& welcome back to 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!) This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world of social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips

Oh, by the way I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!

Social media is scary, especially when you're not too familiar with it, and espe are the first generation to grow up with social media 100% in their lives so naturally t use it & 2) benefit from knowing how to use it (as a lot more careers are going to revo d )

Social media is not going anywhere, so rather than trying to restrict your children from it, why not learn about what they're using and talk to them about it. The platforms, the child protection, what is appropriate and what is not. Because realistically it's 2021, if you restrict or forbid it, they're just going to use it anyway but you won't have a clue what they're doing.
So YouTube Studies show that when you ask children what they wanna be when they grow up, a high percentage of them will say 'A YouTuber!'. I can guarantee a lot of parents might have been asked for a camera or iPhone to make YouTube videos for Christmas. So, should you allow your child on YouTube?
Now first things first, unlike Instagram or TikTok, YouTube is a lot more technical. Videos have to be filmed and put together (edited) before uploading to the plaform and selecting specific options So it is definitely more of a commitment and your child may even have to teach themselves how to edit (BIG PLUS AS THEY WILL BE TEACHING THEMSELVES A SKILL!) Or, your child may want to do it but not know how to edit or do any of those things, which is where some parents may hire someone to do it, think of it like investing in a hobby. Obviously the second option isn't cheap, but if your child really wants to do it and enjoys it... I personally think it is a great option (and not only because I offer YouTube video editing services)
Why do I think YouTube is the best social media platform for Children?
Firstly, when your child is filming their YouTube videos they're not actually on social media or any apps, they are recording themselves with either a camera or iPhone, this means that as opposed to TikTok or Instagram, your child is talking to a camera, filming her day, room tour, vlogging etc
Secondly, YouTube has the best protection filters for children. Videos can be marked 'for kids' which means they will be recommended alongside other kids videos and content, and not be recommended to anyone over the age of 18 On videos marked for kids there is no comment section so that online bullying via the comments section won't happen
All in all, YouTube out of all social media platforms has the most protection for children and is, in my opinion, the best platform for a child to be using or posting on It's natural as a parent to be apprehensive but not only can being on YouTube be like a hobby for a child, it can also help their confidence.
If you are interested in your child creating a YouTube channel and becoming a YouTuber, you can email me at createtralee@gmail.com to chat more about it or enquire about my YouTube package.

For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: createtralee@gmail.com to book a call!

Hello Tommy. I have a home in Caherslee which was empty for a few months following a recent tenancy coming to an end. (The tenants were colleagues of mine and moved out when they purchased a home) I was then contacted by the former tenants friends who wanted to rent the home. I felt obliged to rent to them and opted to do so without much thought.
me to continue renting as a result. Am I able to end this tenancy? I am unsure to be honest whether I want to be a landlord going forward or not or whether to sell the property but I just want time to think about all and certainly do not have time for chasing rent while overseas.
Regards Patricia

There are exceptions to this rule but unless you will be returning to the home or need it for family member use, are prepared to sell the home, apply for change of use, looking to substabtially change or improve the home, or the home is no longer suitable for their needs, which is highly unlikely given they moved in recently enough, there is very little you can do.

They are now in the home 4 months on the same terms and rent as the former lease _ ie I did not increase the rent. The two issues I have are 1) no rent payment to date has been paid on the due date and is being paid in several installments instead of one. 2) I have since moved overseas and therefore am subject to a 20% penalty for residing overseas. It is not viable for
Hi Patricia. We appreciate the contact. Lets get straight to your options. (A) If you have a fixed term lease in place you will have to honour the term of the lease. Also note that if the tenants are signed up to say a 12 month lease, the minute (literally) that this lease goes past 6 months they will have rights to stay in the home for up to 6 years providing the terms of the lease are met by them.
(B) If the tenants have moved in on a Part 4 / rolling lease you can give them 28 days to vacate. You do not have to give a specific reason. This needs to be done prior to 6 months lapping.
Therefore, the next step is simple...check if your lease is a fixed term lease or Part 4. This determines everything really.
We can take a call on this at a time that suits you if required. Legislation is changing constantly at present in nearly all aspects of tenancy law so I would advise keeping up to speed while you figure things out.
Speak soon, hopefully.

December is finally here! Time to decide who’s on your naughty list and who’s been extra nice. While you’re browsing around town, sipping a hot chocolate, doing your bits and pieces of Christmas shopping, don’t forget to check out the gorgeously glowing shop window displays that really add to the festive atmosphere in Tralee. The Tralee Chamber Alliance launched its annual Christmas Window Display Competition last month. This year, we are asking every business to really go for it! Think about the season that's in it, the Winter Solstice, the spirit of Christmas. Show us what Christmas means to you. Mince pies by the fire? Meeting up with friends? The bumper edition of the RTE Guide? Maybe the arrivals lounge at Kerry Airport. We’re encouraging business to get creative. Tell your Christmas story your way. Maybe your business likes all things traditional, or perhaps you believe in sustainability and insist on everything being natural and organic, which we absolutely support. Whether you love massive, shiny
baubles, nativity scenes or modern minimalism, The Tralee Chamber Alliance encourages all businesses to get involved and spread the joy and cheer of Christmas this year.
There are 3 Categories: Public Choice Award, Town Pride Award, and Retail Team Award and there is still time to get your entry in. No matter how big or small your display, take a picture and simply email your image to Business@tralee.ie With the following details: Business Name & Address. It’s as easy as that.
Last year’s winners of the Public Choice Award was Down Syndrome Kerry, the Town Pride Award went to Ballygarry House Hotel and the Retail Team Award went Connolly’s Jewellers. The competition is being run in association with AIB and the winners will receive advertising packages from our local media partners, Tralee Today, Connect Kerry at the Tralee Advertiser. So go on. Now is your time to shine!

Although it looks like we possibly won’t be doing much Christmas and New Years socialising (restrictions dependent!), that may mean that home measures will leave many feeling the effects the next morning! It’s lovely to let your hair down and relax with a couple of cans or glasses of bubbly, but it’s also nice to be able to jump out of the bed early and make the most of time with family & friends.
We all have our own little tricks to keep the head clear the morning after the night before, but here are some tried & tested tips we have compiled in the pharmacy:
• Drink less! It’s not what any of us want to hear, but it’s the one thing guaranteed to save us. It takes the liver one hour to metabolise a unit of alcohol, meaning your first drink hasn’t hit you even when you have finished your second! Pace yourself, alternate with non-alcoholic drinks, and enjoy the buzz slowly.

• Hydrate! Ideally every second drink should be non-alcoholic, or remember to drink pints of water dotted throughout the evening. A top tip is to take a rehydration sachet (such as Oxylent, an excellent combination of vitamins and electrolytes) last thing before heading to bed.
• Two paracetamol taken before bed, and sleep on your left side (to aid with paracetamol absorption via the duodenum) works wonders to stave off the next morning headache. If it still appears, a decongestant with paracetamol such as Sinutab greatly helps to relieve pressure in the head (for those who are safe to take decongestants)
• If all else fails, Mike swears by a cure in the form of a pint bottle with lots of ice!

Q: From constant hand sanitiser, I am noticing my hands more. They just look old and don’t start me on the age spots . Any tips?
Miriam

Mary replies...

We are noticing our hands more out of necessity but help is at hand! As we age our hands lose fat and elasticity and skin loses volume . This reduced volume and decreased elasticity produces translucent skin that wrinkles and develops age spots. We have two treatments in the CHRC to help hands look more youthful. First is diamond polar which helps with skin tightening .This combines radio frequency and pulsed electro magnetic elds. A course is recommended but results can be see after one. The treatment are cumulative and after your last treatment the skin will continue to improve for up to 3 to four months. Maintenance is required as we continue to age.Every season a top up is required or up to the individual requirements.
For the age spots - Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a very successful treatment . A course is recommended and at rst the pigment will go darker before it starts to fade. This treatment is very e ective but SPF is recommended to be stop new pigment forming or activating the old treated pigment. Alumier do an award winning SPF that is recommended for daily use after treatment and to continue daily . Younger looking hands are now available at your ngertips by contacting CHRC.

In the past few years, mesh Wi-Fi networks have revolutionized home networking. Instead of a large router that you would normally hide in a closet, mesh systems use smaller components, usually called routers or access points The majority of Wi-Fi mesh systems come in a pack of e two or three components, with one device acting as the main router that connects directly to your modem and one or two satellite modules, or nodes, scattered around the house. You should check the coverage specs before you buy, and keep in mind that all homes are di erent. Walls, doorways, and ooring will a ect wireless signal transmissions. Almost all mesh systems are expandable, so if you nd that your system doesn't quite reach certain areas in your home, don't worry: You can easily add another node after the initial installation.

The most obvious causes of headaches are dehydration, stress and poor quality sleep. Common sense steps such as drinking more water and getting enough sleep can help prevent this becoming a common problem.

For some people migraine can be a bigger problem. The most common symptoms of migraine include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, noise and smells, and a severe, throbbing (usually) one sided headache. A combination of factors such as stress, specific foods and alcohol, hormonal changes, excess or lack of sleep, weather factors, change in routine, poor posture or excessive use of blue light screens may all act as triggers.

If you are prone to headaches or migraine some of the natural remedies you will find in your local healthstore include:
MAGNESIUM, B-COMPLEX (especially B2 or riboflavin), COQ10, VALERIAN, ESSENTIAL OILS specifically BASIL OIL or LAVENDER oil.
You should never self diagnose any of these symptoms and always consult your GP.
As always we are available to discuss these and other remedies and recommend one to suit your specific needs best, just call in to your nearest store.
Until next time, stay hwealthy

WOULD YOU LIKE A GLASS OF PUNCH? ...WHY CERTAINLY!
Now its certainly the time of year to do things a little different and no excuses now especially with the year we have all gone through ! And a big bowl of Punch to welcome guests family and friends over the festive season is a sure fire hit!
Inspired by old-school 7-UP sherbet punch, this grown-up version is spiked with piney gin, tart lemon sorbet, and a generous splash of fizzy Champagne. This punch is only as good as the Champagne you use, so splurge for the good stuff...there are some great offers out there at the moment!
• 3 part lemon sorbet, divided
• 2 lemons (about 9 ounces), cut into 1/8-inch-thick rounds, seeds removed
• 2 limes (about 7 ounces), cut into 1/8-inch-thick rounds, seeds removed
• 16 ounces Dry gin
• 2 (750-millilitre) bottle chilled Champagne (such as Aubry)
• Whole red maraschino cherries

Let 2 pints sorbet stand at room temperature until soft enough to be easily scooped, about 10 minutes. Arrange lemon and lime slices around sides of a small metal tube or Bundt pan or freezer-safe bowl. Scoop softened sorbet into pan, packing citrus slices against sides; smooth top. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze until firm, about 5 hours
When ready to serve punch, pour gin into a large chilled punch bowl, and add remaining 1 pint sorbet. Mash sorbet with a spoon to incorporate with gin; add frozen citrus ring to bowl. Gently pour Champagne around inside of bowl; stir gently to combine with gin mixture. Garnish with maraschino cherries. Place ladle in bowl, and allow guests to serve themselves.

In the face of accelerating EV sales and activity, Peugeot here is bringing their partnership with Affinity EV to the brand’s dealer network.
The software will facilitate purchase of an approved home charger, installation by an approved engineer, analysis of the customer’s home, switch of energy provider (if required) and application for the SEAI home charger grant.
Peugeot say the facility reflects the need to deal with the major changes afoot. o 15 passengers) has a range of up to 300kms. Due on the market in 2022.
The inexorable increase in fuel prices must have electric-vehicle (EV) drivers feeling at least partially vindicated – and no doubt prompting others to think about following suit and buying.
Of course no one escapes the rising tide of price increases, so charging your EV will cost more. But EV owners are still going to be so much better off from a running-costs perspective, I think.
Bad news travels fast, and with petrol and diesel making the headlines due to record levels being reached, there is bound to be an intensified focus on switching to EVs from Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs). Did we ever think we’d see the day petrol would cost 174c/litre (Irish Independent survey)? New AA figures put diesel at 163.3c/litre. A year ago that stood at 117.3c/litre, according to their statistics. And where does it stop?
No wonder the car manufacturers are lining up so many new EVs. Virtually every one of them is planning on bringing in new models – part of the problem is getting enough stock. Take Mercedes: They are fairly ramping up the electric stakes in their own ranks with several new EVs planned for next year. Some weeks back I wondered if they had caught the plug-in bug too late, given that incentives are being stripped away.
That can’t be said about their current and impending electric vehicles. They have just outlined details of what and when is coming.Their electric EQS luxury saloon is due by the first quarter of 2022. They claim it has more than 40 new inventions and 20 new design applications. We will also see the EQB, a car that slots in size above the entry-level EQA and below the larger mid-range EQC. And then in the second quarter they anticipate the arrival of the EQE electric saloon which is heavily based on the current E-Class. Expect hothouse power versions of the EQE later in the year, with MercedesAMG EQE 43 and Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 models arriving. They should fairly rock up on the power stakes.
And yet . . . despite the surge in fuel prices there are still a lot of petrols and diesels due; either current models, updates or new. So it’s not all going to be electric. Far from it. Yet. There are expansions planned for what Mercedes adroitly call the “conventionally powered” product range too. And an early arrival will be the new AMG SL, a car described as something of an icon. Following later in the year will be a high-performance AMG GT 4-door Coupé. (Motoring Indo)
the brand new KIA Niro is to be unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show later this week.
And what have they done only gone and issued a teaser to whet our appetites. The first glimpse tells a little more than normal with this sort of thing by showing the extensive influence of the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ (not a bad name for Manchester United at the moment is it?) design philosophy.
They say the new two-tone exterior extends the design elements first shown on the HabaNiro Concept in 2019.
KIA say the Niro has been an integral part of its expanding eco-friendly line up. The car will be unveiled this week

THE BIG DAY DAWNS ON A BIG WEEK FOR THE TOWN:
Firstly before we get onto sport I want to well done to all those who have Tralee looking so we as The Most Wonderful Time of the Year begins (yes I do love Christmas!). It was great to see the lights turned on at the weekend. Many of those involved in the decoration of the towns and the shops are the same people who run and volunteer in the town’s sports club.
Let’s home everyone one a wonderful time over the next few weeks and that we all support our local businesses. Back to this Sunday and the big day for Austin Stacks and Kerins O’Rahillys. The flags and bunting in Black and Amber and Blue and White certainly add to the atmosphere.
Austin Stacks were favourites but after those game and speaking to those who are much more knowable than me this looks to be too close to call and indeed a number have said that this could go down to a second day. All will be revealed on Sunday.
Supporters of both clubs need to check out details of where to get tickets ahead of Sunday with details on kerrygaa.ie

SWIMMERS COME GOOD:
Well done to all those involved in the Across The Bay Challenge that raised over e2020 for the Fenit RNLI directly from the swim. However when the proceeds from the collection and the sale of tee-shirts are included the total was over e4500. Other swimmers raised over e4000 for their charities.

Of course while it is a huge day for the squad, management and Committee it is bigger than that. Firstly it will be a great day for the supporters of both clubs. Its days like this that make all the wet and cold – and losing - days supporting your club worthwhile. Of course it will also be a poignant day for some involved with both clubs as they remember those who would love to there but have passed on. Every club has lost members, some much too soon, and these will all be remembered on Sunday. I am sure that in the run up to the big game there will be many stories told of past glories where the supporters of the Stacks and Rahillys meet.
For the players and management by the time this comes out they will have all the work done and it will be a waiting game. They will have their match day schedule work out and it will be about rest and focusing and trying to keep a handle on the nerves which will of course disappear once the ball is thrown in. We wish both sides every success and as they say leave it all out on the field. As a tribute to the players I found a poem by Sarah Crotty on-line that sums up exactly what the day is about for them. It is called The Fight of Our Lives: “The big day has finally come, My heart is beating like a drum, the crowd has come from both far and near, To support the team and give a cheer. I pull up my socks and tighten my laces, Then head onto the pitch where we all take our places, There’s not a cloud in sight, As we prepare for the fight. Hours of training, blood, sweat and tears, The time has come to face our fears, The blue and white / black and amber flags fly with pride, our opponents have no place to hide. Friends and family have all come along, the ball is in and the game is on”. So now the usual question that’s asked – call it!! Being honest I am not able to. Going into the semi-finals I though
