REAL TIME SERVICE EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS

Customers who purchase tickets via our TPE website or App will now be notified via email if there are any changes to their journey.

Real-time service email notifications were introduced last week and aim to give customers advance notice of any cancellations, part cancellations or reinstatements that may affect their journey.

A notification email can be sent the day before or the day of travel to update customers about any disruption as soon as possible and allow them to consider their options and adjust their travel plans.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF HELPING CUSTOMERS IN DEWSBURY A big congratulations to Donna Jasiewicz (Customer Service Supervisor) who recently celebrated 20 years of service. To mark the occasion Station Manager Angie Hunte was on hand to present Donna with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a cake.

Donna said: “It was a fabulous day! The best thing about working here are the colleagues who are like family to me, we are a great team and the customers are lovely.

“I really hope we can continue to offer our customers a great service and work together for many more years!”

During her time at TPE, Donna has been nominated for a National Rail Award and has been there to celebrate two ‘Station of the Year’ awards at the Star Awards.

Time to 15 and cancellations were up significantly from the previous week however the number of delay minutes overall was down by 11%.

The cancellation figure is largely due to the poor weather impacting our Anglo-Scottish services on Friday and Saturday. Saturday saw significant disruption on the South route with flooding blocking the lines between Sheffield and Doncaster, resulting in late notice service alterations and shortforms.

FINDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF RAILWAY SUPERSTARS Our Careers Team have been out and about again, promoting the amazing career opportunities we have on offer to the next generation of railway talent.

Last week Lisa Yemm (Resourcing Administrator) was at the Waterhead Academy, Oldham, and Hathershaw College where she spoke to students about the amazing apprenticeships we have within our business.

Lisa also represented TPE at the Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) careers fair. Lisa was joined by Ben Dixon (Fleet Apprentice) and Victoria Treiber (HR Apprentice) at the event where they met the hundreds of young people taking part in the DofE scheme and even got a picture with Manchester City’s trophies.

RAISING SPIRITS AT THE AIRPORT

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

It might’ve been a gloomy day at the airport on Tuesday but colleague and customers days were brightened when a steel drum band started playing in the waiting area.

We’re approaching the end of Black History Month and we wanted to highlight one more rail pioneer before the month’s over.

Asquith Xavier was a West Indian guard who fought a Whites-only policy at Euston station. He joined the railway in 1956, starting as a porter and working his way up to be a Rail Guard at Marylebone.

Due to cuts, he began applying to other stations, including Euston, where he was rejected because of a ban on ‘coloured men’. Asquith worked with others across the industry to fight the policy and it was scrapped in 1966, with Asquith starting a Euston soon after.

As Black History Month ends, we want to remind you that our commitment to building an inclusive community and celebrating our colleagues at TPE does not it is something we are dedicated to achieving the whole year round.

WHERE TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN ACROSS OUR NETWORK Halloween weekend is coming up and many of the locations around the network will be celebrating the spookiest time of year. Here’s some of the events taking place:

Ghosts in the gardens – Museum Gardens, York

Halloween Evening Market – the Barras Market, Glasgow

Believe your eyes, there’s ghosts in York!

Across the city, 39 ghostly figures have been placed, try and find them all.

Local businesses and entertainment will be at the historic market getting everybody in the Halloween spirit. Be sure to dress up, as there is a prize for best dressed!
