Garvey’s Tralee Warriors have unveiled a new-look coaching team ahead of the 2026/27 Men’s Super League season, with Gareth Moore appointed Head Coach and former club captain Darren O’Sullivan taking on the role of Assistant Coach.
Moore is no stranger to Warriors supporters, having served as Assistant Coach from 2021 to 2025 under John Dowling during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. He was part of the coaching team that guided the
Warriors to a memorable League and National Cup double in 2022, helping establish the Tralee side among the leading teams in Irish basketball.
A dedicated St Brendan’s clubman, Moore spent last season focusing on youth development. His work paid dividends as he guided the St Brendan’s Under-18 side to the National Cup Final, where they finished runners-up after an impressive campaign.
Joining Moore on the sideline is one

of the most respected figures ever to wear the Warriors jersey. Darren O’Sullivan captained the club during its rise through the ranks and led the team to its historic Men’s Super League title success in 2019. His leadership, experience and deep connection with the club make him a valuable addition to the coaching setup.
The appointment of Moore and O’Sullivan brings together a combination of coaching expertise, player development and
championship-winning experience. Both men have played significant roles in the Warriors story and now have the opportunity to help shape the club’s future from the bench.
With preparations already underway, Warriors supporters will be hoping the new coaching partnership can inspire another exciting chapter for the Tralee club in the season ahead.

Garvey’s Tralee Warriors are delighted to announce that the club’s Women’s team will compete in the National League Division One competition for the 2026/27 season.
The move marks an exciting new chapter for the team and the club following two successful years playing in the Basketball Ireland Development League, getting to the Plate Final in their first year and the quarter finals of the competition last season, establishing a strong foundation for participation in the national competition.
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors will be coached by Tomás O’Hanlon, who
led Tralee Magic to the 2024/25 U20 Women’s National Cup title. He has coached both Moyderwell and Mercy Mounthawk to All-Ireland Schools titles as well as coaching with Irish underage teams.
The club is excited to provide a pathway for female players to compete at a higher level and looks forward to seeing the Women’s team perform on the national stage in the season ahead.
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors Club Chairman, Terry O’Brien welcomed the news, “we are delighted that our Women’s team will step up to playing National League Division One basketball in the coming

season. After two seasons playing in the BIDL League, the team has developed and grown and is now ready to face the challenge of playing at National League level.”
Further details on fixtures, player announcements and season preparations will be released in the coming weeks.

A heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in a truly remarkable fundraising effort at Ballyseede Castle Hotel, Tralee, which has raised an incredible €41,117 for Ronald McDonald House Ireland.
The special event brought together supporters from across Ireland and beyond, all united in helping families facing some of life’s most difficult challenges. One of the most touching moments of the evening came when young Kai and his family shared their personal story, highlighting the invaluable support and comfort provided by Ronald McDonald House during a difficult time in their lives.
This outstanding achievement was made possible through the
generosity and kindness of so many people. Sincere thanks and congratulations go to Ballyseede Castle, CCL Label, the donors, sponsors, guests and volunteers whose support helped make the event such a success.
The fundraiser was a wonderful reminder of the strength of community and the difference that can be made when people come together to support a worthy cause.
The funds raised will help Ronald McDonald House Ireland continue providing a welcoming homeaway-from-home for families who need to stay close to their seriously ill children while they receive treatment.
It was a night filled with compassion, generosity and hope – and one that

will make a real difference to families when they need it most.

QUESTION:
What’s all this fuss about fascia? Is that what is causing me pain?
John Tralee
For many years, fascia was largely overlooked in healthcare and movement science. Today, however, it has become one of the most talked-about topics in rehabilitation, manual therapy, exercise, and pain management. So what is all the fuss about?

Fascia is the body’s connective tissue network, a continuous web that surrounds and links muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, and organs. Rather than being simply a wrapping material, research now suggests fascia plays an important role in movement, force transmission, proprioception (our sense of body position), and even pain perception.
This growing understanding has sparked worldwide interest among clinicians, therapists, researchers, and movement professionals. New studies are continually reshaping our knowledge, challenging long-held assumptions about how the body functions and adapts with age, injury, and exercise.
For those who want to stay informed, Kevin will be speaking to members of the Fascia Hub next Thursday evening at 7pm. The Fascia Hub is a valuable source of up-to-date information on fascia and provides a welcoming place to interact with like-minded clinicians, therapists, and researchers. It also helps members prepare for major events such as the British Fascia Symposium and the International Fascia Congresses, where the latest developments in fascia research and clinical practice are shared.
Whether you are a healthcare professional or simply curious about how the body works, fascia is a fascinating field that continues to generate excitement and fresh discoveries....

Some people build businesses. Others build futures.
Maureen Quirke has spent a lifetime doing both.”
The annual Connect Kerry Awards honoured the outstanding achievements of women in business across Kerry’s thriving commercial landscape while recognising excellence, ambition and innovation.
In her keynote 10th anniversary address, Margaret Kissane congratulated the women who were nominated in categories covering education, innovation, family business, corporate leadership, retail, arts and culture.

Losing a loved one to suicide can be one of life’s most difficult and isolating experiences. While family and friends can provide valuable support, many people find comfort in speaking with others who truly understand what they are going through.
HUGG, Ireland’s national suicide bereavement charity, provides free support to individuals and families affected by suicide. Founded in 2017 by Fiona Tuomey following the loss of her 11-year-old daughter, Milly, HUGG has grown into a vital source of support for people across the country.
Research suggests that up to 135 people can be affected by every suicide. With around 500 suicides recorded annually in Ireland, tens of thousands of people may need support as they navigate grief and loss.
HUGG offers a range of services including a telephone support line, information and resources, signposting to additional services, public events, webinars, research initiatives and suicide bereavement support groups. These groups are led by trained volunteers who have themselves experienced the loss of a loved one through suicide.
A HUGG Kerry support group meets monthly on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. The service is free and operates on a self-referral basis. Anyone wishing to attend can register through the HUGG website, email support@hugg.ie or call 01 513 4048. Those who make contact will be

connected with someone who understands the journey of suicide bereavement and can offer support, hope and understanding.
