...Good News Only!!!

Ballyroe Lodge named new ‘Home of the Kerry Rose’ as search for 2027 Rose begins The Kerry Rose Centre has announced Ballyroe Lodge in Tralee as its new official sponsor hotel and the new “Home of the Kerry Rose”, as the search for the 2027 Kerry Rose officially gets under way. The 2027 Kerry Rose Selection Night will take place on Saturday, 8 May 2027 at Ballyroe Lodge. Continuing a long tradition, it will

be staged as a full, theatre-style live

production, mirroring the high production values seen in the International Festival selection broadcasts. Organisers are calling on women from every corner of the county, from Listowel to Kenmare and Dingle to Killarney, to apply. Parents, siblings, friends, colleagues and clubs are also encouraged to nudge someone they know who might be a good fit. In the weeks before the big night, applicants will take part in group activities, local tours and social events designed for team-building, fun and friendship. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 by 1 January 2027 and must not have turned 30 on or before 1 September 2027. They must be female or identify as female, and be Irish-born, an Irish citizen or of Irish origin through a traceable ancestor. Entrants must also live, work, study or have a meaningful connection to Kerry. Applicants must secure a local

sponsor, with a standard €300 entry sponsorship fee. Kerry Rose Centre Coordinator Suzan O’Gara said the centre was thrilled to welcome Ballyroe Lodge. She stressed that entrants do not have to perform a party piece, and that performances have no bearing on the judging. Ballyroe Lodge General Manager Jennifer Brosnan said it was an

honour to be associated with the festival. Current Kerry Rose Caoimhe Lynch encouraged women to take the leap, calling it the adventure of a lifetime. Applications are open at roseoftralee.ie, with queries to kerryrosecentre@roseoftralee.ie.

Q: "I know i need to be more active but body pains are holding me back! What can I do?" Maura, Ardfert. Kevin says... What would work well is manual therapy and resistance training to give you more pain relief. The World Health Organization recommends that adults perform at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week, plus two or more sessions of muscle-strengthening exercise. Yet for many people living with pain, even starting can feel impossible. That’s where manual therapy plays a crucial supporting role. Skilled hands-on treatment helps to reduce protective muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and restore movement confidence—allowing clients to begin resistance training safely and effectively.

Recent studies show that progressive strength training can reduce pain intensity, improve function, and boost mood, even in those with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Combining this with tailored manual therapy creates the ideal foundation for movement without fear. At KP Therapy, we guide clients from pain towards performance—using evidence-based manual techniques, education, and gradual loading strategies that meet WHO activity guidelines. The goal isn’t just pain relief—it’s restoring resilience and confidence in your body again. — Kevin Prunty, KP Therapy, Tralee Specialists in the Neuromuscular approach, Injury Rehabilitation & Movement Education

Dutch Holidaymakers to Fly Direct to Kerry in Summer 2027 Kerry Airport to welcome weekly Groningen service from April to September

Kerry Airport will welcome a new weekly charter service from the Netherlands next summer, with BBI Travel confirming flights from Groningen to Kerry every Thursday from 29 April to 9 September 2027. Operated by Sky Alps, the flights form part of BBI Travel’s expanded Ireland programme. The tour operator, which has specialised in holidays to Ireland since 1963, will offer packages including flights, accommodation and local transport. Rental cars, activities and travel insurance will also be available.

The new service will make it easier for Dutch visitors to explore Kerry and the wider west coast. Killarney, Tralee, the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way are all within easy reach, alongside the county’s golf courses, scenery and locally produced food and drink. Evelyn Crowley, Customer Service Manager at Kerry Airport, welcomed the announcement: “We are delighted that BBI Travel has chosen Kerry Airport as its new destination for 2027. This is a significant vote of confidence in Kerry and the wider south-west as a destination for Dutch holidaymakers.”

She said Kerry Airport’s location, new Arrivals Hall and efficient passenger facilities would provide visitors with a warm welcome and a convenient journey. The Kerry charter will complement BBI Travel’s returning Monday service to Ireland West Airport Knock, operating from 26 April to

6 September 2027. Together, the routes will allow visitors to fly into one airport and return from the other. BBI Travel previously operated flights from Groningen to Ireland in summer 2025. The service could not operate in 2026 because of a shortage of available aircraft.

Tralee Chamber networking event highlights business growth

Tralee Chamber members and partners gathered at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium this week for another of the Chamber’s regular networking events, with growth in the local business community a central theme. Members including Gilroy’s Green Energy Ltd and Cara Credit Union shared news of employment growth, while the attendance reflected the strength and diversity of the Chamber’s membership. Businesses ranged from long-standing Tralee names such as Walsh Brothers Shoes, which has been trading for more than 100 years, to firms and organisations from Ballyduff, Listowel, Killarney and across the

county. With members spanning retail, hospitality, professional services, sport and employment support, the Chamber brings together businesses of every size and sector. Representatives from Kerry Football Club, Employability Service Kerry, Bank of Ireland and SMBC were among those taking part in the conversations.Tralee Chamber Alliance, which describes itself as Kerry’s largest business representative organisation, said it was proud to create opportunities for members to connect, share ideas, celebrate progress and build relationships that strengthen the local economy. It thanked everyone who attended.

Cahill seeks Government supports for Ballyheigue businesses hit by water crisis Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill is liaising with Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke and other Ministers to explore financial and other supports for businesses affected by the ongoing Do Not Consume Notice on the Ballyheigue Public Water Supply. Deputy Cahill has written directly to Minister Burke seeking urgent, targeted assistance and has submitted a Parliamentary Question

14

Friday 23rd October 2026

asking what emergency supports, grants or rates relief are available or being considered. He is also in dayto-day contact with Uisce Éireann and has contacted the EPA. The disruption is placing significant pressure on businesses in Ballyheigue and surrounding areas, with hospitality and food businesses hit hardest by lost income, extra costs and uncertainty over when normal trading can resume.

Cahill said local employers should not be left to shoulder the full financial burden of a prolonged disruption to an essential public service through no fault of their own, and called for a coordinated Government response. He said restoring a safe water supply remains the immediate priority, but protecting jobs and keeping businesses viable must also be part of the response.

O’Donoghue Ring Collection joins Tourism Ireland at IMEX America Kerry’s O’Donoghue Ring Collection was among 39 Irish tourism companies that joined Tourism Ireland at IMEX America in Las Vegas last week, as part of the “Meet in Ireland” team alongside Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland. IMEX America is the largest trade show for the business events sector in the United States, bringing together decision-makers from the global corporate meetings, events and incentive travel industry. Irish hotels, conference venues, destination management companies and conference organisers took part, aiming to position Ireland as a world-class destination and secure business for 2027 and beyond. Around 2,000 commercial meetings took place on the Ireland stand, which are expected to deliver business events worth millions of euros.

David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Business Events and Luxury, said the event was a key platform for promoting Ireland to influential buyers and would help strengthen the island’s reputation as a premier business events destination. Ahead of the show, Tourism Ireland

hosted an Ireland Golf Day at Bali Hai Golf Club for more than 20 tourism partners, North American event planners and media, with the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027 approaching. Tourism Ireland aims to enable 7,500 commercial business events

meetings this year. Business travel is high value and often midweek and off season, supporting efforts to grow tourism revenue outside the summer peak.

St Michael’s Basketball Club Lixnaw continues to grow

St Michael’s Basketball Club in Lixnaw is celebrating further growth since it was re-established in 2024, with the formation of a new U16 boys team marking another milestone. The team, coached by Christina Stack and Nicola O’Brien, played their first challenge game last Thursday night against Ballymac Bobcats in Tralee. The boys impressed in a competitive encounter, showing determination, teamwork and skill, and are now preparing for the Kerry Area Basketball Board (KABB) league campaign later this month. The club also thanked Stack’s Londis Lixnaw for continuing to sponsor its kits for the new season, with particular thanks to Seamus,

Triona and the Stack family for their ongoing support. Teams across the club are preparing for the upcoming KABB leagues, and excitement is building for the season ahead. The club said its growth reflects the dedication of its players, coaches, volunteers and families, as well as the strong backing of the Lixnaw Community Centre committee, all of whom play an important role in developing basketball in the local community. The Mothers & Others social club also enjoyed a fun first night back last Tuesday. It will continue every Tuesday at 8.30pm in Lixnaw Community Centre, and new members are very welcome. Everyone at St Michael’s is looking forward to a fantastic season, with

plenty of opportunities for players to develop their skills, enjoy the game and represent the club with pride. Photo: St Michael’s U16 boys team

Ask Anna!

Nora

BBQ Pulled Pork Loaded Fries

Anna answers your health and wellbeing questions. Q: I’ve been experiencing stress, poor sleep and digestive problems and sometimes feel that everything is connected. Could herbal medicine and nutrition help and how would your approach differ from conventional treatments?

A delicious, fuss-free bank holiday treat! (serves 4)

Janet, Ballybunion

A: As a qualified Master Herbalist and Nutritionist, I believe that understanding the whole person is essential when addressing health concerns. Our bodies are interconnected and stress, digestion, sleep, hormonal balance and nutrition can all influence one another. For example, prolonged stress may affect digestive function and sleep quality, while poor sleep can influence mood, energy and overall wellbeing. Rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms, I take a holistic, personalised approach. This involves exploring your health history, diet, lifestyle, stress levels and daily routines to gain a fuller understanding of your individual needs. Herbal medicine and a balanced nutritional diet can really help support the body in a wholly holistic way, working from the inside out. My aim is to identify practical, sustainable changes and, where appropriate, recommend carefully selected herbal preparations tailored to the individual. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. I believe that listening, understanding and looking at the bigger picture are fundamental to supporting long-term health and wellbeing. My philosophy is simple: look beyond the symptoms and consider the whole person.

Add the pork, onion, BBQ sauce and spices to the slow cooker. Cook on low for 6–8 hours, or until the pork is tender and cooked through, then shred with two forks. Pile the pulled pork onto the chips, sprinkle with mozzarella and grill until melted.

GOOD NEWS ONLY! REMEMBRANCE

...Good News Only!!!

Tributes paid to Maureen Murphy, Abbeyfeale, a true Gael and champion of Irish culture

The passing of Maureen Murphy of Abbeyfeale has been mourned across North Kerry, West Limerick and well beyond. Maureen was the wife of the late Dan Joe Murphy, with whom she owned the Fáilte Bar in Abbeyfeale. The pub became known as a home of traditional music, welcoming leading musicians from England, America and all over Ireland.

Born in Birmingham, Maureen became a fluent Irish speaker and used the language regularly. She was an outstanding Irish dancing teacher and adjudicator until her retirement, and was devoted to Irish music, song, and solo and figure dancing. She was also a regular visitor to Knocknagoshel Community Centre. Dan Joe was an accomplished accordion player who had his own band in Birmingham. The couple married in 1966, with Dan’s first

cousin, author and Knocknagoshel native Donal P. Murphy, as best man. Maureen’s father was Paddy Cleary of Dublin, and her mother, Bridget, was from Mayo. Her profile and wedding photograph appeared in Donal’s book The History of Knocknagoshel 1890 to 2023 and in his second novel, Go West Young Man.

The large attendance at her funeral in Abbeyfeale Funeral Home on Sunday Sept 27th , and the many people who travelled from all over Ireland and England for Monday’s Mass in Abbeyfeale Parish Church, reflected her popularity. Among them were her sisters-in-law from Dublin, Una Kinsella and Betty Barry, together with Billy Kinsella, Mitchel Barry and their spouses, and many cousins from Birmingham. Ten musicians performed behind the altar, a performance the celebrant said he was delighted with, as his

own father was a traditional fiddle player all his life. Maureen is survived by her daughter Eilis, sons Donal, Sean and Kevin, and their families, who are also steeped in Irish culture and heritage.

The antique world and local community are mourning the sad passing of Robin of Ballina, Tipperary, following a bravely fought health battle. A O’Donnell larger-than-life character full of laughter and stories, Robin was a legendary figure across Ireland as the

long-time organizer of Hibernian Antiques Fairs. For over three decades, Robin was a deeply valued, familiar presence in County Kerry. He was both a cherished longtime friend and a loyal customer of The Tralee Advertiser, working closely with past owner Mark Leen and present owner Chris Shortt. Robin’s visits to Kerry were always a highlight, usually involving bright conversations about his beloved Jaguar car, his clients, and his infamous yellow event signs before anyone ever got around to discussing business. He was a breath of fresh air, a true gentleman, and an honest dealer who lived life to the full. Robin leaves a lasting void in the trade and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone at The Tralee Advertiser.

Rest in Peace Christy. Everyone at St Brendans Park FC and Tralee is

deeply saddened by the passing last Sunday of their beloved President and founding member, Christy Leahy. Christy dedicated a lifetime to “The Park “ and to soccer in Kerry, he will be greatly missed.

Minister Foley opens new Killorglin home for people with disabilities Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley has officially opened Clarealta House, a new home in Ardmoneel, Killorglin, for people with disabilities. The house is now home to four residents, who have 24-hour staff support. It has been adapted to meet their individual needs, with a kitchen for home-cooked meals, two sitting rooms and bedrooms that residents personalised with their own furniture and belongings. The service is funded by the Department of Children through the HSE and run by Saint John of God Community Services Kerry. This year,

HSE South West is providing €28.74 million to the organisation, including funding for the opening of Clarealta House. The development was delivered in co-operation with Saint John of God Housing Association, Kerry County Council, staff and the families of the residents. The opening ceremony included a tribute to Hannah, who had been due to move in but sadly passed away during the house’s development. A tree was planted in her memory. Minister Foley said she hoped the house would be filled with friendship, laughter, shared meals,

personal achievements and all the ordinary moments that turn a house into a home. She thanked Saint John of God Community Services Kerry for its commitment to people with intellectual disabilities in Killorglin and across Kerry, and acknowledged all those who helped bring the service to fruition, describing it as a testament to what can be achieved when people work together with a shared purpose. Saint John of God Community Services Kerry supports more than 300 children and adults with disabilities through its training, employment, social and residential

programmes. Nationally, over 9,000 people with disabilities live in residential services, and providing further places is a key Government priority.

Minister Foley welcomes two more gardaí for Tralee Minister Norma Foley has welcomed the allocation of two additional gardaí to Kerry, both of whom will be based in Tralee. This brings the number of gardaí allocated to the county since last year to 15, including eight in Tralee, four in Killarney and one in Listowel. The new gardaí are among those who graduated at today’s passing out ceremony at the Garda College in Templemore.

26

Friday 23rd October 2026

Minister Foley said the two graduates were en route to Kerry, describing it as a further strengthening of garda resources in the county. She acknowledged the work of An Garda Síochána across Kerry and thanked Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan.

Kerry student Eoin Cashman wins €24,000 Naughton Foundation Scholarship

County Kerry student Eoin Cashman has been awarded a €24,000 Naughton Foundation Scholarship at a ceremony in Trinity College’s Business School in Dublin on Saturday, 17 October. Founding patron Carmel Naughton was joined by Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill to present awards to this year’s winners. Eoin, a former student of Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra, will study Physics and Astrophysics at University College Cork. His former school

received €1,000 towards its science facilities in recognition of its support. The scholarships support exceptional students pursuing degrees in engineering, science, technology and mathematics. Established by Dr Martin and Carmel Naughton in 2008, the foundation has awarded over €7 million to more than 480 students. Expanded nationwide in 2016, it guarantees at least one scholarship in every county. Each award provides €6,000 a year towards a

three- or four-year degree, with 37 scholarships presented this year. Carmel Naughton said the occasion was emotional without Martin present, but that recognising the ambition and potential of the recipients was the best way to celebrate his legacy. She said the family is committed to carrying it forward. Minister Carroll MacNeill congratulated the winners, saying they had given reason to be hopeful about the future, and paid tribute

to Martin Naughton’s belief in education and opportunity for young people.

Kerry cleaning firm wins three national industry awards

Kerry-based ABC Cleaning has taken home three awards at the 2026 Irish Contract Cleaning Association (ICCA) Industry Awards, held at the Round Room in Dublin’s Mansion House on Friday, 16 October. Hosted by broadcaster Mario Rosenstock, the biennial awards recognise excellence across an industry that employs more than 30,000 people in Ireland. Competing against some of the country’s largest cleaning and facilities management companies, the family-run business won two awards for its work at the Temmler Ireland (Aenova Group) pharmaceutical facility in Killorglin and a third for its long-standing contract at Munster Technological University (MTU) Kerry. ABC was named Best Cleaned Manufacturing/Industrial Premises in

Ireland for its Temmler work. Judges described it as a truly deserving winner, praising disciplined cleaning, structured supervision and a strong focus on Good Manufacturing Practice compliance. Colleague Mate Pusztai was named Best Site Operative in the same category, with judges noting his understanding of the high standards required in a production environment. Long-serving supervisor Faye Diggins won Best Supervisor in the Educational Premises category for her work at MTU Kerry, where ABC has provided cleaning services for more than 16 years. Judges called her an exceptional supervisor, and she was visibly delighted to accept the award. Operating for more than 30 years, ABC holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, and

Campaign launched to save North Kerry’s 360 Motorsports Park Kerry Motorsport News has launched an independent campaign to safeguard the future of 360 Motorsports Park in Kilflynn, which it describes as the only dedicated off-road testing, driver development and motorsport facility in the south of Ireland. Kerry County Council has said it cannot comment publicly on the site because the matter is sub judice. A court hearing, scheduled for this week, was postponed because of the national strike. Operated by Kerry Motorsport Park Ltd, the venue has served the region

for nearly 40 years. It was originally used by the South Coast Hot Rod Club and the Kingdom Hot Rod Club, and has been an entry-level stepping stone for generations of local competitors. The campaign says its upgraded track has helped develop young Kerry drift drivers who went on to compete at Mondello Park. Campaigners also point to the park’s role in road safety. They note that councillors including Deirdre Ferris and Sam Locke have tabled motions on unruly driving on public roads and illegal quad use on North Kerry beaches, and argue the park offers

a legal, supervised and insured alternative. They say losing the facility would leave Kerry, home to one of Ireland’s highest concentrations of rally and motorsport competitors, without any controlled practice ground. The park operates without public funding, while supporting local businesses, transport providers and hospitality. Kerry Motorsport News says it will keep advocating for solutions, including recognition of the site’s long-standing use.

Other Voices marks 25 years with first six acts for St James’ Church Other Voices returns to Dingle from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November for its

25th edition, with the first six acts announced for the stage at St James’ Church: The Waterboys, Gilla Band, Julia Jacklin, Lambrini Girls, Knats and Brìghde Chaimbeul. Organisers say the line-up captures the spirit of the festival, bringing together artists who do things their own way under one small roof. The Waterboys return to the church, with Mike Scott’s band long associated with the west of Ireland through songs such as Fisherman’s Blues and The Whole of the Moon. Dublin’s Gilla Band, known for loud, abrasive and unpredictable guitar music, will also perform. Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin, whose songs are wry, tender and honest, makes her St James’ debut, with new album The Gem. Brighton punk duo Lambrini Girls bring their furious, funny and political live show, while Newcastle jazz collective Knats offer irresistible grooves and joy. Completing the six is Isle of Skye musician Brìghde Chaimbeul, who takes the Scottish smallpipes in unexpected directions. More church artists and details of the wider festival programme will follow in the coming weeks. The Jameson Music Trail also returns, with tickets on sale from Friday 23 October via Eventbrite. Performances will feature in a 25th anniversary television series in early 2027 and stream live on the Other Voices YouTube channel, with a small number of golden tickets available through upcoming competitions.

Kerry and Tralee groups invited to apply for Catchment Support Fund 2027

Community groups and nongovernmental organisations across Kerry, including those in Tralee and its surrounding rivers, lakes and coastal areas, are being invited to apply for the Catchment Support Fund 2027, which was launched on 12 October by the River Basin Management Service. Funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the fund helps groups working to improve water quality by covering core running costs and building their capacity to deliver community-based projects. In 2026, €1,112,737 was awarded to 56 groups across 20 counties, plus two national projects, up from €856,260 for 40 groups in 2025. Minister of State Christopher O’Sullivan said community groups

play a vital role in protecting rivers, lakes and coastal waters and in delivering Ireland’s Water Action Plan, and encouraged local groups to apply. Anthony Coleman, Director of Services at the River Basin Management Service, said support is essential as preparation for the Fourth Cycle River Basin Management Plan intensifies in 2027. Two streams are available. Stream 1 covers essential organisational costs such as legal fees, insurance, accountancy, website support and promotional materials. Stream 2 offers capacity-building funding for staff costs, rent and rates, for organisations with CLG status (or equivalent) and a proven track record with the service.

Kerry groups should speak to their local Community Water Officer or River Basin Management Service representative. The deadline is 11.30pm on 16 November 2026,

with applications made through consult.riverbasin.ie or details at www.riverbasin.ie/catchmentsupport-fund.

GOOD NEWS ONLY!

ADVERTISING DOESN’T COST... IT PAYS!

...Good News Only!!! TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER AUSTIN STACKS GAA CLUB NOTES Juvenile Football: The U6, U7 & U8 groups have wrapped up a brilliant 2026 season. After the end-ofseason finals, the Bracker Regan, Jimmy Barry & Paddy Drummond Memorial Cups and the Cecil O’Connor Memorial Shield are resting safely on Rock sideboards. The U11/12 and U16 groups have also finished for the year, and the U14s look forward to a medal presentation for their County League B and Central League A campaigns. U9/10 Boys: The finals of the Gary Fernane Cup & John Galvin Cup take place this Sunday, October 25th, in Connolly Park, with a pre-match parade at 11:05am. The Rockies, Black ‘n’ Amber, Street of Champions & The Rock are all in the mix, and a few surprises are expected. College Football & Hurling: The Green CBS U17s, with several Rock players on board, beat ISK Killorglin 2-15 to 3-08 in the Frewen Cup quarter-final, and the semi-final is on November 7th. The Green U19 hurlers made history with a first round Harty Cup win over Pobalscoil Chaiseal Mumhan, 2-17 to 1-15.

to all coaches, parents and Bord na nÓg. Their end-of-season medals evening is on Friday, October 30th, at 6pm. U6 Boys & Girls: The sun shone on the last fun training session of the year, ending ten months of hard work. Details of the U6 awards night will follow. U14 Boys Awards Night: The U14 boys celebrated their season with their annual get-together in the clubhouse. Diarmuid O’Connor presented the medals & trophies. Mothers & Others: Training continues every Monday night. Contact Janice on 085-8424939, Helen on 087-7631977 or Susan on 086-3977307. Club Walking Group: The Na Gaeilgoers walking group is out again this Thursday, October 22nd, on the 5km route from the main car park at 7:30pm. All welcome, hi-vis jackets essential. ST PATS GAA NOTES Sympathy: The club extends its sympathy to the families & friends of John Bradley, Knocknagree, Michael Aherne, Moyderwell, and George Kelly, Lohercannon.

Scór na nÓg: Scór na nÓg takes place in early November and the club is looking for under-17 members to represent Austin Stacks in categories including singing, set dancing, quiz, storytelling & instrumental groups. Contact any club executive member.

TRALEE PARNELLS HURLING AND CAMOGIE CLUB U16 Camogie, Division One Champions: What a way to finish the season for the U16 girls, who were crowned Division One champions in sun-soaked Crotta with a comprehensive win over Causeway. Causeway made Parnells work hard in the first half, but the girls pulled away after the break with some fantastic scores. They finish the year as both League & Championship winners, and six players now move up to Minor. Thanks to Mike Hennessy and his team for officiating, Crotta GAA for the pitch, the County Board officers & the management team of David, Áine, Brian & Lynda, who also treated the girls to pizzas to celebrate.

NA GAEIL GAA CLUB NOTES U8 Boys: The U8s finished up on a glorious Sunday morning after a season of 36 training sessions & nine Go-Games fixtures. They also hosted the U8s Go-Games festival, which brought 171 kids from seven clubs together. Thanks

Harty Cup: Well done to CBS The Green, Tralee, who made history with their Harty Cup win over Cashel Community School, 2-17 to 1-15. A special mention to the club’s own players in the panel and to club member Mark Ryall on the management team.

Having trailed 0-3 at the break, they scored 2-4 without reply in the final eight minutes. The U19 footballers open their Corn Uí Mhuirí campaign on November 11th, and the U15s were scheduled to play Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in the Russell Cup final in Austin Stack Park on Thursday.

U21 Hurling Championship: Hard luck to the U21 hurlers, who were beaten by a stronger St Brendan’s Ardfert side in the county semi-final on Friday. The lads can be very proud, having reached a county semi-final at this grade for the first time in the club’s history. Their attention now turns to the North Kerry Championship, which gets underway in the coming weeks. KERRY FC - SSE AIRTRICITY MEN’S FIRST DIVISION History made at a sold-out Mounthawk Park on Friday night. Kerry FC drew 1-1 with newly crowned champions Cork City, and that point was enough to secure a place in the First Division playoffs for the first time in the club’s fouryear history. Cork City took the lead through Ruairi Keating before Vince Borden levelled with a strike at the near post. It was a tight, tense second half, and Matthew Connor made a brilliant late save to deny Cork substitute Sean Maguire and keep the scores level. Colin Healy’s side now face Bray Wanderers over two legs in the semi-final, next Saturday and Tuesday. GARVEY’S TRALEE WARRIORS - DOMINO’S MEN’S SUPER LEAGUE Garvey’s Tralee Warriors went

down 104-93 to UCD Marian in Belfield after leading 75-71 going into the final quarter. In a game of runs and counter runs, Warriors led 26-21 after the first quarter, but Marian’s Isaiah Taylor hit 43 points and the college side finished strongly. Next up is a double header, starting with the visit of unbeaten Killester to Castleisland Community Centre this Saturday at 7:30pm. On Bank Holiday Monday, Warriors travel to Neptune Stadium for a 4pm tip-off, with the men’s U20s meeting Neptune at 1pm. UNIQUELY TRALEE WARRIORS - DOMINO’S WOMEN’S NATIONAL League Division One The wait for a first win goes on after a 68-58 defeat away to Moy Tolka Rovers. Warriors made a flying start and led 20-6 early on, then 37-30 at half time. Rovers fought back to lead 50-47 going into the final quarter and held on from there. Next up is another trip to Dublin to face Swords Thunder in the AALSA near Dublin Airport on Saturday at 3:45pm. The Frewen Cup semi-final date still needs checking with the club, since November 7th is a Saturday this year and the notes say Friday.
