Dear Members,

During the past two weekends, I had the pleasure of attending a couple of wonderful events at the Club. The Governors’ Ball celebrating Tony Delmonte’s presidency was a fantastic event to get dressed up for and celebrate with old and new friends. On Saturday, November 12, we had over 70 people at our New Member Cocktail Party, and it was so nice to see so many of our members making new friends and enjoying the celebration. It had been almost three years since we were able to hold such an event and, as usual, the entertainment, food and drink were excellent. It makes me extremely excited for the coming year when we have great participation at events!

During the next few months, I know many of you might go to warmer climates, but for those who remain up north, please make sure to enjoy the many different holiday events that are planned for your enjoyment. This year we are holding not one, but two Brunch’s with Santa because of the great demand. Remember, events fill up quickly so do not hesitate to make reservations.

As many of you know, our year end at the Club is October 31, 2022. I am happy to report that we ended the year with 432 members versus 418 members last year. It is a testament to all of you for promoting the Club and making it a place people want to join. Please continue to tell all your friends about the great experience you are having. You are our greatest asset. Give yourself an applause and keep up the momentum!

While the winter months tend to slow down, the staff continues to be busy planning for next year. We will close the fiscal books on 2022 and are in the process of developing a budget for 2023. Additionally, committees and staff are working on the Golf and Event calendars for the coming year. I encourage all of you who want to get involved to reach out to a board member, Chris, or Tina and they will connect you with the right person.

I look forward to seeing you at TVCC. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season!!

2 December
FROM THE DESK OF YOUR PRESIDENT

Christopher M. Myslow

As we all enjoy this festive holiday season, I am filled with great gratitude for the incredibly warm welcome to Transit Valley and the Buffalo area that everyone here has given me. I continue to work very hard to personally know each of your names and faces. This is a wonderful Club, and I am grateful to all of you for your energy, understanding, kindness, and devotion to TVCC.

We have a very exciting 2023 year planned for our valued Transit Valley Members. Thanks to our Board of Governors’ future vision for ensuring the success of the Club, we are well prepared to offer you and your families plenty of activities to engage in next season.

I have had the pleasure of working with the Golf Committee on a great calendar of events for next year for men, women, and juniors. I have also met with members of the Women’s Committee and am very excited about all of the events that are planned for the coming season.

As we know, the key to the success of all events at TVCC is member participation. My team will do its very best to communicate with all of you about each planned event and how you and your families can actively participate in and enjoy what the Club offers.

I do have an exciting announcement to make: Brandon Sears is heading a project which entails creating an on-line reservation app for the dining areas at TVCC. Members will be able to download the app and select their desired time and table (similar to Open Table and Rezi). We will begin beta testing this in December for a full rollout in 2023. Detailed instructions to follow in January. Members can still phone in or email their dining reservations, but it is our goal with this new app to make it easier and more convenient for you to see what times are available here at the Club.

I look forward to seeing many of you in December as the holiday season is upon us. Please keep us in mind for any parties or gatherings that you may wish to host at TVCC. De’Ann Setter is always available to help make your arrangements.

My sincere wishes to all of you and your families for a healthy, safe, and wonderful holiday season.

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

Membership Services Director

I have been settling in and concentrating on my membership services position again! There are two goals that have been on my list for quite some time, and I am very excited to have a chance to cross them off the list. My first goal is to develop a membership brochure which will highlight, prompt, and describe the many benefits of membership at TVCC. The second goal will be to update our website which is in need of a new facelift!

I am sure you agree that the Club looks absolutely beautiful for the holiday season. It is a perfect time of year to refer or invite someone to one of our many events who you think will enjoy membership as much as you do!

One of my favorite parts of my position is servicing you! If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah! May the new year bring you peace, happiness, and good health.

Improve Your Member Experience

Take a few moments to visit our website www.transitvalley.com, download our new TVCC App, and upload a photo in your profile via the app - this will transport in real-time to our server point of sale.

Irrigation Project (Complimentary Greens Fee Guest Passes) - will be available at the Golf Shop

The two complimentary greens fee guest passes for paying the Irrigation Project assessment up front will not be mailed they will be available at the Golf Shop and will not have an expiration date.

Kids’ Club Director

Angela Staszak

As 2022 comes to a close, I wanted to take this time to reflect on all that we have accomplished together. This year we were able to put on fifteen family-oriented events. Special thanks for your interest, support, and for sharing your families with us! Thank you for continuing to come out and share your families with us. We love having you! We are always brainstorming for the future and would love to hear from you if you have any ideas for future events.

In order to better serve the youngest members of TVCC, we would like to create a Kids of TVCC photo album which will be displayed in Kids’ Club. This album will serve as a resource to help staff better get to know children as well as for kids to better get to know one another. Included will be the children and grandchildren of all members. If you wish to include your family, please email one photo of your children altogether at: astaszak@transitvalley.com. Please include: their first and last name and current age. We will be accepting submission through the end of the month.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. It is hard to believe that it is December, and the holiday festivities at the club have begun. With the 2022 golf season in the books, we can now start to look ahead to next year and the excitement that a new season can bring. Whether it be the purchase of new equipment, off-season conditioning, an improved swing or putting stroke, an increase in clubhead speed, etc. Now is the time to start putting together an off-season plan or goals to get yourself ready for a great season in 2023. This winter we will be hosting the area’s leading golf fitness instructor, Marie Hall, to share valuable insights and information to help our members maximize their performance and enjoy the game to the fullest. Details to follow. The Golf Shop will close for the season on Saturday, December 31st and reopen on Friday, March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day). On behalf of the entire golf staff, we would like to thank you for continued support and look forward to seeing all of you in the spring for another great season. I will be in the Golf Shop regularly during the week over the winter as well as accessible via email and voicemail.

winter golf

With the recent golf boom the past few seasons, the demand for tee times has never been higher. Securing access at other private clubs is now considerably more difficult as well as much more expensive. Based on last winter, many clubs in Florida are not taking outside play, and those that are only booking a few days in advance. Most facilities are charging $200 - $300 for unaccompanied guests. When seeking assistance with tee times at other facilities please try to reach out in advance and provide the specific dates and timeframes when you are looking to play.

trAining tool S

Two great training tools or gift ideas to share with you: The Stack System and the Perfect Putting Mat. Distance is king for tour pros as well as amateurs. Increase clubhead speed and hit longer drives from using The Stack System (thestacksystem.com). If you have been in the TVCC Golf Shop during the winter months, you likely have seen our Perfect Putting Mat. These putting mats feature a great roll, offered in different lengths, gravity based ball return, and can be stored relatively easy (perfectpractice.golf ).

A Message from the Greens Superintendent Adam Mis

Well, the snow has finally arrived. We had a great run of weather and I believe an outstanding golf season. I believe the course has never been this well-conditioned. We still have a long way to go, but we are on the right track. I give credit to the support from the board and my staff getting it done all season. We hope to continue improving the overall course and setting us up to be the premier choice for private club experience in Western New York.

We were in the process of working on many projects before the snow came. We expanded the back of #12 green per the architect to provide an easier recovery if you overshoot the green. We removed the bentgrass sod from the left approach of the practice putting green and transferred it to #12 surround.

Our architect Mark Mungeam made a late season visit to lay out some of the new tee boxes to be put in place before the new irrigation system is installed next season. He also laid out a contour adjustment to #14 fairway by the pond. This is so that balls will not automatically kick into the pond on a straight drive. We were hoping to get that adjusted before the weather turned, but we will go after it if we get a melt of snow. If not, it will be a spring project. I am very proud of the many master plan items we were able to complete in-house in 2022. I credit our turf team in getting these projects completed. I reviewed the master plan list and estimates of what was completed, and we were able to complete $192,000 worth items for a fraction of those dollars doing it in-house with our skilled crew. This was all done in a little over one year. There have been many changes in our staff, but we hope to keep moving forward in 2023 and beyond.

Most of the parts have arrived for the new irrigation system and are in storage. The pipe is scheduled to arrive the first or second week of December. Once that is on site, we will have everything we need for the contractor to get rolling on the project in 2023. Once we start the project, we will have constant updates of progress and where the contractor will be working on the course.

I wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas season and thank you for being part of the Transit Valley family. We hope 2023 is even better.

Country Club appropriate denim is defined as properly sized, in excellent condition, and dark in color(white or black denim is also acceptable). Country Club appropriate denim does not include holes or rips, fading or stonewash look, frayed material, denim shorts, jackets, skirts, dresses, work type denim shirts, or jeans that are worn extremely low cut. Tasteful and appropriate shirts and shoes must be worn. For men, denim must be paired with any tucked-in and collared shirt, sport coat or sweater.

Country Club Attire is also deemed appropriate which is defined as: Bermuda length shorts, sundresses, collared shirts for men and appropriate women’s attire.

1921 Room (Previously the Formal Dining Room) & Ballroom

Country Club Attire will be acceptable consisting of collared shirts for men and appropriate women’s attire. Sport coats are optional but encouraged. The intent is to not allow denim. However, denim will be permissible if the Grill Room has reached its maximum capacity.

Club/Special Events

Dress codes will be defined for all Club/Special Events and will be communicated in the newsletter

Members are encouraged to consider common sense when making casual-attire decisions. We prefer our members dressup rather than dress-down when visiting the Club. While we expect that members will use good taste and judgment, the Board has directed Club Management to discreetly review any inappropriate casual attire decisions directly with the member to ensure that the Club maintains a casual environment that is enjoyable for everyone.

Unacceptable Clubhouse Attire: Yoga pants, leggings,t-shirts, shorts, and athletic attire
