Class Cancellation & Refund Policy

Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made before the class begins. Cancellations within 5 days or less of the class start date will incur a 50% fee. No refunds for missed classes on behalf of the participant. Refunds are processed to the original payment method; allow up to two weeks for check refunds. Medical or relocation issues may qualify for a full refund. For more details, contact the program supervisor.

Facility Center Code of Conduct

Patrons are encouraged to behave in an appropriate manner and should act in a way that will not injure another person physically or emotionally. Individuals who do not abide by facility and program standards may be asked to leave the facility and/or withdraw from a program. Actions interfering with or disrupting the Trails Recreation staff while trying to provide a safe and secure family environment will be cause for expulsion from all District facilities.

Parent-Tot Swim (ages 6 months-3 years)

Parent-Tot is a fun, interactive class for children ages 0–3 and their parent or guardian. One adult participates in the water with the child to provide support and encouragement. Children are introduced to basic water skills such as bubbles, water comfort, front and back floats, kicks, early arm movements, wall crawls, and assisted jumps. Lessons use games and playful activities, including floating toys, to build confidence and enjoyment in the water.

Swim School Level 1: White & Red (ages 3-5)

Swim School Level 1: White & Red focuses on foundational water safety and beginner swim skills for children new to swim lessons. Participants practice safe water entry and exit, front and back floating, and kicking while developing balance and body awareness in the pool. Swimmers also work on breath control by holding their breath and looking underwater, building early confidence below the surface.

Swim School Level 2: Yellow & Blue (ages 3-5)

Swim School Level 2: Yellow & Blue focuses on developing early stroke skills and essential self-rescue techniques for advancing swimmers. Participants practice beginner front and back strokes, learn to roll between front and back positions, and build endurance by treading water for 10 seconds. Swimmers also work on side breathing with a steady kick to improve coordination and breath control.

Swim School Level 3: Green (ages 3-5)

Swim School Level 3: Green is designed for swimmers who are ready to refine stroke technique, build endurance, and gain confidence with more advanced water skills. Swimmers practice foundational swim strokes and improve endurance by treading water for up to 40 seconds. This level emphasizes proper front stroke technique, including over-arm action, strong flutter kicks, and rhythmic 1, 2, 3 breathing with the face in the water.

Youth Beginner (ages 6-12)

This introductory youth class bridges the gap for swimmers ages 6–12 who have not yet graduated from the Swim School program. Students will build comfort, confidence, and independence in the water while developing the foundational skills and strokes needed to successfully transition into Stroke School Level 1: White.

Stroke School Level 1: White focuses on refining essential freestyle and backstroke techniques while improving efficiency and coordination in the water. Participants work on flutter kick strength, rhythmic 1-2-3 breathing, above-water arm recovery, and proper underwater catch and pull mechanics. This level helps swimmers develop smoother, more controlled movement while building confidence in continuous swimming.

Stroke School Level 2: Red (ages 6-12)

Stroke School Level 2: Red focuses on developing resting and self-supporting swim strokes that enhance safety, efficiency, and control. Participants practice elementary backstroke and sidestroke while learning proper body positioning and the inverted scissor kick. Emphasis is placed on smooth, relaxed movement and effective technique for sustained swimming.

Advancement to the next stroke school level requires swimmers to consistently demonstrate strong elementary backstroke and sidestroke skills, supporting continued progression in stroke development and water safety-focused swim lessons.

Stroke School Level 3: Yellow is designed for swimmers ready to take on more advanced and powerful stroke techniques.

This level focuses on butterfly stroke fundamentals, including a strong dolphin kick and coordinated above-water arm recovery. Swimmers work on timing, body position, and rhythm to create efficient and controlled butterfly movement through the water.

Youth Conditioning (ages 6-12)

This class focuses on building endurance and overall fitness while working toward the Green achievement level. Participants will swim multiple lengths of the pool in structured sets designed to improve stamina, efficiency, and cardiovascular fitness. The class also emphasizes skills and conditioning that prepare swimmers for swim team participation, including sustained swimming, pacing, and overall water endurance.

Stroke School Level 4: Blue (ages 6-12)

Stroke School Level 4: Blue is designed for advanced swimmers who are ready to master breaststroke and improve overall efficiency in the water. Participants focus on underwater catch, pull, and recovery mechanics while developing strong, controlled breaststroke technique. Swimmers also build endurance and water safety skills by practicing a two-minute survival float.

Youth Advanced: Green (ages 6-12)

Youth Advanced: Green focuses on high-level swim conditioning and technical skills for experienced swimmers. Participants practice interval training to improve endurance and pacing while learning proper flip turns and backstroke turns.

Emphasis is also placed on advanced water safety through survival floating and sustained treading water for five minutes. This class supports swimmers who want to build strength, stamina, and efficiency in a structured swim lesson environment while continuing to develop lifelong swimming and fitness skills.

This program is suitable for both beginners and players with prior basketball experience.

The Trails Recreation Center offers hands-on Babysitter training through the Health and Safety Institute. Training in this course shows students how to identify potentially dangerous situations, how to summon emergency services, appropriate babysitter behavior, how to communicate with children/ adults, how to safely manage children, and other principles.

Students will interact with each other and the instructor in a fun constructive learning environment to gain a full understanding of what it takes to effectively and safely babysit children of multiple ages/backgrounds.

Trails Recreation Center: Facility Refresh

This multi-year renovation will modernize key areas at the Trails Recreation Center, like the lobby, locker rooms, childcare, conference room, gym, and multipurpose rooms (like our event rooms, fitness studios, and dance studio), while introducing updated finishes to create fresh, welcoming spaces for the public to enjoy.

Lookout Pool: 2025 Renovation Project

The Lookout Pool Renovation Project is a major improvement effort designed to modernize the facility, enhance safety, and create a more enjoyable aquatic experience for the community. This renovation focuses on updating critical infrastructure, improving accessibility, and refreshing the overall look and feel of the pool area.

Tall Grass Park: Improvement Project

Restrooms and pickleball courts are coming to Tall Grass Park! Already home to a basketball court, playground, multi-use field, and 9-hole disc golf course, the 2026 Tall Grass Park Improvement Project will focus on adding two pickleball courts, a vault restroom, and small boardwalk section to the south east portion of the park.

Village Park: Improvement Project

One of the biggest highlights of the 2026 Improvement Project is a new play structure designed for children ages 2-5. This new area will include inclusive musical and sensory play features, creating more opportunities for imaginative play and interactive experiences for young visitors of all abilities.

Ridge Park: Improvement Project

Ridge Park improvements will include a completely redesigned playground with new equipment afor children ages 2–12. A new crusher-fine nature trail will offer a soft-surface route for exploring the surrounding landscape, while enhanced pathways and accessible features will make the park easier to navigate for visitors of all abilities.

Lookout Park: Public Planning Meeting #2 for Master Plan

Help determine the future of Lookout Park! We will be discussing the results of our public outreach survey from Meeting #1, reviewing some of the park concepts that have been presented, listen to community feedback, and discuss next steps for the master plan.

Genevie is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and health coach who specializes in strength training, weight loss, and lifestyle change. She also enjoys working with youth and adults with special needs and exceptionalities.
