FOR THE BIRDS
![]()
Since the earliest time of man, birds have inspired our deepest imaginations. Fearless and free in the sky, birds make us wonder what would it be like to fly? While we may never know, we can observe and learn from these beautiful animals we share the earth with. With this new collection of recent works, I attempt to create a glimpse into the wild, untamed spirit of nature’s birds and bring awareness to the importance of wildlife protection.

J.R. Hess began his young professional career as a cell animator and cartoonist for Walt Disney Studios. He then moved west a short time later to work as a patina artist finishing bronze sculptures for Wyland Galleries. His interest in all avenues of art have lead him down many diversified roads and experiences from which he draws for his current works. After years of experimenting with various multimedia and classical art forms, he personally finds working in graphite and color pencil to be the most rewarding of all mediums. With his artwork, Hess attempts to bring awareness of the importance of wildlife conservation and cultural preservation. J.R. Hess studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and The Art Center of Albuquerque, NM.
All works executed on Strathmore Bristole Vellum 100 lb paper and framed with Tru Vue Museum Glass.
