Will the Ashe Hotel bring Gold home from Galway next week?
The Ashe Hotel, Tralee was announced in December as a finalist in the category, Ireland’s Four Star Hotel and Ireland’s Afternoon Tea Hotel at the 2023 Gold Medal Awards, Hotel & Catering Review. Brian Scally, General Manager of The Ashe Hotel says, ‘“We are honoured that The Ashe Hotel has been recognised as a finalist in this
prestigious awards category. It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our incredible team who strive to create exceptional experiences for our guests every day. This nomination not only reflects the success of our hotel but also the warmth and hospitality that defines us. We are excited to continue setting new standards in the industry
and creating unforgettable stays for our guests.’
The Gold Medal Awards in its 34th year recognises the outstanding achievements of the hotel and catering sector across the country. An important factor in the Gold Medal Awards is the credibility and impartial nature of the judging process. Every property that
undergoes this process is subject to benchmarking against a strict set of criteria and a blind site inspection conducted by the judging panel. The category winners will be announced next Tuesday 30th January at the Galmont Hotel and Spa, Galway.

Linda Goodman – Corcoran’s Furniture & Carpets Ltd. Interior Designer
Linda Goodman works with Corcoran’s Furniture & Carpets Ltd. as their in-house interior designer expert. She has vast interior design experience having worked with companies such as Laura Ashley and Crate & Barrell (CB2). As well as working with Corcoran’s Furniture, she also has her own design business.
She studied in NCAD (National College of Art & Design) and graduated in 2007 with a degree in design, specialising in interior design. Originally from Dublin, Linda visited Kerry on holidays as a child, and that’s where her love of the Kingdom began. She decided to move to Portmagee during covid, to embrace a more peaceful way of life.
Linda’s passion for interiors began
from a young age, as she watched all the interior design shows, and she regularly did up friends and family’s homes. She has a natural intuitive ability to visualise the best use of a space and she then uses colour, furniture, lighting, and accessories to bring any room to life.
Linda provides practical interior design advice, and together with the client she works to create a space that brings their vision to life. Tune into Talkabout with Deirdre Walsh, Radio Kerry, on the first Tuesday of every month at 2pm to hear Linda discussing all things in relation to interior design.

€230,000 grant for Munster Technological University
Minister for Education and Kerry T.D, Norma Foley, has welcomed the €230,000 grant for Munster Technological University.
It is part of a €4.5 million funding package to support higher education institutions that have multiple campuses in remote regional locations.
MTU has six principal campuses, including two in Tralee and four in Cork, and over 18,000 students in total.
Minister Foley said: “I welcome the confirmation by my cabinet colleague Simon Harris, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, that MTU is getting €230,000 in funding
from the new Distributed Campus Support Fund. I want to express my thanks to Minister Harris for his personal engagement with me on our ambitious plans for the development, enhancement and growth of MTU. “
The €4.5 million Distributed Campus Support Fund was set up to help higher education institutions which have to pay higher cost for delivering core campus services across multiple sites. This can include travel costs between campuses, service costs across multiple sites and the costs of having smaller classes and lower staff student ratios in multiple campuses than single campus institutions.

CRYO CHAMBER
MARIO, THE OWNER, IS DELIGHTED TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT CRYOTHERAPY AND ITS RENOWNED BENEFITS!
Seven Key benefits of Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy, a treatment that involves exposing the body to extremely cold temperatures for a short period, offers several advantages. Here are seven key benefits of cryotherapy:
1. Pain Relief: Cryotherapy can alleviate acute or chronic pain by numbing nerve endings and reducing inflammation. It is commonly used to manage conditions such as arthritis, muscle strains, and sports injuries.
2. Reduced Inflammation: By lowering the temperature of the targeted area, cryotherapy helps decrease inflammation. This can be beneficial for conditions like tendonitis, bursitis, and swollen joints.
3. Improved Recovery: Athletes and individuals recovering from intense workouts or injuries often turn to cryotherapy to accelerate their recovery process. The cold temperatures aid in reducing muscle soreness and enhancing the body's natural healing mechanisms.
4. Increased Energy and Endurance: Cryotherapy sessions can boost energy levels and enhance physical performance. The exposure to cold temperatures stimulates blood circulation, increases oxygen delivery, and releases endorphins, promoting a sense of revitalization.
5. Enhanced Mood and Mental Well-being: Cryotherapy has shown positive effects on mental health by releasing endorphins, which are natural mood-enhancing chemicals. This treatment can help reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression.
6. Weight Management: Regular cryotherapy sessions may support weight loss efforts. The cold temperatures stimulate metabolism and increase calorie burn, aiding in fat reduction over time.
7. Skin Rejuvenation: Cryotherapy can contribute to improved skin health. The cold temperatures promote blood circulation, leading to a brighter complexion, tighter skin, and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
While cryotherapy offers numerous potential benefits, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new treatment to ensure it is suitable for your specific needs and medical history...
