The cardinal rule of email attachments is to think before you open.

Were you expecting an attachment from the sender? Does the message mention an attachment? Does the message make sense?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, you should be suspicious.

Confirm with the sender whether they really intended to send the attachment before opening it. In no case should you open an unexpected or unusual attachment just to ‘see what it is’.

Be particularly cautious about executable files, which end with these extensions: .exe, .com, .vbs, .lnk, .pif, .scr, .bat, .zip.

Jon Francis has been taking the time to get out and about across the business since taking the new position of Head of Business and each of the General Managers have moved to their new areas! The Senior Team is still looking at what other resources we need over the next few years to make sure we can maintain business as usual whilst bringing the new developments to life.

Disabled Judo.

Steve is in charge of the Special Needs Section of the British Judo Association and is the Head National Coach for the Paralympic Judo Squad.

Urmston is very close to an actual on site start date; the Team at Urmston and George H Carnall have been working hard and on the back of the musical theatre taking place in February the gymnastics and trampoline programme at Urmston has moved fully across to George H Carnall and will remain there until Urmston is completed. Other bookers will start to move over in the coming weeks. A full development team meeting is planned for Thursday 15th March 2018 which will then lead into the development going live and activity starting on site!

Plans for the new Stretford Leisure Centre are developing and in the last week more work has taken place on both Sale and Altrincham. A site visit took place at Sale Leisure centre with Sport England last week and this week I am with a small team visiting the Altrincham site. I know it must, and has, felt like a long time for the Altrincham plans to be bought forward, the location was always the most challenging and as soon as I can share with you – I will.

Altrincham Golf has not been forgotten, central heating and car park works have been agreed and budgets allocated, we have also asked architects 5 plus to produce a feasibility study on the golf to investigate how we may improve the club/shop area, changing provision and driving range. The Start of the season is just around the corner and we are keen to involve both staff and customers in our thoughts around the future of golf in Trafford.

A massive well done to Steve Pullen for receiving such an amazing award!

He was awarded the Coaching Award for 1995 from the National Coach Foundation and was presented with the Churchill Fellowship Award 1989 by Her Majesty the Queen.

There have been only 20 7th Dan’s in Britain (although some are no longer with us) so this is a great achievement. To receive 7th Dan you must have been a 6th Dan for over 12 years and been coaching Judo at Olympic, Paralympic and International level. Steve has been doing Judo for over an amazing 60 years.

Steve has also been awarded Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship 1989, coached European Champions Ryan and Rowena Birch and Simon Jackson who won Gold Medals at 3 consecutive Olympic Games.

In the picture is the Ghanaian team which have been coming to Manchester since 2002 to train and study coaching methods at Urmston and Ippon Judo Club. They train between 5 and 6 times a week.

Budgets – lots of hard work has taken place, thank you to everyone involved. The budgets will continue to be worked on by the Senior Leadership Team and support office colleagues so that once agreed I am ready to present to our Board of Directors ahead of the new financial year starting on 1st April 2018.

If it wasn’t for Aaron who had the courage to approach the man then it is likely that the individual would not be with us today. This is a very proud moment for Aaron, as well as for Trafford Leisure, employing individuals who go that extra mile helping and saving lives, not only on pool side but in
