There are a number of important factors to consider when designing a new school, as Ahmed explains: “In the educational sector, the school curriculum and operator’s requirements are important factors that affect the design of a school. The type of education preferred will influence the type of spaces, circulation and distribution, both horizontally and vertically.The end users, in this case the students, are another major factor determining the study of volumes in a school. While it is true that students make up just 20% of our overall population, they are undoubtedly 100% the future of our world, a statement that Ahmed agrees with wholeheartedly: “We need schools that prepare young people for the future. With the progress that the world is making we need these minds to think creatively, critically, innovatively and independantly, yet with an ability to connect. I strongly believe that the spirit in schools needs a revolution. Our first step towards this is changing the focus, giving every gift an equal chance and encouraging collaboration in schools instead of competition.”

At NEB, they belive that there are ‘no boundaries’. The same applies to the design of its educational projects.

“We understand that every student has unique talents, dreams and aspirations. The world today has jobs and opportunities that didn’t exist 20 years ago. We work towards designing schools that do not set boundaries for these dreams and opportunities,” concludes Ahmed.
