.
The first formal awards ceremony took place on the 6th February 2011 at The Chesterfield Mayfair in London. During this period, TravelPlus partnered with Onboard Hospitality Magazine as media sponsor, a collaboration that continued until 2014, when On Board Hospitality launched its own awards program.
In 2012, the ceremony moved to Hamburg, alongside WTCE Expo, following feedback from the industry, and was held in the Sydney Room at the Radisson Blu. Today, the ceremony is regarded as the premier networking opportunity in the industry.
The Awards are a mark of distinction, with entries judged exclusively by panels of experienced travellers, ensuring a fair, passenger-focused evaluation. Only the finest creations receive the coveted Gold Seal of Passenger Approval.
This year’s celebration is particularly special, marking the 20th Anniversary of the TravelPlus Amenity Awards, honouring two decades of excellence and innovation across the airline industry.
Design Meets Conservation Where
In Partnership with United for Wildlife
At cruising altitude, as time seems to stretch and the cabin drifts into a serene quiet, Emirates is turning fresh attention to one of air travels tiniest but most personal touches: the amenity kit.
No longer a simple inflight convenience,
these newly introduced kits for Premium Economy and Economy passengers are designed as objects with purpose, crafted to be kept, considered, and remembered.
At the heart of the collection is a story. Created in collaboration with United for Wildlife, the conservation initiative founded by Prince William, each kit goes beyond comfort to carry a quiet message about the natural world. These are not just travel accessories; they are small ambassadors of awareness, inviting passengers to engage with the fragile ecosystems that exist far below their flight path.
The pouches themselves are central to this narrative. Made from innovative bio-based materials, including alternatives derived from cactus, they offer a soft, leather-like feel that blends luxury with responsibility. Their designs are thoughtfully curated around four elemental themes, sea, sky, forest, and desert, each brought to life through delicate, hand-drawn illustrations. The result is something closer to a collectible than a disposable item: a piece of design that feels personal and intentional.
Inside, the storytelling continues. Each kit includes a card introducing an endangered species, transforming a routine in-flight moment into one of reflection. Pangolins, Bengal tigers, manta rays, and peregrine falcons are not simply decorative, they represent real, vulnerable ecosystems. The experience is subtle but meaningful, encouraging a connection between the passenger and the wider world.
For Premium Economy travellers, the kits are elevated further. Larger in size and designed with a practical wrist strap, they are made to be reused beyond the flight. Their contents reflect a careful balance of comfort and sustainability, featuring essentials such as socks, eyeshades, and dental kits, alongside plant-based skincare items. Even the smallest details—from recycled textiles to responsibly sourced paper, reinforce the overarching ethos.
Economy Class kits, while more compact, carry the same spirit. Vibrant illustrations of wildlife such as Arabian oryx, gazelles, blue sharks, and Bornean orangutans ensure that the storytelling remains just as rich, proving that thoughtful design need not be reserved for premium cabins.
What ultimately defines these amenity kits is not just how they look or what they contain, but what they represent. Emirates has reimagined a familiar in-flight object as
something meaningful, a keepsake that tells a story, sparks curiosity, and reflects a more conscious approach to travel.
In these small, beautifully crafted pouches, the journey extends beyond the destination, inviting passengers to carry a piece of that story with them long after they land.
