PACKING LIST

Lapland

SOME ESSENTIALS FOR LAPLAND Lapland has a subarctic climate with extremely cold temperatures during winter, ranging from -10°C to -40°C. In December and January, temperatures often drop to around -30°C. In February, it warms up slightly, but it is still very cold. It is therefore important to be well prepared and to wear the right clothing.

TEMPERATURES DECEMBER JANUARY FEBRUARY MARCH

-30° -30° -25° -15°

HOW DO YOU PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST THE COLD? Dress in layers. This works by creating an insulating layer of air between the clothing layers you wear, which helps retain heat and prevents cold air from reaching your skin directly.

THERMAL UNDERWEAR

DID YOU KNOW THAT... Merino wool, sourced from the soft coat of Merino sheep, is not only warm and comfortable, but also naturally breathable, hypoallergenic, and UV-resistant! That’s why it is the best choice for thermal underwear.

LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS LAYER 1: THERMAL UNDERWEAR LAYER 2: MERINO WOOL T-SHIRT LAYER 3: BUFF OR BALACLAVA

Thermal underwear is a must-have for anyone visiting Lapland in winter. Thermal underwear provides essential warmth while effectively drawing sweat and moisture away from the skin. Thermal undergarments are designed to retain your body heat while still providing ventilation and comfort, so that you don’t get too hot or too cold.

LAYER 4: FLEECE SWEATER LAYER 5: SKI OR SNOW PANTS LAYER 6: SKI OR WINTER JACKET LAYER 7: THICK MITTENS

Whether you’re going snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, or hiking in the Lapland wilderness, thermal underwear will help you fully enjoy your winter adventure.

LAYER 8: MERINO WOOL SOCKS LAYER 9: SNOW BOOTS

BRAVE THE COLD WITH OUR THERMAL CLOTHING PACKAGES For ultimate protection against the cold, we optionally offer thermal clothing packages that include a thermal outer layer and snow boots. You will receive the equipment on Sunday upon arrival and it must be returned on Saturday evening before departure.

INCLUDED IN OUR THERMAL CLOTHING PACKAGE A full suit (jacket + pants) Snow boots Thermal mittens PLEASE NOTE: This clothing is mainly intended to be worn over your own winter clothing and therefore serves as an extra layer on top of your own ski or winter jacket and pants. It is especially suitable for activities where you remain relatively still, such as snowmobiling or husky safaris. Even if you book this package, we strongly recommend that you also bring your own jacket and pants, as the thermal outerwear can be quite bulky and you will move more comfortably in your own clothing.

GOOD TO KNOW This clothing is not ideal for more active activities. For example, wearing it during a snowshoe hike may cause you to sweat quickly, which is not ideal in cold conditions. For this reason, we always recommend bringing your own goodquality winter jacket and pants as well.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR DEPARTURE? It’s best to choose a comfortable outfit for the flight. Once you arrive in Lapland, you may need to wait a while before you can check in to your accommodation. For this reason, we recommend wearing a thick winter jacket when departing and keeping a warm sweater, hat, scarf, etc. easily accessible in your (hand) luggage. It can also be useful to put on a thermal legging upon arrival, which you can wear under your trousers, as jeans alone can be very cold. As for footwear, it’s best to choose shoes with good grip on the sole, such as hiking shoes.
