Two of Tralee’s best-known financial advisory businesses have joined forces in a landmark deal that will see Reen Financial Services manage more than €150 million in client assets, creating one of the largest locally-owned financial advisory firms in Kerry.
The acquisition of Eoin Liston Financial Services Ltd. was completed earlier this year and brings together two highly respected names in the county’s financial sector.
Founded in 1979 as Murphy & Sheehy Insurances, the business evolved under Managing Director John Reen, who acquired the company in 2019 before rebranding it as Reen Financial Services. Today, the firm provides pensions, investments, retirement planning, savings, succession planning and business protection, alongside a full range of commercial and personal insurance services through its sister

The acquisition sees Kerry football legend Eoin “Bomber” Liston remain with the business as Director, while Conor Liston also continues with the company, ensuring continuity for existing clients.
Speaking about the move, John Reen said the merger was built around shared values.
“Kerry is home, and everything we build here, we build with that in mind. Eoin has earned the trust of clients over many years and together we are creating something genuinely significant for Kerry – a locallyowned firm with the expertise and scale to compete with anyone while maintaining the personal relationships our clients value.”
One of the greatest footballers in Kerry history, Liston won seven AllIreland senior medals and became a household name after scoring a famous hat-trick in the 1978 AllIreland final against Dublin. He said the decision to join Reen Financial Services was driven by

trust and continuity.
“The values are right, the team is right and the ambition is right. I’m staying on, Conor is staying on, and the clients I’ve worked with for years will continue to deal with the same familiar faces, backed by a stronger Tralee-based team.”
The combined company now employs ten financial and insurance professionals and plans to continue expanding through organic growth and strategic acquisitions across Kerry and Munster.

A new €4.5 million diagnostic imaging centre has officially opened at Manor West in Tralee, marking a major investment in healthcare services for Kerry.
The new outpatient facility, operated by Alliance Medical, was officially opened by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality and Kerry TD Norma Foley. The centre also marks more than 20 years of Alliance Medical providing diagnostic imaging services in the county.
The purpose-built centre offers MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound and DEXA scanning under one roof, helping patients access high-quality diagnostic services closer to home while reducing the need to travel. Welcoming the investment, Minister Foley said the new facility would significantly enhance healthcare provision across Kerry.
“This represents an important enhancement of healthcare services for the people of Tralee and Kerry, providing greater access to high-quality diagnostic imaging in a modern, patient-centred environment,” she said. “Facilities like
this support earlier diagnosis, better outcomes and stronger healthcare delivery in our communities.”
Alliance Medical said the centre is staffed by experienced radiographers and supported by Ireland-based, RCSI-accredited consultant radiologists, ensuring high clinical standards and timely reporting for patients and referring doctors.
The company also highlighted its continued support for Kerry’s sporting community. As the exclusive imaging partner of Kerry GAA for 2026, Alliance Medical provides specialist musculoskeletal imaging for athletes, helping with the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries.
Eimear O’Donnell, Human Resources Director with Alliance Medical, said the opening represented an important milestone for the company in Kerry.
“For more than 20 years, Alliance Medical has proudly served patients across Kerry. This new centre is an investment in the future of healthcare in the county and

“It’s time for the turtle update you’ve all been waiting for Molly, everyone’s favourite loggerhead, is still at and she’s

settled into the facility brilliantly. The team there are confident in her assessment for release, and she’s now in a rewilding process. During this, she’ll build on the skills needed for life in open water, like foraging, diving, and reducing contact with humans. Once she’s ready, our big girl (about 120kg!) will be fitted with a satellite tag and released, just like Frankie.
Frankie, the smaller turtle who travelled to Portugal alongside Molly, was released on June 11th in Portuguese coastal waters. Her satellite tag has been telling a great story ever since! She’s covered serious ground, tracking along the coast and reaching as far north as nearly 40°N. Healthy, active, and

She went down to the door in her towel. She opened it to our neighbour, Bob. Bob looks at her, and quickly says, “Look this might be weird but ill give you €800 if you drop the towel right now. She proceeds to drop the towel, exposing herself to Bob. Bob hands here the 800 euros and walks away.
My wife comes upstairs. I asked her, Hey, who was at the door? “Oh, just our neighbor Bob.” She says. I say, “Oh damn, where’d he go? Does he have the €800 he owes me?”
A woman gets into a very busy restaurant around lunch time. She is told the next available table would be free in an hour. She holds her phone to her ear, and with a loud voice says: “Honey, you won’t believe it, but your husband is having lunch with his girlfriend at so-and-so restaurant” Half the diners instantly get up and rush to the exit..
A man walks into a store looking for a toilet brush. The store owner shows him a variety of brushes at various pricepoints. The man thinks for a little while, then buys the cheapest one.
The next day the man is back at the store. “Were you unhappy with your purchase?” asks the shopkeeper. “We have other models that might work better.”
The man agrees and buys a little more expensive one.
The next day the man is back yet again. The shopkeeper, visually puzzled on how a toilet brush can be such a big deal, asks “What’s the matter, didn’t like the new one either?”
“Well” replies the man. “To be honest it was pretty effective. But I gotta say, I prefer toilet paper!”
3 men are stranded on an island and they find a genie bottle. They decide that each person gets one wish. The first man says “I wish I was back home.” then disappeared. The second man says “I wish I was off this island!” and he was gone. The third man say “I wish my friends were back.”
As I stewed in traffic wondering what was causing it, a guy comes up and knocks on my window. “What’s it all about?” I ask. “You haven’t heard? President Trump has been kidnapped. It’s all over the news! The ransom note says we either deliver a billion dollars or they are going to cover him with gas and burn him alive. I’m out here taking up a collection to help.” “Oh, God.” I said. “Of course I’m willing to help. Anything. How much have you got so far?” “About six gallons.” He said.
When the stranger turned to the Little Johnny and said, “Let’s talk. I’ve heard that flights will go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.”
Little Johnny, who had just opened his book, closed it slowly, and said to the stranger, “What would you like to discuss?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” said the stranger. “How about nuclear power?”
“OK,” said Little Johnny. “That could be an interesting topic, but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat grass. The same stuff. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?”
“What? I have no idea” said the stranger.
“Well, then,” said Little Johnny, “How is it that you feel qualified to discuss nuclear power when you don’t know squat?”

I've been feeling increasingly anxious over the past few months. I often experience racing thoughts, poor sleep and tension, even when there's no obvious reason for it. I try to eat well, but I wonder if my diet could be influencing how I feel. Could plant-based nutrition and herbal medicine help?

I’ve had ongoing neck, shoulder, or back pain. Could trigger point therapy help?
Discover the Benefits of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy This August

Plant-based nutrition and herbal medicine can play an important role in supporting emotional wellbeing, with growing research highlighting the connection between diet, lifestyle and mental health. A balanced diet centred on whole plant foods, including vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds, provides essential nutrients and phytochemicals that support healthy brain function, neurotransmitter production and the gut-brain axis. Particular nutrients, including magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins and vitamin D, have all been associated with healthy nervous system function, especially where de ciencies exist. Western herbal medicine has a long tradition of supporting emotional health and is increasingly recognised within evidence-informed integrative healthcare. It encompasses hundreds of medicinal plants, each with unique phytochemical constituents and therapeutic actions. Ongoing research continues to explore how these botanicals can support a healthy stress response, nervous system function, restorative sleep and emotional resilience. Together, plant-based nutrition and herbal medicine o er complementary, natural approaches that can support overall wellbeing as part of a personalised health plan. Do you suffer from persistent muscle pain, tension, headaches, or stiffness that just won’t go away?

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is a highly effective hands-on treatment that targets tight, sensitive knots within muscles, known as trigger points, which can cause pain both locally and in other areas of the body.
By applying precise pressure and specialised techniques, trigger point therapy helps release muscle tension, improve circulation, restore movement, and reduce pain. Many people find relief from common conditions such as neck and shoulder tension, lower back pain, sports injuries, tension headaches, and discomfort caused by poor posture or repetitive strain.
Whether you’re active in sport, spend long hours at a desk, or simply want to move more comfortably, this treatment can help improve flexibility, reduce muscle tightness, and support your overall wellbeing.
This August, we’re delighted to offer a special promotion on Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, making it the perfect opportunity to experience the benefits for yourself.
If you’re in Tralee or anywhere in County Kerry and have been living with ongoing aches and pains, don’t wait for them to become chronic. Book your appointment this August and take the first step towards feeling looser, stronger, and more comfortable in your everyday life.
Your body will thank you.

Minister for Children, Disability, Equality and Kerry TD Norma Foley has welcomed payments totalling more than €937,000 to farmers and agricultural contractors across Kerry under the Fuel Income Support Scheme.
The scheme was introduced to help offset the sharp rise in fuel costs experienced during the spring and covers the five-month period from March to July 2026.
To date, 1,503 farmers and agricultural contractors in Kerry have received support through the scheme.
Welcoming the payments, Minister Foley said: “I welcome the payments being made to farmers and contractors in Kerry. This support will help to mitigate the impact of the recent sharp rises in fuel prices.” Payments are based on five months’ worth of marked gas oil usage in 2025, with eligible applicants receiving support of 20 cent per litre of verified green diesel consumption. The scheme is in addition to the existing 7.4 cent per litre reduction in excise duty on green diesel.

What first drew you to basketball and made you feel it was the right sport for you?
I played multiple sports when I was younger but for me basketball just clicked from a very young age.
Who inspired you when you were younger, and how did they influence your decision to play?
It’s difficult to say who inspired me when I was younger but I always had loads of role models in various of sports and many people that I looked up to, all who have supported me throughout my sporting career.
What part of basketball makes you feel most connected to the game— teamwork, competition, creativity, or something else?
Without a doubt teamwork, for me, was a priority and crucial for playing at all levels in this sport. I think that trust was a huge factor too as each player has to depend on one another.
What strengths or qualities do you have that made basketball feel like the right fit for you?
With any sport, perseverance, resilience and commitment were
just few of the many traits that are needed to stay involved in the game.
What motivates you to keep choosing basketball every day, even when training gets tough?
I enjoy playing team sports and the camaraderie that flowed through the basketball environment and community. The continuous support is something that you can never turn your back on.
How do your long term goals in basketball shape your commitment to the sport?
The refurbished Aqua Golf course at the Aqua Dome in Tralee has officially reopened following a €500,000 redevelopment, with Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley performing the official launch. The popular family attraction has undergone a major transformation, featuring redesigned holes, new carpet greens, improved landscaping, refreshed water features, upgraded pathways and steps, new galvanised safety railings and enhanced visitor facilities, while retaining the character that has made it a favourite with generations of visitors. Speaking at

Every family that visits also supports local hotels, restaurants, cafés, shops and other businesses, helping to strengthen the economy and encourage visitors to stay longer in Tralee and Kerry,” she said. Chairman of the Aqua Dome Board, Brian Durran, said the facility had become far more than a leisure attraction.
“The Aqua Dome is a place where families create memories, children
learn to swim and visitors experience Kerry hospitality. This investment ensures Aqua Golf will continue providing affordable outdoor fun for families, schools and holidaymakers for many years to come.”
As well as the complete redevelopment of the Aqua Golf course, the €500,000 project also included the refurbishment of public toilets in the reception area and changing village. The project was supported through LEADER funding, with works carried out by a number of local contractors alongside Aqua Dome staff. The upgraded attraction is already proving popular with

Kerry FC extended their incredible unbeaten home run to nine games with a 2-1 win over Finn Harps at Mounthawk Park on Friday night. Sean McGrath opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Cian Bargary doubled the lead in the 30th minute with a composed finish. Finn Harps pulled one back through Guilherme Rego Priosti
and came close to levelling when Bernardo Monteiro struck the post, but Kerry held firm throughout a tense second half. Matthew Connor was outstanding, producing a magnificent late save from Max Hutchinson to secure all three points. Kerry now sit just two points off the playoff places and travel to Bray Wanderers in the Carlisle Grounds next Friday.

Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this

Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. J. E.
