Student Loan Assistance Program
College-educated ag producers can apply for up to five years of student loan assistance The Montana Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) Student Loan Assistance Program is now accepting applications. Established during the 2019 legislative session, this program provides student loan assistance to Montana’s college-educated youth pursuing careers in farming or ranching. “The Student Loan Assistance Program seeks to help relieve some of the financial stressors that our young farmers and ranchers often face,” said MDA Director Jillien Streit. “When we can encourage or help bring a kid back to the farm, that’s a win for Montana agriculture.” Qualified farmers and ranchers are eligible for student loan assistance through the program for up to five years. Applicants must be a Montana resident designated as the primary owner, heir, successor or assignee of a farm or ranch in Montana that obtained their associated or baccalaureate degree(s) from a Montana college or university and have agreed to operate their farm or ranch for at least five years. A “treasure” we came across in one of our many travels through our National Forest Lands in Montana. Apparently it is an old steam boiler from some type of mining operation years ago. Maybe copper mining etc.
Montana ranch becomes one of two Wild Horse Adoption Centers in the Northwest
Eleven wild horses stepped off a trailer at Stoltz Ranch on Fly Creek Road on March 12th, marking a milestone not just for one family’s passion project, but for wild horse adoption access across the entire northwestern United States. Stoltz Ranch, owned and operated by Trent Stoltz, has been approved as a Branded Adoption Center through Forever Branded, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse and Burro Program. The designation makes Stoltz Ranch one of two Forever Branded Adoption Center for wild horses in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the greater Northwest region — bringing wild horse adoption closer to thousands of potential adopters who previously had no nearby option. What Is a Branded Adoption Center? Branded Adoption Centers are privately operated facilities contracted through Forever Branded to house and offer federally protected wild horses and burros to the public. Each center must pass a rigorous application,
