Trailside Galleries and Art Advisory is pleased to offer a selection of works by renowned American painter Daniel Gerhartz. These luminous paintings are from the estate of a distinguished art patron and collector and are now available for the first time since they were originally acquired.
Classically trained at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Gerhartz possesses an effortless technical facility for painting as well as a deep and abiding kinship to the traditional artists from the late 19th Century. John Singer Sargent, Alphonse Mucha, Nicolai Fechin and the French and American Impressionists are among the artists that have provided inspiration through their understanding of the human form, nuanced brushwork and their ability to capture light, color and movement.
Born in 1965, Gerhartz grew up in rural Wisconsin, an area he continues to call home. The unspoiled beauty of the nearby Kettle Moraine State Forest was his playground as a child and provides inspiration for many of his paintings today. Gerhartz’s subjects are often family or friendly locals who serve as models and they form the core of his traditional figurative paintings and portraiture. Whether painting figurative works, warm domestic interiors or lush landscapes, his canvas is imbued with inspiration and meaning of long-standing ideas about human existence, the beauty of the simple and the depth of family relationships.
His work has been featured in many invitational exhibitions including the Prix de West and the Artists of America as well as in public and private collections nationwide.
