The cardinal rule of email attachments is to think before you open. Were you expecting an attachment from the sender? Does the message mention an attachment? Does the message make sense? If the answer to any of these questions is no, you should be suspicious. Confirm with the sender whether they really intended to send the attachment before opening it. In no case should you open an unexpected or unusual attachment just to ‘see what it is’. Be particularly cautious about executable files, which end with these extensions: .exe, .com, .vbs, .lnk, .pif, .scr, .bat, .zip. If you have any further questions, or are unsure
