TREATING ACNE BY DR DAVID BUCKLEY Treatment of acne involves trying to reduce some of the excess oil and unblock the pores. We also tried to clear up the most obvious component of acne which is pimples and spots which are due to infection and inflammation. Most patients with acne will benefit from an acne wash. Most acne washes contain salicylic acid in various strengths from 0.5 up to 2%. The higher percentage washes are more effective for very oily skin but may be more irritating. Another effective treatment for mild acne where there is pimples and spots, is benzoyl peroxide. This comes as a cream or gel which should be applied all over the acne affected areas and not just simply onto the spots. It is also useful for acne on the back and chest. For more troublesome acne, particularly where there is a lot of blackheads and whiteheads, a topical vitamin A product such as adapalene gel (‘’Differin gel’’) can be very effective but this is only available on prescription from your doctor. This can be combined with benzoyl peroxide.

However, both of these products are quite drying and may be irritating so they should be applied all over the acne affected areas sparingly initially and the amount gradually built up over a few weeks. It can take three to six months to have a good effect with these topical agents and they can be used long term to prevent relapse. Some people with more troublesome acne may have to add in an acne tablet form the doctor such as an anti-bacterial agent with a strong anti-inflammatory effect which is good to reduce the pimples and spots. Acne tablets should always be used with good topical agents as mentioned above. Acne tablets are normally prescribed for three to six months at most. Some women might benefit from hormonal treatments such as high dose oestrogen pills combined with the topical agents I mentioned above. Very severe, resistant, scarring acne may need to be treated with a powerful acne tablet known as “Roaccutane” which is usually only prescribed by skin specialists. Wine review with Carry Out, Tralee & Ardfert

Belchapel Cabernet Syrah Belchapel Cabernet-Syrah Oaked is a wine from Languedoc Roussillon. It combines ripe fruit with the elegant structure of French wines. The nose is full of aromas of blackcurrants, berries with a delicate hint of violet and toasts. In the mouth fruity, soft, round, with an extremely long finish. It is perfect with Beef Carpaccio (or with any red meat), venison and cheeses.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE.. Cluster Gardai – A partnership with Tralee businesses Following on from the success of the See Something, Say Something programme from 2018, the business community of Tralee and the Gardai are fostering greater relations to ensure the town builds on it’s safe and welcoming experience for all visitors.Tralee Chamber Alliance, through its Cluster programme, is coordinating with the Tralee Gardai Station, to have 14 dedicated patrol Gardai assigned to the Town Centre and Manor West shopping districts of Tralee. These Gardai will be in daily contact with businesses in each of the seven Clusters (Districts) of Tralee. Commenting on the launch, Ken Tobin of Tralee Chamber Alliance said “Over the past 12 months we have seen considerable improvements in the town, and we are now looking forward to seeing how we can help propel Tralee to be the friendliest, safest, large town in Ireland” “In order to get us where we want to be as a town, we are aiming for a Zero-Tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour, business theft and crime. Now with this latest initiative not only will public eyes, through the See

Something Say Something campaign be on you, but you will have the entire business community working hand-inhand with the Gardai to stamp out theft and petty crime.” “ Having met most of the assigned Cluster Guards already, I can say they are genuinely nice people who have a passion for Tralee. They’ll be with us for the next few years and I’m asking the business owners of Tralee to make an effort to get to know them personally.”Over the coming weeks the programme will be rolling out through the

Chamber to all businesses within the town centre, with daily foot and bicycle patrols starting straight away in town.Sergeant Tim O’Keeffe outlined that “Two Gardai will be directly assigned to each cluster in Tralee to directly liaise with the business owners and will have daily foot and bike patrols. The programme will also see the business owners hold quarterly meetings through the Chamber with their assigned Garda aimed at stamping out theft from shops and other crimes in a preventative

manner.” “This new programme will primarily be in operation from 12pm to 8pm daily, but we are already working with the Chamber on developing some new programmes focused on the night-time activity in Tralee. We are working with Tralee Chamber Alliance as we share their ambitions for Tralee. The ongoing success of the See Something campaign highlights the opportunities that exist to support a better community in Tralee”

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE.. Spa Kids will rise to Donals Challenge! There was a real buzz of excitement and anticipation at Spa N.S. this week as the 2018 ‘Donal Walsh Spa 6K Challenge’ was launched. This will be the sixth year of the event and the whole school community is busy organising an amazing family fun day in honour of Donal, their past pupil on Sunday May 19th. “We want to yet again honour Donal in a special way and so the committee is working to create an event where people of all ages and fitness levels can come together for a few hours, have fun and ‘live life’ just as Donal urged us all to.” said school principal Peter Linehan. “Huge credit must go to our committee who have been working tirelessly over the past few weeks to ensure that everything will be ready”, added Peter. The school will certainly be a

hive of activity with a fabulous farmers market in operation and children from 5th and 6th classes coordinating fun games and challenges for young and old all day. The Parents Association is organising a beautiful barbeque on site. Teas and tasty treats will be served on the day. There will be a water rocket display and the ‘Amazing Guido’ well known street entertainer, will host his lively show to entertain everyone. However, the main event of the day will be the ‘Spa 6K Challenge’ a 6km looped run/ walk starting and finishing at the school. Donal’s mum and dad, Elma & Fionbarr Walsh will yet again officially start the run/walk at 11.30 a.m. “It means so much to us to see Donal’s primary school organising this very unique

day in his memory and we are delighted to support them in it.” said Elma. Everyone is welcome to come along, join the party and register from 10.00a.m. on the morning, but they can also pre register (for reduced entry

fees) at the school. Please call 066 7136618, e mail info@spanationalschool.ie for full details or check it out on facebook @ the Donal Walsh Spa Challenge!

ELECTION 24TH OF MAY

The More you tell the more you sell!!!

Get your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read

A little bit about you... Local election candidate Ted Cronin Chris Shortt recently caught up with Ted and asked him to tell the people of Tralee a little about himself “I’m originally from Rathmore but have been in college/ working and living in Tralee since 1982. I met my Wife to be Mary Horan in 1988. Mary was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1991. I have done alot of volunteering and community work in Tralee. I’m a member of Tralee Multiple sclerosis society and was chairperson on a number of occasions. I was in the Kerry Samaritans based in Tralee for a few years. I was outreach coordinator where we visited many schools. I have also fundraised for the wheelchair

association, Pieta House, animal rescue etc. I have worked in Loss Prevention in Tralee for 25 years. I have seen alot of anti social behaviour, addiction, people not able afford food, suicidal people, homeless. The 2019 Local Election is especially important for the people of Tralee. For the next 5 years this is the only opportunity Tralee residents will have to have their concerns considered and their voices heard. Blighted by unemployment and emigration Tralee now is the forgotten town in Kerry. Ignored by Kerry County Council and State agencies it us clear that the once vibrant town of Tralee is slowly dying.

I care passionately about Tralee and its people and when elected I will devote myself full time to: 1. Rejuvenating Tralee Town Centre by imposing a 5 year moratorium on parking charges. 2. Developing the Denny site to benefit the people of Tralee. 3. Bring creative industry to our vacant factories and buildings. 4. More community involvement. Public meeting every quarter. 5. Litter wardens/street cleaners/town park warden. 6. Improve wheelchair facilities/parking/town bus

wheelchair friendly. I plan to be a new voice for Tralee and Kerry. , a man with Integrity. No false promises. Please give your number one to Ted Cronin on May 24th. If you would like to join others who care about Tralee on my campaign and be part of the team then find me on Facebook and join the challenge - your journey will be rewarding. KCFE officially opened on Denny St by Minister McHugh THE Kerry College of Further Education (KCFE) Denny Street Campus was officially opened on Thursday by the Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh TD, with hundreds of guests, staff and students in attendance.

The official opening firmly embeds KCFE into Tralee Town Centre where students have already breathed life into the street and town centre. From the College’s perspective, the introduction of a second campus was necessary as student numbers were substantially increasing. This new location means Kerry College of Further Education (KCFE) is in a position to offer as many students as possible the opportunity to remain in

Kerry to study a programme of their choice.

The Campus encompasses 5, 6, 7 and 8 Denny Street and the refurbishment of the existing buildings. The Campus has 11 lecture rooms; including two high spec computer rooms; 4 dedicated medical stations; offices; a canteen and more. Tremendous effort went in to maintaining the authenticity of the buildings, built in Georgian times, and the wonderful workmanship remains evident throughout. The new building is currently dedicated to the Health and Social Sciences Departments and will facilitate the delivery of the Nursing Studies, Nursing with Maternity Care

Skills, Carers, Youth Work, Applied Social Studies with Psychology, Emergency Care Services, Medicine Counter Pharmacy Assistant, Surgical Operative Care Assistant,

Advanced Social Care with Counselling Studies and Health Services Supervisory Management programmes.

HURRAY HURRAY IT’S THE MONTH OF MAY! The summer season has officially begun and with it has come bouncy castle and trampoline season. Without wanting to rain on the parade we must be aware that injuries can happen. Every year without fail I encounter a fairly embarrassed adult (last year 53 years old) with a vague report on how their bump or sprain occurred.... Notwithstanding the more serious injuries which require immediate medical attention what is the best course of action for sprain or strain first aid. The tried and tested remedy of RICE still remains the best first aid principle. Rest: is important to allow for healing. A person should avoid activities that stress the affected area. Gentle pain-free range of motion exercises are usually helpful. Ice: refers to cold treatments to treat acute injuries. Ice is recommended to minimise and reduce swelling as well as decrease pain. There are many ways to employ ice treatment at home. The most common is to place a bag of crushed ice or frozen peas over a paper towel on the affected area. I still smile when I think of the gentleman

who called to my office many years ago to ask me if he hadn’t peas if frozen sprouts would do the same :) It is important to protect the skin and limit exposure to 1015 minute sessions every 1 to 2 hours. Compression: This is the use of a compression wrap or elastic bandage to apply external force to the injured tissue. The compression minimises the swelling and provides mild support. Elevation: is recommended to help reduce pooling of fluid in the injured extremity or joint. Elevation is accomplished by positioning the injured area above the heart. For many bumps and sprains ice can be secured over the affected area with an elastic bandage and the limb can be elevated achieving simultaneous rest, ice, compression and elevation. Always seek medical assessment if you are in doubt. “You don’t stop playing when you get old you get old when you stop playing”.

Beauty

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! I HOPE YOU’RE HAVING AN AMAZING WEEK! I’m currently in Phi Phi - two weeks until I’m home. I don’t know if you’re all aware. But as of May 23rd I will be residing in Tralee, for how long… I don’t know. But definitely for the near future. In saying that, I have officially reopened my appointment book & already have a few regulars booked in. If you have anything that you would like to get your makeup done for, the best way to book an appointment is through email, so I’ve created a new email account solely for booking requests rebeccashorttmakeup@gmail.com. I’ve

also opened my bridal calendar so if you are getting married and want to find the right Makeup Artist for your special day - you can email to book a trial. Anyway, onto this week’s topic THE MET GALA. The theme? CAMP. Definition? Deliberately exaggerated and theatrical in style. I’m not the biggest fashionista in the world, nor do I claim to be. But I do enjoy and appreciate personal style, vibes and looks. Anything can be

‘a look’ with the right attitude and confidence… in my opinion. The Met Gala is hosted the first Monday of May every year, and ALL attendees must be approved by Anna Wintour. Everyone who I have added to this page this week, in my opinion, slayed the theme with their look, vibe and personal style.

FITNESS!

HELLO STRONG PEOPLE! I hope you’re all having a fantastic week. This week I want to talk about something important. I know every week I talk about how it’s great to be fit and healthy with regards to your physical body... And it is, in a perfect world. But this week I’m going to focus on another aspect of your health that it’s important to take care of, your mental health and being happy in yourself. The next time you find yourself scrutinising something that you think is “wrong” with your body. Maybe focus on the person and soul inside your body, other than aesthetics. Being a size 6 or 16 doesn’t determine who you are as a person and how healthy you are. Like everyone, I’m not happy 24/7. I have struggled with body issues, image issues and everything in between. I have finished school only to come out of two separate college courses, because I wasn’t happy in either of them. It took a lot to get to where I am now. Stay positive, a positive mindset always helps.

When you are stuck in something in life that makes you that unhappy, be it a job, living situation, college course, or relationship, it is always best to take a step back and put you and your mental health first. Because if you don’t, trust me, nobody else is going to do it for you. Talk about it. It doesn’t matter to who, just let someone else know how you’re feeling. You never know they might have the perfect solution, or at least they might make you feel a bit better. Exercise, even if it’s just going for a walk. It helps clear your head and overall you’ll feel better. If you are upset about anything, don’t try hide it or play it down because of someone else’s opinions. It’s your life and if something is upsetting you, it’s ok to be upset. Once you know ways in which you can cheer yourself up again.

You can find me on Facebook ‘Bexblah Makeup’ or Instagram ‘Bexblah’. TRALEE ADVERTISER

It’s your life, make a conscious decision to be the happiest, most positive person you can be. Try not to sweat the small stuff! Life is too short to have a miserable time because you’re ‘being good’ or ‘watching your calories’. It’s all about balance, you can count calories and ‘be good’ on a night in!

For any of you out there feeling overwhelmed because you don’t know what to do with your life or you can’t pick a college course or you’re confused as to what to do by a situation, remember, no one has all the answers. Not even the most intelligent successful person you know. Everyone just takes it one day at a time. So don’t feel anxious or pressured into doing

anything if you feel it’s not for you.

TORQUING CARS! CAR ADVICE WITH HONEST JOHN – YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED SOOTABLE CASE FOR TREATMENT

My Volvo XC60 D4 manual will be 3 years old in March. On Tuesday it went to Volvo for service and for the fuel hose recall to be carried out, mileage 70,000. On Friday, 150 miles later, the engine fault light has come on. I’m awaiting a dealer call back but Internet forums suggest EGR. Can it be coincidence just after this work? And if it is the EGR can I expect Volvo to pay for it? MD, Stafford H.J. says ..Depends what fuel you have been using. If you have been using Super Diesel, that the engine is optimised for and calibrated for, then Volvo might be sympathetic. If you have been using ordinary diesel then the problem arose from using inferior fuel in an engine with extremely sophisticated injectors. The dealer should have known and warned you.

OUT IN ALL WEATHERS

I took your advice to fit Michelin Cross Climates to my wife’s SEAT Exeo ST with great results. This car was useless in the rain and snow, before fitting the MCCs. Yet I took it out in 3 inches of snow with no problems at all. My question is, can I fit MCCs to my Freelander 2 (2014 with 235/55/19 v) as they are not on Land Rover’s “recommended” list? If not, which all season tyre would you recommend? MJ, via email H.J. says ..Yes, you can get Michelin Cross Climate SUVs that size: 235/55 R19 105W XL. You’ll immediately notice an improvement in ride comfort and steering as well as the cold weather benefits. Manufacturer “recommended” lists are usually due to deals with tyre manufacturers.

BP CHARGEMASTER’S 150KW NETWORK TO ALLOW 30MIN ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING

The UK’s largest provider of chargepoints for electric vehicles, BP Chargemaster, has confirmed it will install a network of 400 superfast 150kW public chargepoints by 2021, with 100 being installed at 50 sites by the end of 2019. Tufan Erginbilgic, the chief executive of Downstream at BP, told BP Chargemaster’s Powering the Charge conference it would start rolling the chargers out from July, with work installing 400 units to be completed by 2021.Current rapid chargers typically replenish EV batteries at a rate of between 43kW and 50kW, while Tesla Superchargers charge at between 120 and 150 kW, depending on version. The rollout of a non-proprietary superfast EV charger network, and charging infrastructure in general, is a seen as a key requirement if the UK is to meet its climate change targets, and fulfil government promises that no new conventional petrol and diesel cars will be sold from 2040 onwards.BP Chargemaster’s announcement, coupled with Shell-Ionity’s plans to build a network of even faster 350kW chargers, is the latest sign the drive to electric power continues to gain momentum at a rate of knots. While charge times vary from EV to EV, and many of the current electric cars available are unable to accept charges at rates higher than 50kW, the latest models, such as the Audi e-tron can accept a 150kW charge, meaning around 30 minutes to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent (a typical ‘full’ charge) in around 30 minutes. Future EVs, such as the Porsche Taycan, promise to accept charges as fast as 350kW.

THE REVOLUTION STARTS NOW: VOLKSWAGEN OPENS ORDER BOOKS FOR THE ID.3

Volkswagen has confirmed the first model to be released as part of its new ID range of electric cars, and it’s called the ID.3.The Golf-sized hatchback is already available for preorder in the UK as the German brand takes a step closer to overhauling its model line-up with zero-emission cars. While the first-to-arrive launch edition models will have a price tag of around £40,000, the manufacturer states that the cheapest variant will cost less than €30,000 (£26,000).Ireland is yet to be confirmed .Three images of what the ID.3 will look like have been released, though with the car cloaked in a psychedelic camouflage to mask its body.First edition variants will have a range of 260 miles, based on the latest WLTP test, and come with 110kW fast charging as standard.A dedicated microsite was launched this week to take order for the new car, though only the first edition vehicles that will come at a fairly hefty premium.Deliveries aren’t expected to arrive until summer 2020, but customers can already get their name down for the earliest examples with a £750 deposit. Those who have put their money down will be contacted by Volkswagen in the coming weeks to confirm their intentions to buy one.Volkswagen has been forthcoming with what will be in store for customers, listing a raft of equipment that will see it hit equipment levels on par with the latest Golf. This includes satellite navigation with voice control as standard, LED matrix headlights and two-tone paint with a contrast roof colour. 28

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES!

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR UNSUNG VOLUNTEERS ALLOW US TO ENJOY A FANTASTIC FEW WEEKS OF SPORT: Having been involved, from a media point of view, in three big sporting events over the last few weeks it was wonderful to once again see the huge amount of people who were working as volunteers. Those events were the Rally of the Lakes, Ras Mumhan and Circuit of Kerry Rally. And there were lots of other events like the run by the Austin Stacks yesterday, the Park runs etc that all depended on volunteers. A stat from Ras Mumhan Race Director Tadgh Moriarty enforced the value of volunteers to me. He said that for each rider in the Ras 1 volunteer / race official was needed to keep the Ras on the road. Therefore the organisers needed and got up to 100 volunteers each day. From a Tralee point of view anyone who went to any of the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors home game will have seen how hard their volunteers worked at each game – the majority of which were sold out. Add to this those that are out at gates of clubs all over Kerry each week and I could go on and on. I have said before that we should celebrate our volunteers with some kind of end of season event. This is something we will return to again but if anyone has any idea please send them into us. But for now I just want to pay tribute to everyone who is reading this column and volunteers in any way in any sport. Thank you from the fans for ensuring our favourites sports can go one week after week. AT THE TRACK: This Friday night at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium it’s the second round heats of the Lee Strand 550 yards plus supporting 12 dog Lee Strand stakes. which starts on Friday May 24th and the KGOBA Novice 750 yards beginning on Saturday May 25th. All entries must go to the racing office on 061 448057. TRALEE DYNAMOS CHURCH GATE COLLECTION:

Tralee Dynamos are holding their Annual Church Gate Collection this weekend on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th. They are hoping that as many past and present members of the club will give a hand. Members wishing to help out are asked to be at the church gates 30 minutes before Mass begins. This is one of the main fundraisers for the club with the money going to help cover the maintenance costs of both Cahermoneen and the Low Field in Basin View. All contributions will be greatly appreciated. The club is also due to play one of its biggest games in a while when they take on neighbours St Brendan’s Park in an eagerly awaited Greyhound Bar Cup semifinal. The winners will face Killarney Celtic in the Kerry District Leagues blue ribbon Cup competition. LEAGUE OF IRELAND SIDES BACK IN ACTION: Kerry’s 13’s and 15’s League of Ireland sides are in action this weekend with both taking on Limerick. The 13’s had a very impressive 2-0 win over Athlone in their re-arranged game at Mounthawk Park and will take that confidence into their game which is on in Rathkeale at 2pm. At the same time the 15’s are in Mounthawk Park and the sit in an impressive second place on the League table just three behind leaders Cork City. In the previous round of matches Kerry won away at Galway with Limerick going down at home to Athlone. A win in this game would cement a top two place for the Kerry boys with three League games left. The Kerry 17’s make the trip to Dublin to take on Cabinteely FC while the 19’s were in action in mid-week when they took on Cobh Ramblers in the first round of the Enda McGuill Cup.

Friday 10th May 2019

TRALEE CREWS DO WELL IN RALLY OF THE LAKES: The 40th Anniversary Cartell.ie Rally of the Lakes drew huge crowds to the iconic stages. And the organisers and fans were delighted to see for the first time a Killarney man on the top step of the podium. 5 time World Rally Championship winning co-driver Paul Nagle has teamed up with Craig Breen, who also has WRC experience, this season and the duo have now won 5 of the 6 rallies they have competed in including the first four rounds of the Tarmac Rally Championship and a round of the Italian Rally Championship. After a great battle all weekend the duo had a cushion of 14.9 seconds in their Ford Fiesta R5 at the end of the 16 stages. From a Kerry Motor Club point of view Darren Young and Kenneth Quirke finished 14th in the National Rally championship and second in Class 11F in their Civic. Mike Dowling and Declan Casey were 28th in their Mark 1 Escort. Amongst the many impressive Kerry performances was that of Tommy Commane who took 7th in the Historic section alongside Philip McKibbin in the Ford Escort Mk1. KERRY FAMILIES WANTED FOR ‘IRELAND’S FITTEST FAMILIES’: The popular television show ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ is looking for participants to take part this year. Kerry families will battle those from around the country for a e15,000 prize fund and the overall title. This is the seventh season of the show where the coaches will once again be Davy Fitzgerald, Derval O’Rourke, Anna Geary and Donncha O’Callaghan. So far only two Kerry families have made the televised stages – the O’Mahonys who went out in the first round and the Pierce family who got the semi-finals last year. The series will be shot from July to September and any interested families should contact rte. ie/irelandsfittestfamily or call 015313933. FORMATS? I see from a number of the GAA Club notes that there will be an u17 9-a-side competition. I have to say it is interesting to see the GAA taking formats from other sports. Soccer has always had 9-a-side games as did rugby. Now the GAA will argue that no sport ‘owns’ and format and they are right. But it is obvious that this format is being used to try and keep players playing some form of Gaelic football – the June period is

a quiet one for the 17’s age group. But one must ask if organising a competition with a format that has no similarities to the full game the way to go? Is it a sign of the GAA being worried about players playing other sports and maybe not going back to football? And where does this format stand in the ‘player burn-out’ debate? NA GAEIL THE JUNIOR CHAMPIONS: I am sure the celebrations are still going on in Na Gaeil after they have been crowned Kerry Premier Junior Champions defeating St Senan’s. This was their first ever win at this level after a number of disappointments and they will now represent the county when the Provincial and All Ireland section of the competitions begins after the summer. The old saying of goals win games was certainly through and when Jack Barry hit the net on the stroke of half time Na Gaeil took a 6 point lead into the break. And while they didn’t hit the net again they tagged on a number of points to win comfortably 3-13 to 1-09. The Tom Keane Memorial Cup is now proudly in the club’s trophy cabinet and what was a very impressive all round display. Next up for Na Gaeil is their Round 3 Division 1 County League game away to Templenoe this Saturday at 7pm. In the rest of the club’s news plans are at an advanced stage for the Golf Classic which takes place on O’Mahony’s Point Killarney on Friday May 31st. The big one is the Toyota Yaris for a hole-in-one on the 18th green in conjunction with Kelliher’s Toyota Garage, Tralee. Teams cost e400 including a meal afterwards and tee box sponsorship is also available for e100. Coiste na nOg Quiz – a quiz to raised funds for Coiste na nOg will be held in the clubhouse on Friday May 17th starting at 8.30pm with teams of 4 costing e40. The club is hosting a Light Football men’s and Gaelic for Mothers programmes for those who want to enjoy the sport without competitive edge. The men train on Monday and Friday nights with the women training on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Lotto: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 9,10, 12 and 27 with the next jackpot being e2,800. ST PAT’S NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 1,2,7 and 16 with the next jackpot being e5,800 and the draw taking place in Skelper Quane’s bar. Those planning on taking part in the Dingle Way Challenge on June 2nd should have registered by now for the route they are planning to complete. In the Juvenile Academy the u6’s put in a great session with the players enjoying their little box games. In a tough week to decide

The cup and medals were presented by Kerry county player and O’Rahilly’s clubman, Gavin O Brien. Man of the match was Ben Hanafin and Player of

It was a great day and please God it will get bigger and better each year to help carry the memory and the positive message of a great young person in Donal Walsh. In the Juvenile Academy there was a great turn-out on Sunday will all ages training hard and showing some great developments skill wise. The u12 Boys proved to be too strong in their final County League Phase 1 game against Castleisland and Phase 2 will begin in a few weeks. The u14’s travelled to Dingle and the home side were the fastest out of the blocks leading 2-04 to 0-01 at the break. The team was missing a few regulars and Dingle took the win. They will train this week ahead of Sunday’s Town League final against John Mitches which is scheduled to throw-in at 3pm in Caherslee. However the boys can be happy in winning 3 of their 5 games in the top Division and qualifying for semi-final. In this they hosted Na Gaeil winning easily. They now have the Castleialand District A final and the Central Region finals to play before their County League which begins in June. The u15’s were in the Donal Walsh Tournament in Tralee and enjoyed their games while the u14’s wen t to Castlegregory knowing that a win would qualify them for the semi-final.
