I gotta tell ya’ fellow Red Angus breeders, this is a really good set of cows! Now, that being said, I’m going to put one thought in your mind before you think that I’m just boasting, or puffing my own chest out about my own cattle. I’m not telling you they are the best set of cattle I’ve seen in my travels across Canada (and I do get around!), I will tell you they are just as good as any of the best cows out there. The biggest thing I want to stress, though, is this... This set of cows, bred heifers and heifer calves is for sale on the 14th of October, those others are not and therein lies the difference. Your cows will be at home in your pastures doing their thing – our set of Brylor Ranch winter calvers... they will be at Stauffer Ranches awaiting your appraisal later that afternoon at the Heritage Inn in Pincher Creek on the big screen! These are being offered for sale this day and, believe me folks, this day offers a lot of gifts to the Red Angus community!

The COWS are all A.I.’ed to Assassin and cleaned up to Next Step. The HEIFERS are A.I.’ed to Tommy Jack and cleaned up with Rough Cut. The HEIFER CALVES... well, let’s just leave it at they have to be seen to be appreciated in the flesh!

This is it... this is all of ‘em in our winter calving program. I’m not inclined to use the word, “dispersal”, of a group but it sort of is...

Take advantage of this situation we are in right now. There is a lot of man hours in this group stretching back a lot of years. The cattle will be on display at Stauffers Test Facility north of Pincher Creek and Bryan & Sherry Mackenzie - Deloy, Erica, Rowan & Isabella steaks and the beer cooler will be the order Friday night and Saturday at noon. Then onto the videos... Big Mark’s TV’s at the Heritage Inn at 3:00 p.m. on October 14th.

Here is a refreshingly new A.I. sire that we own with Blairs and Timber Creek in Oklahoma. He is a former Grand Champion Bull at Fort Worth as a calf. His dam, a fabulous Mulberry daughter, was also a former Grand Champion at Fort Worth as a yearling heifer. We gave $40,000 U.S. for him and now we have his semen in Canada and have used him heavily in our program. He is so full of meat and length and profile it’s hard to fault him. He’s very much a calving ease sire and will throw some hair too. We are extremely excited to see his first calves.

Coupled up with the “D” heifers in this sale and I think calving season 2018 will be magical!! He’s for real!!

We sampled this excellent young A.I. sire pretty well last year, I’d say. He caught my eye because of his fresh, different pedigree and excellent length and profile. His first calves look sharp and crisp and certainliy calved well, mostly out of heifers.

Plans were to use him again this A.I. season but then we bought a bull, Assassin, and finally got the Tommy Jack semen into our country. I’ll readily admit now that I should have found a couple of head to use him on.

His only 100 straws sell at Red Round-up for the 2018 breeding season.

You talk about stepping out and securing a piece of your herds’ future! As promised, here is one of the most talked about young Red Angus bulls all spring long. We bought this bull to breed to our sale cattle and use him, we did! Except for the two year olds, all the cows in the sale were either A.I.’ed to this very fertile young stud, or exposed to him for a cycle. We also turned him into our summer calvers (23 head) for 42 days. I wasn’t going to sell any semen on him but within five minutes of Carey announcing Brylor on the $77,500 price tag in Moose Jaw that day, the phone rang for 24 hours straight!! Not kidding! We ended up moving nine packages saving three for this fall. The list of breeders paying serious coin to get to use him is impressive to say the least. I do believe here at Brylor we have a herd bull battery in these Reference Sires that is as good as any set of herd bulls anywhere. That’s a big statement, I know, but top to bottom these bulls are fresh, exciting, not overused and they are certainly looking the part so far. I traveled to Montana last spring (2016) with Dave Callaway and found this bull at Vic Wesphal’s. He needs to be seen in color because he’s got all the moving parts in all the right places – his feet, his color, his pedigree, his profile and his muscle. It’s all there and more...

His sire is a bull I’ve followed for a long time at Sonstegaards’ in Minnesota and liked what I had seen. Rumor has it old Navigator was supposed to have come to Canada to a prominent Southern Saskatchewan ranch.

“Next Step” knows how to breed large groups of cows, too, as he’s been used hard at Brylor. Come see him and these amazing heifer calves selling. He’s also a “Young Gun” at Red Round-up.

I had a standing order with our auctioneer, Mr. Brent Carey, for quite a few years that when he saw a New Trend daughter out there in a sale to just get her bought for us. They work well! 30X has together two maternal greats of the Red Angus breed in New Trend and Indeed. She should be in a donor program.

Here’s another big, strong, rock solid cow from Marcers. They had five cows in their herd that made me want to own them all and they included 52X, the dam to 15Z. Her Red Sim/Angus steer weighed 785 lbs. on September 5th. Don’t discount her because I decided to breed her to my Deeg Simmie bulls to produce half blood heifers. I breed some awfully good cows that way every year.

The Nikita cow family is awesome! 2N sold for $11,000 in the 2009 “Tradition With A Vision” Sale for 1/2 interest to Marcers’. Her daughter, 90U, also sold for $11,000 to Griffins’ in Iowa. The big downside, for us, to sell this group of cows on October 14th in Pincher Creek is to never see a cow like this hit her stride here. We just got her last fall from another amazing friend, Phil Birnie.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

THIS IS A VIDEO SALE – The cattle are

1. TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque at par, payable to the sale clerk on sale day unless otherwise previously arranged with the seller prior to the sale. No releases will be given until satisfactory settlement has been made. All monies are in Canadian Funds, other funds will be accepted at the current rate or exchange.

2. BIDS: Every animal entering the ring will be sold to the highest bidder.

3. DISPUTES: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matter will be final.

4. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Any changes from information in this catalogue will be announced from the auction block, such changes will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.

Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to any such announcements.

5. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

6. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal in the sale will carry registration papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after full total payment has been made.

7. BREEDERS GUARANTEE: (a) All animals sold are guaranteed breeders. (b) All bred females have been declared safe in calf by a qualified veterinarian and carry no further breeder guarantee. (c) All calendar year heifer calves are guaranteed open at time of sale. (d) Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within six months after date of sale, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying for a six month period to prove the animal a breeder. The seller, at his option, may either return the purchase price to the buyer or credit or replace the animal with another of equal value in full settlement and satisfaction of all claims. All complaints regarding breeding difficulties must be reported in writing by the buyer to the seller within time specified above and any animal retuned must be free from disease and in good health. Any calendar year heifer calf flushed, shown or exhibited by purchaser is no longer guaranteed a breeder under this paragraph #7. (e) Although we do our best to accurately identify the A.I. Services, IT DOES NOT, in any way, guarantee an A.I. sired calf.

8. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT: Brylor Ranch reserves the right to one successful flush on any female in the sale at Buyer’s convenience / Brylor Ranch’s expense. Exception: does not apply to any of the females denoted as 1/2 interest lots.

9. ACCIDENTS: Every precaution will be exercised to protect the safety and comfort of those attending the sale. Neither the owners, auctioneer, or any sale staff assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
