Owned by Niall and Vivian Nolan, the Tralee store was celebrated for its excellence in fresh food, store presentation, customer service, and strong community focus. The awards, hosted by BWG Foods at the Seafield Hotel & Spa Resort in Gorey, Co. Wexford, are organised in partnership with Solution Management Associates (SMA) and involve a detailed assessment to
identify Ireland’s best retailers.
Nolan’s was one of six Kerry stores to earn recognition, alongside:

• O’Sullivan’s Londis Killorglin (Michael & Joan O’Sullivan)
• Stack’s Londis Lixnaw (Seamus Stack)

Orbitus, the Kerry-based legal and tax advisory firm, has announced the launch of a dedicated Human Resources (HR) division as part of its ambitious growth strategy. The expansion coincides with the company’s move to a larger headquarters in Tralee and a recruitment drive that will see 15 new positions created across technology, tax, and customer experience.
The new HR division will be led by experienced HR specialist Jennifer O’Brien and will offer comprehensive services—from employee relations and recruitment to compliance, workforce planning, engagement, and culture. By combining HR expertise with legal and tax knowledge, Orbitus aims to provide integrated solutions for businesses facing complex organisational challenges.
Founded in 2023 with just four staff in Tralee, Orbitus has grown rapidly to a team of 32 and expects to more than double its workforce within two years. The new premises in Tralee have been designed to accommodate this expansion and improve collaboration as the firm grows nationally.
Benjamin Hardy of Orbitus said, “HR challenges often overlap with legal and tax considerations. Launching our HR division strengthens our ability to support organisations strategically while ensuring compliance and good governance. Our new headquarters reflects the pace of our growth and our longterm investment in Kerry.”
Jennifer O’Brien added, “Irish employers face evolving challenges— talent shortages, hybrid working,
and compliance demands—but also opportunities to invest in culture and leadership. Orbitus HR will help businesses align people strategy with business goals and thrive in the
future of work.”
Orbitus HR joins Orbitus Group’s established law, tax, compliance, and strategic planning services.

Food enthusiasts can also learn from the masters through a series
of festival masterclasses. Highlights include Michelin-starred chef Takashi Miyazaki of Ichigo Ichie, award-winning pâtissière Asia Mahealani McDonagh, and Dingle’s own Peter White, founding member and former president of the Irish Whiskey Society.
Sustainability is once again central to the festival. Reusable stainless-steel bowls will also be available to rent, while festival packs featuring bamboo bowls and cutlery sets will be on sale.
Other highlights include the ever-popular Taste Trail, where a ticket booklet unlocks delicious

Jigsaw, the youth mental health charity, has announced the return of its annual Swim for Jigsaw fundraiser, inviting people across Kerry to take to the sea in support of young people’s mental health. The event combines the proven benefits of open-water swimming with community fundraising for Jigsaw’s free therapy and support services. Recent research highlights just how powerful sea swimming can be. A major international study, involving more than 1,200 swims across 19 countries, found that immersing in natural waters delivers significantly higher well-being than swimming
in open-air pools. Researchers linked this to feelings of autonomy and competence — key drivers of happiness and satisfaction.
“Taking a dip in the sea has long been a favourite pastime in Kerry, and it’s no surprise that it boosts mental health,” said Susan Geaney of Jigsaw. “Even a short swim can bring calm, clarity and confidence.
Swim for Jigsaw is a fantastic way for people to connect, feel supported, and raise vital funds for youth mental health.”

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has confirmed it has met the targets of its Driving Test Action Plan, cutting average waiting times to just 10 weeks and boosting capacity nationwide.
Between June and August 2025, the RSA conducted over 74,000 driving tests—a 17% increase on the same period last year. More than 15,000 of these were completed through overtime, showcasing the dedication and flexibility of driver testers, administrative teams, and newly recruited staff. Applications for tests remain at record highs, yet waiting times have improved in every county, with the busiest centres—Tallaght, Finglas, Cork, Naas, and Dun Laoghaire—seeing significant progress. New test centres in Sandyford and Drogheda are nearing completion, while a third site in Munster is advancing.
RSA COO Brendan Walsh praised the “extraordinary team effort” that made these achievements possible, thanking staff, drivers, and instructors for their patience and commitment during this high-demand period.
