Director’s note ‘Anything can happen if you let it.’ This is definitely the tagline of the show! When embarking on this project we knew that creating the iconic show Mary Poppins Jr. would be a tall order. Mary and Bert are such well known characters, then there is the magic that is ingrained into almost every scene. I have been blown away by the commitment and professionalism from each and every actor in the show, they have taken on each challenge given to them with poise and grace. This show would not have been the spectacle it is today without the insane support from the art department and the students who have created everything you see on stage. They have worked tirelessly on every part of the show from the masterpiece of the London skyline backdrop to the magical kites to the bottle of Mrs Andrew’s Brimstone and Treacle. The students have also taken on major responsibilities within the management and running of the show with our backstage and stage management team being entirely made up of students. Chessington School performance group have outdone themselves with this timeless classic and have set an extremely high bar for future productions. I hope you enjoy the wonderful work they have created and absorb yourself in the magic of our ‘practically perfect’ rendition of Mary Poppins Jr.

Miss Jen Twomey

“I just wanted to thank you for the invitation to see your children’s production of Mary Poppins Jr. They were a real credit to you and the performances were absolutely wonderful. It was also so good to see such talented ex-Lovelace pupils in starring roles, many of who were in my class over the years! Please pass on my best wishes and good luck to all the children for the next few nights, I know they will do a fantastic job!” Mr Woodman Lovelace Primary School
