Tralee Architect ,Jasmine, Takes Centre Stage at Global Singapore Design Festival A talented young architect from Tralee has earned international recognition after presenting her groundbreaking architectural project at one of the world’s leading design festivals. Jasmine Ryle was invited as a special guest to Archifest 2026 Singapore, where she showcased her innovative regenerative architecture
project, Symbiosis. The invitation came after a member of the festival’s judging panel spotted her entry in an international architecture competition and encouraged her to present her work at the prestigious event. During the festival, Jasmine met architects, university representatives, industry leaders and sponsors from around the world, discussing her vision for the future of sustainable architecture. Originally from Tralee, Jasmine studied architecture and design in Paris, where she developed a passion for regenerative architecture, biophilic design and creating spaces that strengthen the relationship between people and nature. Her project, Symbiosis, reimagines buildings as living ecosystems that breathe, adapt and work in harmony with their surroundings. Combining sustainable materials with renewable energy, water management,
urban farming, hydroponics and aquaponics, the concept creates buildings that not only reduce their environmental impact but actively contribute to biodiversity and community wellbeing. At the heart of the design is a community café and restaurant using food grown on site, bringing together sustainable food production and everyday social interaction. Following her graduation in 2025, Jasmine moved to Miami, where she now works with MV Group USA, a company specialising in luxury residential architecture and construction. Before relocating to the United States, she gained valuable experience with the prestigious Paris design firm CB Surfaces. Her work reflects a belief that the buildings of the future should do more than minimise environmental impact – they should actively
give back by supporting nature, producing resources and creating healthier, more connected communities. Jasmine’s appearance at Archifest Singapore marks another significant milestone in the career of the gifted Tralee designer, whose innovative ideas are already attracting international attention.
“Canella Lane” to Sponsor Killarney Races Best Dressed Day Fashion will take centre stage at this year’s Killarney Races August Festival as Irish online boutique Canella Lane sponsors the eagerly anticipated Best Dressed Day on Saturday, August 22. The three-day festival runs from Thursday, August 20 to Saturday, August 22, beginning with GMIB Raceday on Thursday, followed by Kelliher’s Toyota Raceday on Friday before culminating in the stylish finale on Saturday. Adding star appeal to the occasion, popular fashion influencers Caoimhe McGinley and Michelle Fitzpatrick
will judge the Best Dressed competition. Caoimhe, a Tyrone native and mother of four, is well known for sharing fashion, beauty and family lifestyle content, while Michelle has built a strong following with her timeless styling advice for women over 50. The judges will be on the lookout for the most stylish racegoers, with luxury prizes up for grabs, including a dream trip to Paris or Milan for both the best-dressed lady and gentleman. Canella Lane said it was delighted to partner with the prestigious event,
describing the festival as the perfect celebration of fashion, confidence and style. Racegoers can also look forward to a fantastic day of racing and entertainment, with an after-racing performance by the hugely popular Byrne Brothers from Donegal. Fresh from touring the United States with The High Kings, the acclaimed traditional Irish music group has amassed more than 50 million online video views and is regarded as one of Ireland’s most popular trad acts. Ask Anna!
Ask the KP therapy team
Anna answers your health and wellbeing questions. I often feel bloated and uncomfortable after eating and my digestion can be quite irregular. What might be causing this and are there any dietary or herbal approaches that could support a healthier gut? Mike, Tralee Bloating, abdominal discomfort and irregular digestion are common experiences and the digestive system is influenced by many factors, including diet, lifestyle, stress and the gut microbiome. Increasingly, attention is also being given to the gut–brain connection: the two systems communicate continuously through the nervous system, hormones and chemical messengers, meaning that emotional wellbeing and digestive health can be closely linked. From a nutritional perspective, a varied diet containing a good balance of fibre, plant foods, protein and healthy fats provides the nutrients needed to support normal digestive function and a diverse gut microbiome. Adequate hydration and regular eating patterns can also contribute to comfortable digestion and healthy bowel function. Herbalism offers a long-standing tradition of supporting the digestive system through plants and natural preparations. Herbal practitioners consider the digestive system as part of the wider body, recognising that digestion, nervous system function and overall wellbeing are interconnected. Traditionally, herbal medicine has used plants to support processes such as digestion, comfortable bowel function and the body's natural response to stress. A holistic understanding of gut health therefore looks beyond digestion alone. Nourishing the body, supporting the nervous system and maintaining a diverse gut environment can all form part of a broader approach to digestive wellbeing.

Surviving the Rose of Tralee: Keep Your Feet Happy! My tips for the Roses & Escorts . The Rose of Tralee is a whirlwind of glamour, excitement and, let’s be honest, a serious amount of time on your feet. Looking after your feet can make the festival experience far more enjoyable. Start with footwear. Beautiful shoes may look fantastic, but if they pinch, rub or leave you wincing after an hour, they’re not your friends. Break shoes in before the festival, and consider cushioned insoles or gel pads for comfort. If possible, alternate smarter shoes with a comfortable pair during downtime. Don’t wait until your feet are screaming for help. Take every opportunity to sit, even for five minutes. When you can, put your feet up to reduce swelling, particularly after long days of standing, walking and dancing. Blister plasters are worth having in your bag, along with spare tights or socks. Remember comfortable doesn’t have to mean unfashionable—plenty of elegant shoes offer proper support. Most importantly, listen to your body. A little preparation means you can concentrate on the memories, the people and the fun rather than wondering when you’ll finally get to sit. That’s it for the Roses ... Escorts take note too... KP Therapy are open this weekend if ye need any support. We’ve got your back.!
Have a good weekend!

Pedal for Grace Returns to Firies for Milestone Fifth Fundraiser The popular Pedal for Grace charity event returns to Firies on Saturday, September 5, with organisers hoping to surpass €90,000 raised for Vision Ireland since the fundraiser began five years ago. Held in honour of local girl Grace O’Sullivan, the event supports Vision Ireland and raises awareness of Stargardt disease, a rare inherited eye condition that causes progressive vision loss. Despite her condition, Grace continues to inspire others through her determination, competing successfully in Irish
dancing at both All-Ireland and World Championship level. Participants can choose from a 60km cycle, 14km family cycle or a 5km Molahiffe Walk, with registration from 8am at Firies Community Centre. Tandem cyclists are also welcome, making the event inclusive for people of all abilities. The day’s activities continue at Henderson’s Bar, Ballinivarrig, with a BBQ, spot prizes, live music from Mike Kerins, DJ Jonathan Keane and MC Alan Finn. Organisers are encouraging cyclists,
walkers, families and supporters from across Kerry to get involved and help make the fifth Pedal for Grace the biggest yet, with every euro raised helping Vision Ireland
continue its vital services for people living with sight loss.

Kerry County Museum Opens Its Doors for Free Festival and Heritage Week Programme Kerry County Museum is inviting locals and visitors to enjoy a packed programme of free events during Féile Thrá Lí, the Rose of Tralee International Festival and National Heritage Week. From August 14 to 22, admission to the museum will be free, giving everyone the chance to explore
its award-winning Medieval Experience and Archaeology Hall. Visitors can step back into medieval Tralee, wander through a recreated medieval street, dress in period costume and discover Kerry’s rich history through interactive displays. One of this year’s highlights is Gowns of Glory, the popular exhibition celebrating the iconic gowns worn by Rose of Tralee winners over the decades. For the first time, the exhibition will be hosted at The Rose Hotel, where Kerry County Museum staff will be on hand daily from 10am to 7pm to share the stories behind the dresses and their place in Festival history. The exhibition also forms part of a unique Festival heritage trail, linking The Rose Hotel with the Rose Garden, the Rose of Tralee statue, Tralee Library’s memorabilia
exhibition and Kerry County Museum. Education Officer Claudia Kohler said the museum is delighted to welcome people of all ages with a programme celebrating both Kerry’s heritage and the traditions of the Rose of Tralee Festival. Other free events include Reeling in the Roses (August 15-19), where visitors can share Festival memories and view archive footage, Living History with Helena Stackpoole on August 19, featuring storytelling, traditional crafts and medieval life, and prehistoric casting demonstrations by sculptor Holger Lönze on August 20 and 21. All events are free, suitable for all ages and no booking is required.
Visitors should note that entry to Kerry County Museum is through the Tralee Tourist Information Office on the left-hand side of the Ashe Memorial Hall building on Denny Street. For more information, contact Kerry County Museum on 066 712 7777 or email education@kerrymuseum.ie
Rose of Tralee Festival Launches as 32 Roses Prepare for Tralee
The countdown to one of Ireland’s best-loved festivals is officially underway after hosts Dáithí Ó Sé and Kathryn Thomas welcomed the 32 Roses at the launch of the 66th Rose of Tralee International Festival in St Helen’s Hotel, Stillorgan, Dublin. With Festival celebrations beginning in Tralee on Friday, August 14, thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the town for five days of entertainment, music, community events and the world-famous Rose Selection. Celebrating Irish heritage, culture and the global Irish community, the Festival continues to bring together young women from Ireland and across the world, each with their own unique story. The week will culminate in the live selection of the 2026 International Rose of Tralee, broadcast on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Monday, August 17, and Tuesday, August 18, beginning at 8pm before resuming after the Nine O’Clock News.
Dáithí Ó Sé said returning to Tralee each August is always a special occasion. He said meeting the Roses at the beginning of Festival week and getting to know their personalities and stories makes their appearance on the live television shows even more meaningful. Kathryn Thomas said while many people see August as the end of the summer holidays, for her it marks the beginning of one of the highlights of the year. She described this year’s Roses as an inspiring group of women and said she is looking forward to returning to Tralee for another unforgettable Festival. Viewers around the world will once again be able to watch all the action live and on demand through RTÉ Player, with additional interviews, archive footage and behind-thescenes features available across RTÉ’s digital and social media platforms. Returning to the Dome this year is Carl Mullan, who resumes his role
Hosts Dáithí Ó Sé and Kathryn Thomas rose to the occasion as they officially launched the 2026 Rose of Tralee International Festival, joined by this year’s 32 Roses at St Helen’s Hotel, Stillorgan, Dublin. With the Roses now officially introduced, anticipation is building for another memorable week as Tralee prepares to welcome visitors from across Ireland and around the globe.
as Master of Ceremonies, bringing his trademark humour and energy to the live shows. James Patrice also returns as the official Rose Reporter, capturing the fun and excitement behind the scenes throughout Festival week.

Cara Credit Union Unveils Newly Refurbished Tralee Branch.
Cara Credit Union is proud to announce the official reopening of its newly refurbished Tralee branch, marking a significant investment in member experience, accessibility, and the future of community banking. The modernised branch has been redesigned to offer a brighter, more welcoming environment with improved privacy, upgraded technology, and enhanced service areas for members. Located in the heart of Tralee, the refreshed branch reflects Cara Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities while delivering the highest standard of
financial services.
Speaking at the reopening, Kate Walsh, Branch Manager of Cara Credit Union Tralee, said: “This refurbishment is all about our members. We wanted to create a space that feels warm, modern, and easy to navigate — a branch that reflects the trust our members place in us every day. Our team is excited to welcome everyone in to experience the new look, and we’re proud to continue serving the people of Tralee with the same dedication and care as always.” The redesign includes improved accessibility features, upgraded member service desks, enhanced digital supports and a refreshed layout that prioritises comfort and confidentiality.
John O’Regan, Chairperson of Cara Credit Union, highlighted the strategic importance of the investment: “Cara Credit Union is deeply rooted in the communities we serve, and this refurbishment demonstrates our commitment to remaining a strong, progressive, and member focused financial institution. The Tralee branch has always been central to our identity, and this modernisation ensures we are ready to meet the evolving needs of our members for many years to come.”
The reopening of the Tralee branch is part of Cara Credit Union’s broader programme of investment across its branch network, ensuring members continue to benefit from accessible, community based financial services supported by modern infrastructure and technology. Cara Credit Union invites all members — and the wider community — to visit the refurbished branch and experience the new space firsthand.
Sean Murphy Helps Bring Rory Gallagher Tribute to The Festival
Tralee businessman Sean Murphy is once again playing a key role in helping make this year’s Féile Thrá Lí a memorable one.
Well known as the owner of Sean Murphy Electrical, Sean has been responsible for the spectacular festival lighting that transforms Tralee each August for many years. As well as lighting up the town, he is also a long-time supporter of the free street entertainment programme, helping organisers deliver an even bigger and better festival each year. This year, Sean is proudly sponsoring Crest of a Wave, one of Ireland’s
leading Rory Gallagher tribute bands, who will perform in The Square on Saturday, August 15, at 7.30pm. The Dublin-based band promises a high-energy blues and rock performance, celebrating the legendary Rory Gallagher with a set featuring Taste classics, favourites from the iconic Irish Tour ’74, and electrifying hits from Rory’s celebrated Stage Struck era. Crest of a Wave has become a regular favourite at the internationally renowned Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon, performing there from 2023 to 2025. The band

also appeared at the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival in the Netherlands this year and has headlined Dublin’s popular Rory Night concerts. Festival organisers have thanked Sean Murphy for his continued generosity and support, which helps keep Féile Thrá Lí’s entertainment programme free for everyone. Music fans are encouraged to head to The Square on Saturday evening for what promises to be one of the
standout live performances of this year’s festival.

LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE ! ...Good News Only!!!
THERE COMES AN AGE WHERE YOU DON’T CARE HOW YOU LOOK IN PHOTOS ANYMORE. YOU JUST WANT TO LOOK GOOD IN MRIS, ULTRASOUNDS, AND CT SCANS. L’VE DECIDED I’M GOING TO AVOID EVERYTHING THAT MAKES ME FAT: PICTURES, MIRRORS, SCALES... SAD NEWS. I BROKE UP WITH MY GIRLFRIEND LORRAINE BECAUSE I WAS SEEING ANOTHER GIRL NAMED CLAIRE LEE. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT I CAN SEE CLAIRE LEE NOW LORRAINE IS GONE WENT TO THE BATHROOM WITHOUT MY PHONE TODAY… JUST LIKE MY ANCESTORS USED TO. CARS THESE DAYS HAVE TOO MANY GADGETS. I TRIED TO REVERSE, AND IT PLAYED A VIDEO OF SOMEBODY GETTING RUN OVER BY A CAR I CAN’T WAIT TO RETIRE SO L CAN GET UP AT 6 AND GO DRIVE AROUND REALLY SLOWLY AND MAKE EVERYONE LATE FOR WORK. I FINALLY REALISED WHY TREES DON’T HAVE TEETH. TURNS OUT THEY’RE ALL BARK AND NO BITE DON’T WORRY ABOUT GETTING OLDER, YOU’RE STILL GONNA DO DUMB STUFF ONLY SLOWER BRAIN AT 3AM: I CAN SEE YOU’RE TRYING TO SLEEP, SO I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER YOU A SELECTION OF EVERY MEMORY, UNRESOLVED ISSUE, MISTAKE, OR THING YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID OR DONE TODAY OR IN THE PAST 40-YEARS! EATING A SECOND COOKIE BECAUSE I ATE THE FIRST ONE ABSENTMINDEDLY AND DIDN’T APPRECIATE IT ENOUGH.

GOOD NEWS ONLY!
ADVERTISING DOESN’T COST... IT PAYS!
...Good NewsSPORT Only!!! TALKING WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER KERINS O’RAHILLYS GAA CLUB NOTES Senior Championship - Round 1: A powerful opening statement in Group 4 of the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Football Club Championship as the Blues beat Castleisland Desmonds 4-20 to 1-14 in Currow. After a tight first half with the breeze against them, goals from Ben Hanafin and Barry John Keane helped build a 2-07 to 1-06 interval lead before Tomás Kennedy and Conor Hayes netted in a dominant second half. Darragh O’Connor finished with six points. Round 2 sees the Blues travel to face Glenflesk on Sunday August 16th at 4pm. U16 Boys County League Final: Hard luck to the U16s who fell short in the Lee Strand County League Final against a strong South Kerry combination. A tremendous effort all year and a massive credit to their families and the club. U12 Boys: Two highly competitive home games against Churchill at Pat Healy Park with a great level of skill on display. Sunday Academy: A hive of activity at Ballyrickard on Sunday morning with the U6s, U8 boys, U10 boys and U8 and U10 girls all in action.
U10 Boys: Upcoming fixtures include the Fossa U10 blitz on Saturday August 15th and the Salthill blitz in Galway on Saturday September 12th. NA GAEIL GAA CLUB NOTES Summer Camp: A wonderful week of football, fun and sunshine at Campa Samhraidh Peile Na Gaeil 2026. Kerry player Diarmuid Ó Conchúir visited to share advice with the young footballers and Avril Doyle brought along the AllIreland Minor B Cup, which she played a key role in winning. Every camper received a football to take home and keep up the practice. Senior Men’s Club Championship: Host Milltown/Castlemaine in the Kerry Petroleum Senior Club Championship next Saturday at 4pm. Senior Ladies Championship: The senior ladies open their county championship campaign at home against Clounmacon next Sunday in Killeen at 12pm. U8 Boys: Travelled to John Mitchels on Sunday morning with improvements shown once kick outs and defensive marking clicked into place. Well done to all involved.
Rose of Tralee U13 Cup: Na Gaeil and Kerins O’Rahillys will jointly host the 2026 Bon Secours Rose Cup next Saturday, with the first game in Killeen at 10:30am and finals at Na Gaeil at 2:45pm. 16 clubs from across Kerry and beyond are taking part.
Rose Cup: Na Gaeil and Kerins O’Rahillys jointly host the 2026 Bon Secours Rose Cup for U13 boys next Saturday. First game at 10:30am in Killeen.
AUSTIN STACKS GAA CLUB NOTES Senior Championship - Round 1: A solid 0-18 to 0-10 win over Templenoe in Connolly Park to open the club championship campaign.
ST PATS GAA NOTES Seniors: Next game is Round 2 of the Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier against Keel at 4pm in Blennerville on Saturday August 15th. All support welcome.
Stacks led 0-09 to 0-01 at half time and, despite Templenoe cutting the gap to three midway through the second half, Stacks finished strongly with five unanswered points to seal a comfortable eight-point victory. Next up: away to Kenmare in Round 2 on Saturday at 7pm. A big Stacks support is encouraged for the trip to face the County League champions.
U14 Boys: A competitive display away to Annascaul/Lispole, level at half time before tiring in the closing stages. AJ Turner outstanding in goals with a superb penalty save. Cillian Enright produced his best performance of the season. Final score: St Pats 5-08 Annascaul/Lispole 3-21. Next up: home to Ardfert on Tuesday August 11th at 6:45pm.
Minor Boys: The County Championship begins on Thursday August 13th against East Kerry. Come on The Rock!
U17 Boys: A brave display against Keel in the County League Division 8 semi-final. Came back from eight points down at half time to level before Keel’s goalkeeper produced three crucial saves to deny a famous comeback. Final score: St Pats/Castlegregory 1-15, Keel 6-10.
U12 Boys: Both teams produced excellent performances away to Laune Rangers in their latest Go Games fixtures, with the younger group in particular putting in one of their best displays of the season. U13 Boys: Austin Stacks take part in the Bon Secours Rose of Tralee U13 Cup on
40
Saturday August 15th at Ballyrickard, with games beginning at 10:30am.
Friday 14th August 2026
U12 Girls: Away to Kerins O’Rahillys next Monday evening. Keep an eye on socials for details. U10 Girls: Next Go Games on Thursday August 6th at 6:30pm in Ballybunion. U11 Boys: A superb day at the Munster Blitz in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, winning all three games against Waterford, Tipperary and Cork. Excellent football throughout. TRALEE PARNELLS HURLING AND CAMOGIE CLUB All-Ireland Poc Fada: Congratulations to senior player Diarmuid Quirke who represented Kerry in the M. Donnelly GAA Poc Fada All-Ireland Final in the Cooley Peninsula on Bank Holiday Monday. A fantastic honour for Diarmuid, his family, the club and Kerry hurling. Kerry U14 Camogie: Well done to club players Katyanna O’Connor and Caoimhe Field who represented Kerry at the National Development Blitz in Abbotstown. A special highlight was parading around Croke Park at half time of the All-Ireland Intermediate Final — an unforgettable experience. Minor Camogie: A comprehensive opening County League win over Cillard in the ARC. A brilliant display of skill across the whole team. Thanks to jersey sponsor Acorn Landscaping. Kerry U15 Camogie: Well done to club player Kaela Reidy who represented Kerry at the U15 Development Blitz. U10 Hurlers: A great evening against Abbeydorney showing excellent skill and determination. Well done to all players, coaches and parents.
U8 County Blitz: A brilliant morning for the U8 county Go Games Blitz with a fantastic turnout and great hurling skills on display. Munster Rugby: Huge congratulations to Clodagh Culloty who represented the Munster Rugby U17 Girls at the Interprovincial Blitz, scoring a try on the day as Munster won three from four games. Senior Camogie: The senior camogie team is recruiting new players of all levels. Contact 085 1355566 for more information. KERRY FC - SSE AIRTRICITY MEN’S FIRST DIVISION A heartbreaking 3-1 defeat away to Cork City at Turners Cross on Friday night, with the final scoreline not reflecting what was a hugely competitive display from Kerry FC. Cian Bargary struck a superb long-range effort into the top corner in the 33rd minute to put Kerry ahead and they led for more than 75 minutes of the contest. Matthew Connor made a crucial double save in the first half to preserve the lead. Cork finally equalised in the 77th minute before two late stoppage-time goals from Sean Maguire and Darragh Crowley turned the game on its head in cruel fashion. Despite extending their home unbeaten run to ten games with a 3-0 win over Cobh Ramblers on Bank Holiday Monday, this result leaves Kerry frustrated after a performance that deserved far more. Next up: an FAI Cup Third Round tie away to Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds next Saturday.
U13s: Participate in the U13 Rose of Tralee Cup at Ballyrickard on Saturday August 15th at 10:30am, with finals at Na Gaeil at 2:45pm.
