The Trails Recreation Center was built in 2004 by the Trails Park and Recreation District and designed with the community in mind. We offer a range of programs like sports leagues for volleyball and basketball, challenging group fitness classes such as yoga, Zumba, and PiYo (Pilates and yoga combined), personal training sessions, and pottery, art, or line dancing lessons within our 78,000 square-foot facility.

Parent Tot (Ages: 6 months - 3 years)
Dive into the world of water fun with your little one! Designed as a baby swimming lesson for toddlers ages 6 months to 3 years, Parent-Tot Swim offers a dynamic mix of water exploration and skill-building exercises. With a parent or guardian in the water, toddlers will build water confidence by learning how to blow bubbles, float and kick on their front and back, jump into the pool with assistance, as well as basic arm movements for swimming strokes. Different games and activities with floating bath toys may be used to teach swimming principles throughout this infant swim lesson.
Preschool 1 (Ages: 3-5)
Learn to swim and enroll your 3 to 5-year-old in our Preschool Level 1 Swim Class to watch them gain confidence in the water and develop a strong foundation for future swimming success. Our toddler swimming lesson instructors will guide children through fundamental skills such as blowing bubbles, breath control, floating, and flutter kicks, all while instilling important water safety principles for beginners.
Preschool 2 (Ages: 3-5)
Geared toward children ages 3-5 years who have passed our Preschool Level 1 swimming class (or can complete the prerequisites), Level 2 builds on existing knowledge taught within the learn to swim program and teaches participants to float unassisted, retrieve objects at the bottom of the pool, refine their kicks and strokes, and enter and exit the pool unassisted.
Preschool Level 3 is a swimming class for kids tailored for those 3-to-5-year-olds who have already completed Level 1 and Level 2 (or can fulfill the prerequisites) and are ready to conquer new swim lesson challenges. From mastering effective arm and leg movements to learning breathing techniques and diving into various swim strokes, our experienced instructors provide kids with individualized swim instruction in a fun and engaging environment.

Youth Level 1 (Ages: 6-12)
If you’ve been looking for a swim lesson in Centennial that teaches kids ages 6-12 essential skills including floating on their front and back, facial submersion, and basic arm and kicking movements, then our Youth Level 1 beginner swim class is for you. Our learn to swim program also covers effective pool entry and exit techniques, ensuring your child feels comfortable and confident in any aquatic setting.
Youth Level 2 (Ages: 6-12)
Designed as a swimming class for kids who have successfully completed the Youth Level 1 class (or can fulfill the prerequisites), Youth Level 2 builds on the skills taught in previous swimming lessons like floating unassisted and refining front and back kicking movements, entering and exiting the pool unassisted, and improving arm strokes.
Youth Level 3 (Ages: 6-12)

Young swimmers will focus specifically on effective arm and leg movements, proper breathing methods, and introductory sessions on advanced swim strokes like the breaststroke and front crawl.
Youth Level 4 (Ages: 6-12)
If you’ve been searching for kids swimming lessons that’ll teach an advanced level of swim instruction, then our Youth Level 4 class in our learn to swim program is for you. This swim class focuses on fundamental stroke refinement, improving form on advance strokes, introduces or refines the butterfly stroke, and teaches surface diving.
Youth Advanced (Ages: 6-12)
Created as a way for proficient youth swimmers to enhance their current swimming abilities, Youth Advanced is a swimming class for kids that will expand on techniques, refine turns, and improve breathing while in the water.

Youth Conditioning (Ages: 6-12)
If your child can swim advanced strokes for 100 yards without stopping and still can’t get enough water time, then our Youth Conditioning kids swimming class is for them. This swim series will help your 6–12-year-old build stamina, proper form, and refine the skills needed for continuous swimming; it is specifically designed to prepare for competitive swimming, triathlons, or hard exercise.
Teen & Adult Beginner (Ages: 13+)
If you’ve been searching for adult swim lessons or swim lessons for adults in your browser and have been wanting to learn to swim, then our Teen and Adult Beginner swim class is for you. Designed for those with minimal water experience, participants will learn proper arm and kick movements for a front crawl and back stroke, how to float effectively on their front and back, and receive an introduction to different survival strokes.
Teen & Adult Conditioning (Ages: 13+)
Modeled similarly to our Youth Conditioning, Teen and Adult Conditioning is another class in our adult swim lessons series. This swim class will help anyone 13 or older build endurance, correct their form, and refine the skills needed for continuous swimming; it is specifically designed to prepare for competitive swimming, triathlons, or hard exercise.
Q: What are the Pool temperatures?
A: Per the CDC’s Guidelines, our pool temperatures are as follows:
• Activity pool: 86-87F
• Lap Pool: 82-84F
• Hot Tub: 102-104F
Q: What should I or my child wear to swim lessons?
A: Swimmers should wear a well-fitted swimsuit. Swim caps and goggles are recommended but not required. See each class listing to see specific clothing/accessories requirements.
Q: Who can benefit from private swim lessons?
A: Individuals of all ages and skill levels, including beginners, intermediate, advanced swimmers, and those training for competitions or triathlons.
Everyone has different and unique goals when it comes to swimming, which is why private swim lessons are flexible and customizable; if you’re uncomfortable in a group setting, want to improve your swim strokes, are looking for specific swim guidance, or are seeking specialized swim team training, then our private lessons are for you! If you’ve been wondering how to play pickleball or what the rules of pickleball are, then our Start New, Finish on Top pickleball lessons are for you! This beginner pickleball class will help participants learn the fundamentals of pickleball such as handling the paddle, how to return, hit ground strokes, volley, and proper game etiquette.

Take your pickleball game to the next level and continue with our pickleball classes! Squeeze the Juice teaches you how to rally, where the best spots on the indoor pickleball court are (don’t worry, it applies for outdoor courts as well), different rules of pickleball, and more. Work on consistency, accuracy, and positioning while honing your volleys, overheads, speed-ups, half-volleys, and specialty shots.

Sharpen your strategic edge with pickleball classes that focus on shot placement, paddle technique, and tactical shot selection. Going One Step Further will help you gain insights on when to use different shot types depending on specific game scenarios – a crucial skill set when facing higher-level competition. Practice top-spin and back-spin dinks, how to speed shots against opponents, using half volley drives and drops, and how to attack from the Transition Zone. After you complete this set of pickleball lessons, people will be coming to you to ask for tips on how to play pickleball!

A: If you have a group of friends or colleagues and want to register as a team, the only team-based registration we currently offer is for our Adult Basketball League.
Our Adult Volleyball League is designed for individuals looking to join a team or participate independently; participants will be placed on teams by our staff.

If you’ve been searching for a youth basketball league in Aurora that’ll give your child an opportunity to put their basketball training to the test, then enroll them in our Triple Threat League! Participants can expect one hour of weekly practice to work on their skills and one weekly game (held on Saturdays for kids ages 5-7 and Sundays for youth ages 8-10). Rock Climbing Rookies is a beginner rock climbing class for kids that will teach them the basic skills required to top rope safely. They’ll learn how to put on a harness and other essential techniques such as footwork and handholds. Climbers will also learn how to work through their fears, problem solve while on the wall, patiently wait to climb, and how to encourage others on the indoor climbing wall.

Ballet Beginner II (Ages: 5-10)

Ballet Beginner II is the next step in our series of ballet classes for kids, after the successful completion of either Pre-ballet or Ballet Beginner. Expanding on ballet terms previously taught, students will focus on dance moves including tendu, sauté, relevé, and balancé to help students develop a more robust ballet knowledge.

This class is meant as a continuation from Sampler Combo or as a beginner tap dance class for young children. Kids will learn various tap dancing steps and terminology like the flap, shuffle, dig, and toe tap. Mondays from 4:15-5:00 pm.
Hip Hop I (Ages: 5-10)
This kids hip hop class teaches self-expression and creativity in a group setting. Hip Hop is a high energy, rhythmic form of dance that focuses on body isolation techniques and sharp movements. Tuesdays from 4:00-4:45 pm or Tuesdays from 6:00-6:45 pm.
Hip Hop II (Ages: 9-16)

Take your hip hop dance skills to the next level with Hip Hop II. Meant as a continuation of Hip Hop I, this dance class will build on students’ knowledge with fun choreography, skills, and dance moves.
Q: Is there a dress code for dance classes?
A: We recommend wearing comfortable dance attire that allows for ease of movement. Specific dress codes may vary depending on the dance style (ballet and tap shoes are required for those classes and can be purchased at the Front desk for $15 for ballet shoes and $25 for tap shoes).
Q: Are the adult dance classes included in the Winter Dance Recital?
A: In previous years, some of our adult classes - like Burlesque/Heels and Belly Dance - have participated in our annual winter recital. Please ask your instructor for specific details.

The two-step is a partner and progressive dance that moves counterclockwise around the dance floor, known as the racetrack. Partners begin in a closed position, with the leader facing the line of dance and the follower dancing backward. As they progress, both partners perform various patterns while moving along the line of dance. This makes the two-step fun, creative, and challenging, all set to the rhythm of good old country music.

This is a basic beginner workshop for East Coast Swing, a lively and enjoyable dance style. East Coast Swing is danced to Big Band Swing, Rock and Roll, Country, and Boogie-Woogie music. Often referred to simply as “Swing” today, it is also known as the Jitterbug and is incredibly fun to learn and dance.

“3 Tequila Floor” is a challenging 32-count, 4-wall line dance choreographed by Madison Glover and Jo Thompson Szymanski. It is set to the song “3 Tequila Floor” by Josiah Siska, which has a country genre with a hint of Motown. This dance is fun to learn and even more enjoyable once you’ve mastered it.

This lively country round dance offers an enjoyable experience where participants dance with their partners and then switch partners, moving in a full circle before reuniting with their original partners. Resembling a square dance but without the square formation, dancers will proceed in a counterclockwise direction. This event is always a huge success, with everyone having an exceptional time! Both singles and couples are welcome to join.

Q: Do you offer art supplies for classes, or should participants bring their own?
A: We do supply our art classes with different materials. The exception is our pottery class, where adult students need to buy a bag of clay as well as the firing fee, which is sold separately (on Amilia). If you fire your items in your own home kiln, you do not need to purchase the firing fee. This fee covers every piece of art you can create with your 25 lb. bag of clay. Our Pilates class focuses on increasing strength, flexibility and muscle tone with a focus on improving posture, proprioception and functional strength. This intermediate to advanced class taught by a Certified Personal Trainer combines the best of cardiovascular and strength training for a workout that will challenge your mind and body. This intermediate total body conditioning class is designed for very active adults 60 & over who wish to increase their stamina and strength. The class encompasses multiple formats utilizing dumbbells, bands, steps, stability balls, and BOSUs. We stress functional training with an emphasis on core strength and stability.
Our small group specialty classes are programs that patrons must register for and are taught by a Certified Personal Trainer. Registration runs from the 15th at 5:00 pm through the 25th at 11:59 pm. Have you ever wondered how people meditate? This class will teach you how to experience true meditation! Led by a Certified Personal Trainer with 20 years of Yoga experience and extensive training at the Himalayan Institute.

This interval style class consists of a combination of low impact aerobics, strength training, and balance and stability improving movements. Designed for active adults 60+ who wish to improve their overall stamina and strength.
Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 pm.
Get strong and stay fit! Use a variety of free weights, machines, and body weight to challenge all your muscles. Your strength will be mixed with cardio bursts to torch body fat and get you stronger and more fit than you ever thought was possible.
Saturdays from 8:00-9:00 am
Join us for a Personal Trainer-led, complete headto-toe workout that includes full body exercises to strengthen and tone muscles, improve endurance and cardiovascular health. Core work & stretching will round out this dynamic class.
Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 pm, or Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm.
This intermediate class provides personal instruction in a fun, energetic small group setting. We will encompass multiple exercise formats and a variety of exercise tools to give you a full body workout.

A: The Trails contracts with ATAFMA (Family Martial Arts Training Center) to teach our taekwondo classes.

A: Our martial arts program is open to individuals of all ages, starting from 4 years old to adults.

A: Classes generally include a warm-up, skill development drills, technique practice, sparring or controlled drills, and a cool-down period.

Tiny Tigers (Ages: 4-6)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:00 pm or 5:15-5:45 pm.
Tiny Tigers Taekwondo is a kids’ martial arts program that gives participants a peak into the world of Martial Arts. Help your child learn how to increase their strength, coordination, balance, discipline, and focus through different moves and positions. Led by a martial arts instructor, kids will also be taught respect, integrity, perseverance, and self-control.
Participants in either of the taekwondo classes require a one-time purchase of a protective gear package for $150 that students can use throughout their training.

Join our Community CPR Training course and become certified in essential life-saving techniques for adults, children, and infants. Led by certified instructors affiliated with the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), this program covers rescue breathing, choking response, and CPR to help you gain the confidence and skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies.

Our Babysitter Training will teach youth ages 11-15 the essential skills required to create a safe environment while caring for children. Learn crucial techniques such as CPR, first aid, and basic life support to ensure you’re equipped to handle any situation with confidence; we’ll even share different interview tips and trainings during this babysitter course.

The Trails Golf Tournament features a shotgun start, 18 holes of golf, a golf cart for you and your team to ride around in, tournament apparel that will add a flair to your game style, and a delicious luncheon. You’ll also be able to purchase mulligans to help you out on the green and can enter to win prizes from a variety of giveaways. Proceeds go toward Trails Youth Athletics and space is limited, so begin compiling your roster of perfect players and we’ll see you out on the fairway!
