Pre Mother’s Day Treat: Ladies Chat and Chill 2024

Mothers’ Day is one of the integral celebrations in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Inspiration House, Tralee.

Each year, the ladies of the church organise a variety of events leading up to the Mothers’ Day. These events are primarily held to celebrate mothers and all women in particular; to inspire, encourage and promote interaction among women thereby improving their mental wellbeing.

This year, the line-up of events started with an evening of fun and

good craic on Saturday, 2nd of March 2024 at the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee where ladies from all walks of life gathered for the “Ladies’ Chat & Chill” experience. The turnout was commendable as the evening began with a magnificent red carpet photoshoot, followed by sumptuous meals and engaging games. It was indeed an ambience of relaxation, joy and laughter which culminated into a vivacious night as the stylishly dressed ladies took to the dance floor to boogie down to some melodious tunes all the way. A great night it was! We eagerly

Jasmine... model for a day at Paris Fashion Week!

The lovely Jasmine Ryle , from Tralee, was taken by surprise last week in Paris when a chance encounter led her to take Centre stage at Paris Fashion Week . We´ll let her mother, Sally Ryle, tell the wonderful story .....¨ She had been out dining in a local restaurant with some friends when she was approached by designer Sergio Davila from Peru asking her what Agency she was with to which she replied ‘ None

! I’m a student) he then asked her would she like to walk the catwalk in his show 2 days later ! The next day was the fitting and she told him that she had a soccer match! ( to his surprise! Which he loved ) so the team awaited her and the following morning the event took place at the beautiful Bir Hakeim Bridge which crosses the Seine river in the 15th arrondissent. She had a wonderful day and made

lots of friends and contacts in the wonderful world of haute couture. Jasmine is currently in her second year studying Interior Architecture and also doing an internship with a French Architectural company in Paris but who knows what the future may bring ! In any case she is enjoying and embracing this new opportunity¨

St. Patrick’s Day Parade Will Be ‘A World Of Colour’ In Tralee

Prepare to be dazzled by an eclectic mix of community groups and an expanded parade route, all coming together to bring the theme of ‘A World of Colour/ An Domhan trí Dhathanna’ to life. Tralee Chamber in partnership with Kerry County Council this week unveiled the 2024 St Patrick’s Day parade theme.

Stephen Stack, President of Tralee Chamber said, “St. Patrick’s Day Parade Tralee has always been a vibrant celebration of our unique community spirit and cultural diversity. This year’s theme, ‘A World of Colour/ An Domhan trí Dhathanna’ encapsulates the essence of what makes our parade so special – the kaleidoscope of colours, cultures and joy that come together to create an unforgettable experience. We invite everyone to join us as we embrace the richness of our cultures and celebrate the unity that brings us together.”

The Mayor of Tralee, Cllr. Terry O’Brien, encouraged everyone to come out and enjoy the St Patrick’s Day Parade and the festivities in the town over the long weekend.

“Tralee’s parade is always a highlight in the calendar and is a great occasion for all ages. A great deal of voluntary work goes into planning the parade every year and this

year, it is no different. It promises to be a really special occasion and Tralee Municipal District is proud to support this wonderful community event.”

Dick & Eibhlin Henggeler, Owners of The Rose Hotel said “We are honoured to join with Tralee Chamber in co-sponsoring this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. As a cornerstone of the Tralee community, we recognise the importance of coming together to celebrate our shared heritage and values. The theme ‘A World of Colour’ perfectly encapsulates the diversity and vibrancy of Irish culture, and we are eager to contribute to this memorable event.”

This year’s parade promises to be a spectacular celebration like no other, embracing the beauty and diversity of our world through an explosion of vibrant inflatables, dazzling costumes, and the joyous participation of cultures from around the globe. Leading the procession as Grand Marshal is the illustrious St. Brendan’s Basketball Club, celebrating 30 years of excellence and community spirit. Experience a fresh new route as the parade kicks off at the Rose

Hotel on to Michels Road, winding through Boherbee and Castle Street before culminating in the vibrant atmosphere of Denny Street. Joining the celebration are dynamic hosts Jamie Flannery, Sean Crowley, and Brian Hurley, whose infectious energy and witty banter will keep excitement levels soaring throughout the event.

This year’s parade will once again feature the inclusion of the Sensory Street, a dedicated route along Boherbee designed to provide a welcoming and inclusive viewing experience for individuals with

autism. This ensures that everyone can enjoy the magic of the parade. Prepare to be captivated by mesmerising street performers who will entertain along the parade route, building excitement and anticipation for the main event. These talented artists will continue to spread cheer even after the parade concludes, including music by fantastic DJs stationed at two key locations: the viewing stand in Castle Street and the lively hub in Boherbee, enhancing the parade experience with rhythm and energy.

AHHHH, OLD ROMANCE . . .

Janet was lying in bed one night. Art was falling asleep, but Janet was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk. She said: “You used to hold my hand when we were courting.”

Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep. A few moments later she said: “Then you used to kiss me.

Mildly irritated, he reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep. Thirty seconds later she said: “Then you used to bite my neck.”

Angrily, Art threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed.

“Where are you going?” Janet asked. “To get my teeth!”

a couple upstairs in the bedroom . He tied up the woman and at gun-point asked the man to handover all their money and jewellery.

I hope you are happy now..

The man started sobbing and said, “Brother, take anything you want. But please, untie the rope and let her go.” The thief replied,

“You must really love your wife, having no regard for your own safety.” The man said, “No, she’s my neighbour’s wife. Mine will be back shortly!”

MY WIFE SAID. “ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?”

She turned around and walked away. I stared at her blankly and thought “that’s an odd way to start a conversation”

Easter Treat in Store at Tintean when The Fureys take the Stage!

When The Fureys make their eagerly awaited visit to the famous Tintean Theatre this Easter , they will treat their audience to one of popular music’s richest legacies.

For one night only , this musical treat will take place on Easter Saturday night March 30th .

They are one of Ireland’s all-time most acclaimed and influential middle of the road, folk and traditional bands. Furey’s classics like I Will Love You, When You Were Sweet 16, Red Rose Café, Leaving Nancy, The Old Man, From Clare to Here and The Green Fields of France have become the soundtrack to the lives of fans all over the world.

The Furey brothers were still trying to make it as folk singers in the late Sixties when Eddie Furey shared flats in Scotland with then fellow folk stars-in-waiting, Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty (of Baker Street fame). Eddie and George Furey are particularly proud of their UK chart success with songs such as I Will Love You and When You Were Sweet Sixteen, which in turn helped bring Irish folk and traditional music to a completely new audience. The band made their Top of the Pops debut in 1981. Eddie Furey recalls how “many musicians have told us we influenced them after hearing a record from their parents or grandparents’ collection”. Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics has credited Eddie with teaching him his first chords on the guitar. Eddie would return the compliment by joining Dave on stage in Paris for a jam during the latter’s wedding to Bananarama’s Siobhan Fahey. So why not treat yourself ...

make sure to book in early and secure your seats which are now on sale at www.tintean.ie. At only €35 and with limited seating available , it will surely be a night to remember !
