The cattle business is the people business, and we enjoy building new relationships as well as growing old ones through seedstock cattle. The Red Angus breed has continued is unprecedented growth for a variety of reasons: exceptional carcass merit and opportunity for premiums at harvest, accuracy of EPDs, and adding value to commercial cross breeding systems. However, we feel the most important reason to be using Red Angus genetics is the momma cow. Her ability to calve easy, keep her flesh, breed back in a timely manner, and then still push the scales at weaning time is what has solidified the breed’s place in second amongst all others in America.

Our first and highest priority when making selection decisions is on the female. If we didn’t feel that these bulls’daughters could work in any part of the country, they would not be on offer. It is the cow family behind the bull that separates the average from the best. We have continued to build a breeding program based around some of the most proven maternal genetics that North America has to offer.

I would like to point out that many of bulls in the offering are embryo transfer calves. I have identified those in the footnotes. Please keep in mind that the actual BWs on those individuals are not indicative of their true genetics, and more indicative of their recipient mother’s birthweight tendencies. Also, the Red Angus EPDs have been modified slightly since last year. The EPDs themselves have not changed, just the breed averages for a handful of traits. Because of this, it is continually important to measure a bull’s value based on the percentile ranking of whichever EPD is being evaluated.

We will, however, being offering a $100 cash discount to anyone wanting to take his or her bull home directly after the sale. We will deliver bulls free of charge up to 300 miles. After 300 miles, standard trucking rates will apply. If the buyer is unable to take their purchase on sale day, we will board the bulls free of charge until April 15. A $50 discount will be given for any bull taken home sale day.

The genetic combination of Soldier x Patty is one that has been in the works for nearly the last four years, and these calves have exceeded expectations. Denali and his flushmate, Yukon, offer an opportunity to acquire genetics from the 2010 Canadian National Champion female, and the sire of countless high sellers and champions across North America. The first to sell in an outstanding duo of Mulberry ET calves. Mayhem’s dam, Miss 9X was purchased in the Wildcat Creek dispersal, and immediately started making an impact on our program. Mulberry himself needs no introduction, and semen is highly sought after and still commands huge premiums in the market place. This bull is a unique combination of one of the best female makers the breed has ever seen, with a powerful donor who routinely stamps her calves with the same muscle shape and bone density. The Soldier x Lakota mating has become a cornerstone of our program. The consistency in the daughters and sons make it a go to mating for us. Kings Guard exhibits much of the same look and power as his full brother, YCRA Ranger D19, the 2017 Houston Stock Show champion who is a senior herdsire for Sierra Angus in Sonora, Mexico. Very similar bull to his flush brother, Kings Guard, he is another one of the best individuals to date from this mating. F43 is a bit deeper red, and has a bit more length and extension. This bull had an injury earlier in the winter, and it shows on his yearling weight. I expect this bull to really come on strong through the second half of winter on into spring and tip the scale back to where he was on pace to be for growth. Here’s a really high growth bull that has performed as well phenotypically as his EPDs projected. He had the second highest adjusted weaning weight, and followed that up with just as impressive of a mark at yearling. One of the larger ribeye scans in the entire sale as well. Hallmark F104 is a natural calf of one of our donors, Lakota W936. She is the power cow of our donor pen, and consistently makes them big, stout, and high performing.

The first of a handful of bulls to sell that were purchased as cow calf pairs from the Klein Red Angus dispersal in Burwell, NE. Very similar pedigrees in that cowherd to what we have been focusing on, but what hit me the hardest about that set of cows was the excellent udder structure across the board. This bull has a very strong maternal foundation with the combination of soldier and redman, but even just as important is the lineage back to the Faye 2212 cow. The entire Klein program was built around her for a reason. This bull should work on larger framed heifers.

Buyer hereby grants to Seller/Sale Manager a security interest in the livestock purchased to secure the payment of the purchase price, and Buyer further authorizes Seller/Sale Manager to file any necessary documents with any Secretary of State or other governmental entity necessary to perfect such security interest.

ANNOUNCMENTS: Any errors or changes in information contained in the catalog will be announced from the block and such announcements shall take precedence over the information contained herein.

BIDDING: Any disputes or challenges regarding bids or tie bids will be settled by the Auctioneer and the decision will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK: All animals are the owner’s risk prior to their sale and become property of the purchaser as soon as declared sold by the auctioneer.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A certificate of registry for each animal will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense.

FROZEN LOTS: Buyer is to pay for all shipping and handling of embryos and/or semen. Embryos and/or semen will be shipped COD or a separate account established at the storage facility within 30 days of sufficient payment unless other arrangements are made with Sale Manager and/or Seller.

HEALTH: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment. Interstate health papers prepared by an accredited veterinarian will be furnished on each animal sold. Arrangements for International Shipment should be made with the Sale Manager prior to the auction. All efforts for the exportation of cattle can be arranged through the Sale Manager.

BREEDING GUARANTEE: All animals are guaranteed by the seller as outlined in the Suggested Sale Terms of the Red Angus Association of America including but not limited to points 8 and 10.

LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The seller, auction facility, and sale manager assume no liability for any accidents that may occur. Neither does the seller, auction facility, or sale manager assume liability for the loss or injury to livestock due to theft, mysterious disappearance, sickness, improper handling or Act of God. It is to be clearly understood that the sale manager and its representatives act only as a medium between the buyer and the seller. They are not responsible in any way for the failure on the part of the buyer and seller to live up to their obligations or for the truth of any warranties or representation, express or implied. Neither does the sale manager assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of monies between parties. Any legal action, that may in exceptional cases be taken, must be between the buyer and the seller. This catalog has been prepared by the Sale Manager from pedigrees and information supplied by sources deemed reliable, however, the sale manager will in no way guarantee the pedigree, percentages of the animals selling, or data included in this catalog. Any exceptions taken are between the buyer and the seller.

CONTRACT: The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding upon both. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction.

LIVESTOCK INSURANCE: Please tell the sales clerk when you check out if you would like to insure your purchases, and they will record the necessary information. All purchases are the buyer’s responsibility as soon as they are sold.
