Because my copy of April's Connect Magazine hadn't arrived by the second Friday of that month, I emailed Naomi at TEN about it. Then on Monday, it arrived. I contacted Naomi to let her know, and mentioned my wife and I would catch up on the last twelve days of the Prayer Diary. A few days later, she emailed me, saying how much the dedication of TEN supporters was appreciated, in prayer and other ways. She also invited me to write this editorial!

We would like to offer you our sincere apologies that April’s Connect Magazine arrived extraordinarily late. We understand many of you were deeply frustrated by this. We were too. We do as much as we can to ensure that your copy arrives ahead of each quarter, especially as it contains our Prayer Diary.
(TEN’s original name) was in 1974 at the week-long Christian Holiday Crusade, near Filey, North Yorkshire. Dave Foster was Eurovangelism’s Director, and he spoke at some of the sessions that week. Whilst there, I visited Eurovangelism's stand, obtained literature and signed up to receive regular mailings. My long link with TEN was formed.
I use several daily prayer diaries, for both domestic and international Christian ministries. Prayer is the lifeblood, the fuel for God's work, so may I encourage you, dear friends, to pray on, informed by the magazine articles which demonstrate just how precious your support is. Expect to be surprised by how God moves.
On this occasion, we were let down during the mailing process, but we have taken steps to prevent this from happening again. Some of the conversations and correspondence we’ve had from you have been so gracious and your continued support for us and our partners is deeply appreciated.

Are you a solution seeker?
A problem solver? Someone who likes to fix things. I am. I sat listening to the challenges faced by partners in Montenegro as they sow into tough spiritual ground, during my latest visit (read more on page 21). I desperately wanted to offer a word of encouragement that might resolve challenges of finding a building—or some other knotty issue—in a country where forming trust to share the gospel is hard, and partners operate with very limited resources. Well-meant but foolish on my part. I found myself getting more and more internally frustrated. I felt somewhat helpless. Then God reminded me of Paul’s words to the Colossians. These words are written on the cover of my current journal. He is before all things and in him all things hold together. Not ‘in Jim’ (me) but ‘in Him’. This is Christ’s work, not ours. TEN partners, who face all sorts of difficulties, are a constant challenge to me to remember this truth. During my trip, I was reminded of the commitment, perseverance and trust that our partners and you show. Living each day by faith as they do, they have to trust that Christ goes before them and that He holds His work in the Balkans and Eastern Europe together. We must play our part. We can support, pray and encourage but it will be Christ’s power that unlocks the challenges and barriers faced by pastors and leaders across the Balkans and Eastern Europe. Thank you for your prayer, support and encouragement.

My book, Keys to The Kingdom of Heaven, has been a great encouragement and motivator for many believers and leaders from various church denominations. Because the book is very practical, it helps believers in their personal relationships with God, with their families, and with their church communities. It

God’s Favour presents a central biblical truth that God is a God of favour who relates to humanity with unchanging love. The book I wrote reveals His heart—full of mercy, goodness, and faithfulness— and shows that His favour is not something we can earn, but a gift given through Jesus Christ.
The book leads the reader through Scripture—from the patriarchs such as Joseph and Moses, through King David and the prophets, to the apostles and the early Church. Everywhere we see how God’s favour lifts, guides, and
encourages active volunteering and service by everyone in the church.
In almost three months, the book has reached over 250 people in Bulgaria, with the distribution being done only by me personally, during my travels.
One reader in Sofia wrote of the book, ‘In addition to new knowledge, Keys to The Kingdom of Heaven helped me to understand basic biblical principles that strengthen me as a Christian and encourage me to develop my potential for more serious ministry.’

Writing my first book, Moje Mesto u Crkvi (‘My Place in The Church’), has been a deeply personal journey. Over many years in ministry, one question kept returning to me: how can people find their place in the Church and truly live that out?
This book grew from that question. It combines biblical teaching on the Church and spiritual gifts, with real-life experience. I wanted to write something practical, helping believers move from reflection to active service. It was during a time of illness when I clearly sensed God telling me, ‘Now is the time to write this book.’ What had been forming for years finally found its moment.
I am especially grateful that the printing of this book was supported by Transform Europe Network, whose partnership made this step possible. For me, this book feels like a ‘firstborn.’ My hope is that it will help others discover their place and serve with courage in the life of the Church.

Cross On a Hill is an evangelistic book that Josh Irby and I wrote primarily for those who do not yet know Christ, while also serving as an encouragement to believers. It has been published in Bosnian, Serbian, and English.
In a clear and accessible way, the book explains the gospel, emphasising
God’s love, the need for repentance, and the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It includes a direct call to repentance, along with an example prayer that can serve as a first step for those who desire to begin a new life of faith.
To share the Good News, we distribute the book free of charge throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the hope of reaching as many people as possible. We are encouraged by the powerful testimonies we have received from individuals who, after reading it, chose to follow Jesus.
We are especially grateful to TEN for financially supporting the reprint of the Bosnian edition last year, which made wider distribution possible.
Living Out the Grace of God

My name is Neli. I started working at CASA Grace twenty-six years ago, just a few months after it was founded.
CASA stands for Christian Agency for Social Action. In the early years, I was involved in administrative work, but for the past eighteen years I have been part of the ‘Families in Need’ project. God has helped me and given me the grace to be part of the founding team, among the first “pillars” who established the work of CASA Grace. My lifelong desire has been to help those in need, to offer support to the underprivileged, to encourage and guide those with different needs toward making the right choices, and to be an example to them through my personal testimony.
My heart has always been sensitive to those around me, especially those in need and particularly children from families with modest incomes, family problems, health issues, or other various challenges.
After graduating from college with degrees in Christian Education and Social Work, God led me to missionary work in southern Romania and to Christian education for preschoolers at a Christian preschool. After these experiences, I understood God’s call to get involved with CASA Grace.
As part of the ‘Families in Need’ project, we support families facing crises such as illness, divorce, bereavement, unemployment, job and housing scarcity, single parenting and such, with monthly food packages, hygiene products, and other resources. We offer people social, emotional, and family counselling to help them navigate the various situations they are facing.
In all these things I have shared with you, I want the gratitude in my heart to be directed solely to God for the plan He has fulfilled in my life, and I pray that His plan will continue to be fulfilled in my life until the very end.

Interview with Rachel Lee, Country Champion for Romania (West)
How did the partnership with Keynsham Elim and CASA Grace begin?
Our partnership with CASA Grace began when my sister Jane Jones worked for Eurovangelism (TEN's original name). The CASA Grace team were looking for support to run and fund a Christian summer camp for children supported through their ‘Families in Need’ programme. Their desire was to give these dear children—living in extremely difficult circumstances—the opportunity to enjoy a fun holiday while hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.
At that time, Jane and her husband Mark were youth leaders at Keynsham Elim. They felt this would be a wonderful opportunity for the young people in our church to get involved—and so it began! Now, twenty-one years later, we continue to support CASA Grace by running these Christian camps.
What has encouraged you the most about your church partnership?
To hear so many children and teenagers say how much they have enjoyed the camp—some even calling it the best week of their year—is incredibly special. Most of all, we see lives changed as we share the eternal hope of the gospel. Not only are the children impacted, but many of the team members
from the UK also say the experience has been life-changing for them.
What’s your advice for churches considering a partnership? Simply go for it—it’s what we are called to do. Yes, there are people in our own communities who need our support as a church, and that is vitally important. But we are also called to reach out—to go into all the world, as it says in Acts 1:8.
To partner long-term with a Christian organisation in another country has proven to be such a blessing, as we see the fruit of God’s work unfold over time. If God is in it, He will provide and faithfully meet every need.

Practical Partnership Provides a Warm Welcome and Gospel Hope

The Alpha Course is one of the tools the church uses to reach people. We started Alpha courses over ten years ago and since then, we have run one almost every year.
As people from our church come together to prepare for the gathering, there is laughter and closeness in joining hands. There is excitement in the expectation of what God will do this time. There is unity in prayer for one goal—winning the souls of the lost.
Because Alpha runs for ten weeks, it has been a great way to introduce our guests with the truth of God’s Word and plant seeds. They enjoy coming, being together and are challenged to think about their lives, about God and eternity.
Meals are part of Alpha and for every meeting, they are prepared at the church. We have been blessed by our church partners, Holy Trinity
Frome, who funded the refurbishment of our kitchen. Working in a new kitchen gives a special sense of pleasure.
Service has become easier since we have all the necessary pots and dishes, and our new dishwasher is saving us time and labour too!
We are so grateful for our friends at Holy Trinity for making this possible. We feel more secure, knowing we are not alone in this work, and that other people care enough to make life easier, also praying with us for the work of the precious Saviour to be done here as it is in Heaven.
Through Alpha, we get to know new people, make new friends, and also win some hearts for Christ. Many of the believers, now part of the church, have gone through the Alpha Course. Alpha is an important part of the life of Bitola Evangelical Church.

4 Thank you for praying for May’s seminar Love Your Neighbour, to engage Muslims with the gospel. We had over ninety participants from across the region. Pray that the participants will be able to apply what they learned.
This week, a team from the USA will help us run an evangelistic camp. Pray for open hearts and a clear presentation of the gospel. Pray that many make a personal decision for Christ.

Next week, we will have our canoeing camp for the Royal Rangers. Pray for safety on River Tamiš and for the spiritual growth of the people who attend. May this time together build character, community, and faith.

Later this month, a team from Northern Ireland will visit to help us run a camp. Pray for God’s blessing among the children we serve. May the children experience God’s love through the camp and activities.

Pray for several events from now until the end of September, including conferences, services, training seminars and children’s concerts. These events have great gospel-sharing potential and also unite different ministry groups.
24 Our family is feeling very stretched. Our church responsibilities include preaching, pastoring, leading worship, counselling and administration at the Renewal Centre. Pray that all our efforts would bear fruit.
25 Please pray for our church’s social and humanitarian ministries. We work with homeless people, refugees and vulnerable children.

Pray for our Zhar Art business, which provides income for the creative people involved. Pray for good weather at the fairs we'll exhibit at, genuine customer interest, and enough time to prepare the glass artwork.

Pray for our sewing class. Nineteen dedicated women learn everything about sewing. Pray the students finish well this month, and may they use their skills in new job opportunities.

Pray for our teenage girls group. May each girl be encouraged in their walk with Jesus and may they grow in faith.

Pray for the teenage boys group, that each occasion spent together is fruitful. May each boy feel that they are listened to and draw closer to God.

Each family that we are close to, and support by providing essentials, needs to be carried in prayer so they discover the real God.

Please pray for each child with disabilities that we work closely with at our Kingdom Kids programme. May they know they are loved as they are. Ask God to help each child make progress as we work them.

Pray for us as our sons undertake the next school year. Finding a suitable kindergarten for my youngest, Dimi, has been very difficult. Theo’s current kindergarten is quite far, so we need to decide if we want to move him somewhere else as he has made some friends.

Many people cannot cope financially since our currency changed to the Euro. We pray that God's peace and provision will be upon our people, especially believers; that we may be a light and a testimony to trust in God, not in the systems of the world.

Praising Christ Together for Freedom and Change

Nineteen years ago, a group of evangelical Christians who had overcome severe drug addiction, through rehabilitation programmes and with God’s help, organised a conference for people with similar experiences.
Christian Fellowships Conference was conceived to demonstrate that complete recovery of drug addicts is possible. This was in response to the official position among some medical professionals that complete recovery is not possible, only abstinence.
Since then, we have witnessed the wonderful works of God. Every year, about two hundred people arrive from West Balkan countries and gather together in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each person has a wonderful story. As Korak-Teen Challenge Croatia, we have been actively involved with the conference for the last ten years.
Who are the people who come to the conference? They were once long-term heroin addicts. Some had turned to crime to fund their addiction; some had been homeless or worked in the sex trade. Marriages had broken down, and some had lost custody of their children. The people attending the conference were once regarded as the lowest of society. From the time of the first conference, we have witnessed changes. Some people have got married, had children, have successful careers,
developed their own businesses, and serve in local churches.
Boro Goić from Sarajevo was a long-time heroin addict. Today, Boro is married with two children, he serves in a local church, has an NGO that helps people with addictions, and he is the owner and manager of two nursing homes. Nina and Đorđe Kostić were long-time heroin addicts, but they now lead the evangelical church they planted in Novi Sad, Serbia. This year, Šime and Nina shared their testimony of how they replaced a life of crime on the streets with serving addicted people at the Rehab Centre Remar. People once regarded as the lowest of society are now examples to others. Only Christ can bring such freedom and change.
Harvest for the Hungry: One Less Worry

Thank you for supporting Harvest for the Hungry. In 2025, Harvest for the Hungry grants were sent to twenty-seven partners, providing over 1,100 food parcels for at least 1,284 children and 1,103 adults.
Additionally, a soup kitchen in Bulgaria provided 1,900 hot meals for Roma people, a project in Serbia supplied eighty hot meals a week to homeless adults and a project in Bosnia and Herzegovina gave out food vouchers to ten Roma families for six months.
Fellowship of the Lord’s People in Kosovo sent this moving report: ‘Thank you so much for your generous support. Because of you, we were able to prepare and distribute one hundred food boxes to families who are going through difficult times. Each box included simple but important items like onions, potatoes, beans, and flour, and we were also able to add rice, sugar, and oats.
These may seem like basic things, but for many families, they mean relief, stability, and one less worry. Right now, many people are struggling to make ends meet. Your support didn’t just provide food, it reminded people that they are seen, cared for, and not alone. We’ve been able to walk closely with several families, not just by giving food, but also by visiting, listening, and praying with them.’
Harvest for the Hungry enables our partners to further their ministries of compassion, showing God’s love and theirs, not just in what they say but in what they do for those around them. Mama Zhivka

The children call her “Mama Zhivka”. Small, slender, and always smiling, she welcomes them every day at the door of the soup kitchen in Slatina. She speaks kind words to them and seats them around the tables as if they were her own children.
Around thirty children from the Roma neighbourhood of this remote mountain village are fed under Zhivka’s care. She cooks the most delicious warm soups for them, so that when they return from school in the evening, there will be something to fill their stomachs.
Thanks to the Harvest for the Hungry grant we received from TEN, we are able to regularly supply the kitchen with basic necessities: beans, rice, lentils, cabbage, and chicken. Around ten elderly people who are sick and feel lonely and forgotten, rely on a bowl of warm soup.
During summer, families work in the fields, and whatever they manage to save for the cold months is usually gone by January. Winter in Slatina is long and harsh. There is almost no work. Parents struggle to survive, and social benefits for children often do not cover even the cost of bread. Only one hope remains—that the soup kitchen in the church building will not close, and that Mama Zhivka will be alive and well to keep cooking.
This January was especially hard. A flu epidemic spread. Mama Zhivka visited each home in the
neighbourhood to visit children and elderly people who were confined to their beds. In those moments, Zhivka became a mother to all. She brought soup, a warm word, comfort, and a fervent prayer to God for the health and consolation of those who suffered.
Small in stature but with a great heart, Mama Zhivka is the pillar of an entire neighbourhood. As long as she is there, the children know they are not alone.

Fundraising: Using Good Gifts for His Glory

After going on several trips with TEN, I couldn't come back unchanged when we have so much in this country. My first fundraiser—which I ran with Michelle Jennings, a former TEN trustee—was a Christmas fayre to raise funds for Emanuel Hospice and CASA Grace in Romania.
Twelve years ago, the garage sales started. I run three sales a year over three days. I have made a lot of friends and contacts, and I am able to share about TEN’s work and the gospel. And people are so generous.
I haven’t found it daunting because I know God is in it. I didn't know how it would go in the beginning and God can call a halt at any time, but I just trust in Him. I think the best place is simply to know where your heart is and your own capabilities. Nobody has to do the same thing as me. Anything is a blessing. Running for Gospel Transformation & LongTerm Impact, Sofia Marathon
This October, a team of nine runners, including James Vaughton and Chris Beddoes of the TEN staff team, will run the Sofia Marathon or Half Marathon. They will run to raise funds for Emanuel Hospice's building project and TEN partners. James and Chris will be joined by five people from the UK and two runners—Mihai and Raul—from Romania, who will represent Emanuel Hospice. Every Man and Woman for Christ
Thanks to donations from supporters, TEN sent funds to Living Water Church in Berat, Albania so they could host two evangelistic meals for people in their community. Here are Pastor Artur Tushi's reflections of the events.
At the men’s gathering, the central message was Men of Integrity—a call to live with honesty, responsibility, and faithfulness to Christ’s values in the family, in the workplace, and in every area of life.
One man, a lawyer and Muslim, shared that he accepted the invitation gladly, largely because of the personal testimony he had seen over time in my life. During the evening, he said “I feel respected, not condemned.” This testimony stood as a powerful witness to what happens when the gospel is shared with love, courage, and genuine respect for people.
The theme of the women’s gathering was The Greatest Joy, based on Luke 2:10. A special spirit of closeness and support was felt, as God’s
Word brought encouragement, healing, and renewed hope.
One woman, who came with her mother and sister, shared that she had grown up attending church as a child, but as she grew older, she gradually drifted away—from God, from the church, and from her faith. She engaged openly in the conversations and listened attentively, showing a deep and sincere interest in the message that was shared.
That night, the woman felt something she had not experienced in a long time—the love of God, a sense of safety, and the warmth of genuine fellowship. With visible emotion, she said: “This evening gave me back the faith I thought I had lost. Thank you.”
You are co-workers in our work to win every man and woman for Christ. We thank you sincerely for believing, for giving, and for becoming part of this vision. We pray that what was planted during these evenings will continue to bear fruit for the glory of God and for the good of people. God is still moving, and hearts are still turning to Him.

Mustard Seeds Grow Hope among Hidden Challenges

Thirty years ago, the Balkans faced obvious turmoil. War, poverty and chaos were widespread.
Today, the landscape appears transformed: peace has held for a quarter-century, economies have grown, several countries have joined the EU, and religious freedom is legally protected. Tourism flourishes, especially in Montenegro, now a popular destination for young travellers. With these positive changes, it’s tempting to think support for Christians in the region is no longer necessary.
However, my recent visit to Montenegro and Kosovo revealed that challenges persist beneath the surface. Although prosperity and peace make difficulties less visible, mistrust towards Protestant Christians remains entrenched. Srdjan Vorotović shared how evangelising in Kotor led to threats and being chased. In Kosovo, political hostility resulted in partners being evicted from their property. Economic growth has brought inequality; the cost of homes and church buildings has soared, making ownership unattainable for many pastors. EU membership offers freedom of movement, but often draws talented young people abroad, making it harder to raise new leaders locally.
Despite these obstacles, God’s Kingdom mustard seeds are growing. I witnessed deepening faith in Kotor, met a promising young leader in Podgorica, and visited a new church that our partners Boris and Urša Ćurčić have helped set up. On 6th June, Christians from across Montenegro came together in the main square in Podgorica to run a public outreach event.
In Kosovo, meeting our newest partner, Arton Veliu, and training leaders at the Ilyria Bible School highlighted how, even amid significant challenges, the kingdom of God, like yeast, is at work in Montenegro and Kosovo.

Transformation through Example

My name is Ana and I am from Moldova, a small country in Eastern Europe between Ukraine and Romania. I have been part of Beginning of Life NGO since 2019, but my journey started much earlier—as a teenager attending our youth programmes, and later as a volunteer.
Beginning of Life has been serving people for over 26 years. It began by supporting women in crisis. However, we have always understood the importance of prevention—reaching children and young people before crisis shapes their lives. In Moldova, many young people grow up in difficult circumstances. A significant number experience what we call social orphanhood, where one or both parents work abroad, leaving children without guidance and support. At the same time, our education system struggles with corruption and a lack of qualified teachers.
This is why spaces like our Urban Center are so important. Here, young people are not only supported but equipped. I personally experienced this transformation.
As a teenager, I learned public speaking, communication, and how to build healthy relationships. These are skills I now use every day in my work.
We teach leadership through example and practice. Teenagers grow within the programme, and as they mature, they step into leadership roles. Many of our volunteers—and even members of staff—are those who once attended our programmes themselves. Today, around 30 volunteers support younger participants, creating a natural cycle of mentorship and growth.
Each week, 140 teenagers gather for holistic development courses and weekend clubs. In the summer, we deepen these relationships through camps and day programmes. This year, we are planning six summer day camps and one residential camp.
For me, the most meaningful part is seeing genuine transformation. Our team models a living faith through care, consistency, and love. And we see young people not only grow in confidence and leadership but also choose the path of faith for themselves.

Shining Like Stars

There are those moments when you get to see the love of Jesus demonstrated in such raw and genuine ways that they simply take your breath away and can’t help but cause you to consider what your example as a disciple looks like. This was my experience back in February when I led a small team in North Macedonia.
At Battle Baptist Church, we are continuing to grow our friendship with Dragan and Biljana Manevi, and their church based in Resen. To this end, three of us from the church—Louise, Evie (my eldest daughter) and myself— headed off to celebrate Valentine’s Day among them all. The remit of the trip was to support Dragan and Biljana as they once again ran Night to Shine. This is an annual event that takes place on the Friday before Valentine’s Day in over seventy countries. At its heart is the sharing and demonstration of God's love, through honouring and valuing people with disabilities.
I’ve had the privilege of being a part of many events which seek to share and demonstrate the love of Jesus. But Dragan and Biljana’s passion to simply love those whom society often doesn’t have a place for or knows how to respond to blew me away. The guests are cheered as they arrive, escorted down a red carpet, given a three-course meal and invited to dance and celebrate, free from any prejudice or exclusion. Being invited to speak about the love God has for us all was a real joy and honour for me. Getting to spend a few days with Dragan and Biljana, seeing firsthand their desire to give everything they have to share the love of Jesus with those around them was truly fantastic. I witnessed the simplicity and yet proud impact the love of Jesus can have to all!
