Introduction
DearFriendsandNeighbors,
As we close out an exciting and transformative year, I am thrilled to present the first-ever annual report for the Trails Park and Recreation District. 2024 has been a year of reflection, innovation, and celebration—a year that marks the beginning ofanewchapterforourorganization.
A highlight of this year was a major milestone for one of our most cherished facilities: the 20th anniversary of the Trails Recreation Center in November. For two decades, the Trails Recreation Center has been a cornerstone of our community—a place where friendships are formed, families come together, and residents of all ages find joy, wellness, and connection. Celebrating its 20th anniversary was a moment to honor its rich history and we look forward to many moreyearsofservicetoourcommunity.
In addition to this milestone, 2024 was the year we embarked on an exciting transformation: our rebrand. For years, we’ve heard the same feedback from our community: our name was confusing. People often thought we were part of Arapahoe County (an understandable assumption) or believed the Trails Recreation Center was an independent facility (when in fact, we operate as one cohesive unit). These misconceptions often left residents unaware of the incrediblevarietyofparks, trails, openspaces, andrecreationalopportunitieswe provide.
We knew it was time for a change—a name and brand that would not only reduce confusion but also reflect our true identity and mission. We wanted something that would resonate with our community, inspire connection, and stand out as a symbol of who we are: a district dedicated to fostering family, friendship, andaloveoftheoutdoors.
This rebrand is more than a new name or logo; it’s a promise. A promise to grow with our community, to innovate, and to continue enhancing the services and experiences that make our district a cornerstone of life here. It is the first step in an exciting new direction—a glimpse of the bright future we are building together.
This year, we also introduced an internal marketing department and park maintenance department to the district; both have greatly influenced the direction, look, and reach of TPRD. As you read through this report, you’ll find stories of growth, milestones, and progress. From celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Trails Recreation Center to enhancing parks, trails, and open spacesacrossourdistrict,2024hasbeenayeartoremember.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we’re shaping the future of TrailsParkandRecreationDistrict, andIcan’twaittoseewhat’snext.
