Gymnastics Trafford Direct Debit Movement

Jo Cherrett I know that we are all still coming to terms with what happened on Monday 22nd May and I am sure like me you are extremely proud of how the city is coming together, staying strong as one. This has also been evident in our own Trafford Leisure with each of you supporting each other however this is required. We were all aware that, following this senseless attack. The Prime Minister announced that the threat level across the UK would be increased from ‘severe’ to ‘critical’. There was a belief that an attack may be imminent and I am sure like me you were hoping this was precautionary and not as we all know now a reality as a further terrorist attack took place in London at the weekend. Our sympathies are with all those affected. It is important that the safety of our customers and colleagues remains our number one priority and over the last couple of weeks and next few weeks we are refreshing our procedures.

Refresher training is being arranged and we all need to make sure that we take our responsibilities to security and access control seriously to ensure we are doing what we say we will do. We will continue to operate our buildings as normal but please ensure that if anyone has any suspicions or concerns that you inform your line manager quickly.

So, when I say business as normal - what has been happening this month?

A lot of work has gone into our new recruitment campaign for Swimming Teachers. We have a fantastic experienced team of 35 teachers but with the growth expected for this area of the business we probably need another 20 teachers to join our team! So please look out for our new job opportunities, you don’t have to have a teacher qualification or be a very good swimmer but you do need to be able to encourage adults and children, have good planning and organising skills and be able to motivate and inspire people. If you have a friend or family member that may be interested in these opportunities, then refer someone to us and if they are recruited we will give you £100 when they have been with us six months.

The highlight of my May was the first Employee Voice lunch that I shared with a group of staff who had their birthday in May. As you know we are still a relatively new company and the launching of Employee Voice, is the first of many steps in the commitment to making sure all staff have a voice whereby you can directly communicate to me your views on things that impact on you. Each month birthday cards with an invitation will go out to a selection of staff from all parts of the business whose birthday it is that month. You will have the opportunity to join me away from the business, like the group did this month at the Slug and Lettuce in Sale and talk to me about what impacts on you. I thoroughly enjoyed the lunch and I hope the team members that joined me felt the same. They did the talking and I just listened (which I found hard at times). Three simple questions were asked and discussed: 1.

I would like to thank the first group I met with, you were extremely open, I learnt a lot and I hope that when your birthday comes round again in twelve months’ time, if not before, there may be something that you feel has changed and that it could have come from what you said to me twelve months ago. I start the day by making sure the toys are clean and safe for the children to play with. I then put all the toys out in the room ready for the children. I check the room and toilets are clean and safe and the I put the safety gates up at the doorways so the children don’t leave the room unnoticed. I put out the tea and coffee which i provide for the parents each day and on Fridays i also provide cakes for everybody.

Each day the children have juice and biscuits and we all sit together and sing nursery rhymes. I really love working with the children and have made some good friends with the mums over the years. At Christmas time I always arrange a Tiny Teds Christmas party to celebrate a successful, fun and enjoyable year.

Cooper Staff Profile Roles & Responsibilities: My role is Head Greenkeeper at Altrincham Golf Course. I have been working at Altrincham now for just over a year and I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have been here and I am looking forward to the future of the golf course and the business.
