II. Recla(y)mation Having spent the first half of the semester performing material research, we applied what we learned and observed towards designing a simple pavilion. Using Plywood, oystercrete, cob, and mycelium we created a structure based off of the 6’x9’x12’ dimensions of a solitary confinement cell as a scale of reference. Instead of creating a space of solitude our focus was to use a new pallet of materials to create spaces of gathering.

III. THE OKRA PROJECT Communal Housing Collective Tulane University, New Orleans, LA ARCH 6022 Sprint 2023 Professor Jover, Margarita
The Okra Project is a proposed communal housing initiative created by local educators, community organizers, and individuals from the restaurant and service industry focused on improving sustainability, cultural education, and food justice. In this community, sustainability education takes is used to empower residents to make Eco-conscious choices. Some of the highlight features include communal gardens, professional kitchens for cooking demonstrations, and rooftop solar panels used to harness the Louisiana sunshine. Here, Food security is more than a buzzword; it’s a commitment manifested in shared kitchens where culinary creativity blooms, community dinners that bring us all to the table, and partnerships with local farmers ensuring everyone has access to fresh, local produce.

IV. The Library The Los Angeles Institute for Architecture and Design ARCH 201 Sprint 2022 Professor William Taylor
As information and resources are more regularly accessible via the Internet, local libraries have rethought what resources they could provide the communities they serve. This project is my attempt to showcase some of the many ways libraries can be re-imagined for the digital age. This “pocket library” has been designed specifically for digital media. Throughout you will find audio books, E-Readers, tablets, and a computer lab. It offers a variety of computer literacy classes as well as a plenty of digital workshops The playful, almost labyrinth like layout of the park in front invites visitors to wonder trough and enjoy all of the beautiful greenery.

Rule Set -The quote is arranged on a 16’x24’ plot -Each character occupies a 1’x1’ area -The start of each new sentence is left justified -Words that will not fit are right justified on the next row -After all punctuation a new row begins The brief for this project was to develop a 16 x 24 field for a roughly 3x3x3 building to be placed in. Our design was to be based on an ordering system of our own creation derived from a body of text. Because I chose to center my project around a library and text I wanted to explore how I could develop my form language using the braille alphabet which has a visual and tactile element that could add to the overall feel of the project.

V. DIGITAL MEDIA This course was our introduction to the digital tools and techniques used to visually communicate our design intents. Beginning with the basics of understanding orthographic and perspective drawings I began to explore a variety of styles and approaches through the observation and imitation of work from well established firms.

VI. PERSONAL WORKS Like many, my first woodworking project was out of necessity. Unable to find an existing product to fit my specific needs. I equipped myself with a couple saws and paint and began teaching myself everything I could get my hands on about woodworking. The following is a sample of my personal works through the years.

Doubling as and exercise in half lap joinery this bookshelf project experiments with geometry and shelving. While the left half has a familiar horizontal shelving layout, you can find a variety of boxes, and triangles nested within each other on the right. This created a more dynamic, but still operational arrangement

VII. PROFESSIONAL WORKS Years after completing my first carpentry project I still found myself completely enamored with the process of design and creation. I spent nights and weekends sketching out new project ideas and trying out new techniques... This was becoming more than a passing hobby. I took a leap of faith and moved to LA in search of a career and professional training.
