Trafford Swimming Club Network The 4 Trafford Swimming Clubs and Swim Trafford have now been successful at gaining the Swim21 essentials accreditation.

The ASA have let us know that we are the only network in the UK to have the whole of the development and performance pathway accredited.

Because of this, the ASA have decided to work with us to pilot the new Swim21 club network accreditation. This will take 6 – 12 months to work through but, if successful, we will be the FIRST and ONLY borough to hold this type of accreditation. Swim Well just leading the way on a National scale now! Well Done team!

George H Carnall Leisure Centre achieved the second highest number of membership sales with 63 sales. Stretford Chester achieved the highest number of membership sales during this promotion with 123 memberships sold. Altrincham achieved the highest number of annuals during this promotion with 17 annuals sold.

You will have already seen at our leisure centres that we are running a Zest World Cup Members Challenge. In this challenge members try to match the distances covered by world class footballers.

There are 3 levels with 8 players per level, once a level is completed they will receive a Zest football T-shirt.

Each member has 8 weeks to complete the challenge.

Football Frenzy Barclays says Thank you to community heroes with exclusive event at Manchester United!

Manchester United stars Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher greeted our TUF*C coaches, Football Development coaches, Old Trafford Sports Barn staff and volunteers at Carrington on Thursday 1st May. The exclusive event was part of Premier League title sponsors Barclays way of thanking the coaches for their commitment to the local community.

The tournament will be run by TUF*C and take place outdoors on the 3G. It will be 6 aside with at

least one female player to be playing (if you don’t have a female you will be playing with 5 players).

To keep things simple we have the following teams taking part:

Old Trafford Sports Barn is a Barclays Spaces for Sports site, one of 200 community sports sites that Barclays has built with partners like ourselves and the Football Foundation.

The coaches associated with the site were chosen for this reward because of the valuable work they do in the community.

Our Chief Executive, Bernie Jones, said: “All the coaches and volunteers were thrilled with the afternoon at Manchester United. The two players were more than generous with their time and answered some difficult questions. Our staff loved it and we can’t thank Barclays enough. It’s a great way to end the season.”

Special Recognition Staff from Altrincham and George H Carnall Leisure Centres were invited to the North West Ambulance Service’s Cardiacsmart Awards Ceremony to receive a special Life Saving Award.

The award aims to recognise those who have made outstanding efforts to save the life of a person suffering a cardiac arrest.

Along with staff, both Gordon Hutchinson and Ian Holding, whose lives were saved by our staff using the defibrillators at their centres. Gordon and Ian both made a speech before the staff received their awards and highlighed how thankful they are to the quick actions that helped save their lives.

Trafford Swimming Club Network The 4 Trafford Swimming Clubs and Swim Trafford have now been successful at gaining the Swim21 essentials accreditation.

The ASA have let us know that we are the only network in the UK to have the whole of the development and performance pathway accredited.

Because of this, the ASA have decided to work with us to pilot the new Swim21 club network accreditation. This will take 6 – 12 months to work through but, if successful, we will be the FIRST and ONLY borough to hold this type of accreditation. Swim Well just leading the way on a National scale now! Well Done team!
