The Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) was a Bronze Age civilization (3300–1300 BCE; mature period 2600–1900 BCE) extending from what today is northeast Afghanistan to Pakistan and northwest India .

Along with Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia it was one of three early civilizations of the Old World, and of Indus Valley.

One can discover the wide range of its popular crafts; they are similar in designs, patterns & motifs. The medium used are ceramic, metal work& textiles are same as the artisans of Indus valley civilizations & later Mughal period .

Historical facts After the destruction of Mohenjo-Daro & Harappa and the age of Buddha born about 572 BC .The Pakistan territories witnessed the arrival of Aryans. They brought with them developed crafters like carpenters, bronze smith, weavers, rope makers, dyers,& potters. Then period of Iranians in Peshawar Valley, called Gandhara, the agricultural community developed plus farmers & sheep breeders& artisans. Excavations Taxila revealed the use of iron in the sixth century B.C the two centuries after the Iranian invasion came Alexander (327B.C) Although the first phase of their occupation was very brief ,the Greeks made a deep impact on the people mind as crafts more refine & flourished in this period like Carpentry ,sculpture pottery, jewelry& the mining of coins.

In the early years of the eight century A.D., the territories of Pakistan started coming under the influence of Islam & by the end of 12the century the whole region from Khyber to Delhi had come under Muslim rules.

In the early years of the eight century A.D. ,the territories of Pakistan started coming under the influence of Islam & by the end of 12the century the whole e region from Khyber to Delhi had come under Muslim rules.

The Muslim rulers & their power change in the region, the pattern of people living in social & aesthetic values. Next six centuries the one powerful ruler or divided into independent rulers of each state. The connection with Spain & Sicily .the movement brought change in arts & crafts world also many scholars, craftsmen of repute migrated.

The artisans & craftsmen from Iran, central Asia, Iraq, Syria, Egypt & turkey brought new crafty changes in the world of architecture, woodcrafts, ceramic& metal work.

The most popular & unique craft were the art sculpture, painting of miniatures, calligraphy & tile making. So the origin of Muslim art stated in the region and it touches the peak of glory. The most talk age is Mughal period when they produce the finest crafts of workmanship. Then introduce carpet weaving ,weavers. Tile maker ,with miniature painting. Also copper smith making home décor items.the 16century upto18century were the best period with artistic touches.
