REIMAGINED Al Khozama Management Company, the Kingdom’s leading developer and manager of luxurious commercial properties, has signed a substantial funding agreement with The National Commercial Bank (NCB) to provide an SAR 1.3 billion banking facility.

by His Highness Prince Bandar bin Saud bin Khalid, Chairman of Al Khozama Management Company, and Eng. Yasir AbuSuliman, Head of Structured Finance at NCB. “This investment will be a qualitative addition to our current assets and will support our return on investment, which is consistent with our vision and the development of Saudi Arabia,” His Highness Prince Bandar explained.

experience, helping it to stay at the forefront of the industry at a time when there is fierce competition in the market. “This investment will allow us to continue to provide an incomparable and distinguished offering that is consistent with all of the work we have carried out to date,” His Highness added.

Commenting on the agreement, AlSharif Khalid AlGhalib, NCB’s Head of Corporate Banking Group, said: “The National Commercial Bank has set a benchmark for the corporate finance industry and is committed to remaining at the forefront of this critical enterprise. Al Faisaliah District's MULTI-BILLION RIYAL REDEVELOPMENT PLAN

A

l Khozama Management Company has announced the appointment of the largest global contractors Salini Impregilo for the SAR 1.1 billion Al Faisaliah District Redevelopment Project to upgrade Al Khozama’s retail, hospitality and commercial assets.

The project will commence with the SAR 200 million refurbishment of the renowned Al Faisaliah Mall, home to some of the world’s leading designer brands and a substantial uplift of the north side of Al Faisaliah Hotel worth SAR 400 million. The remaining funds will be purposed to demolish the adjacent Seyahiah and Al Khozama Centre buildings paving the way for the construction of the mall’s new luxury extension, the new modern lavish five-star Al Khozama Hotel and generous inteligiant subterranean parking systems.

“We are very excited to begin this substantial Redevelopment project with the introduction of the innovative designs of the new Al Faisaliah Mall to the Riyadh retail landscape” expressed Mr. Abdulaziz S Al Habib, President and CEO of Al Khozama Management Company.

Reflecting the world’s highest architectural standards and lifestyle trends, the new Al Faisaliah Mall extension will create the longest street retail façade in Riyadh and together with the new five-star Al Khozama Hotel will ensure the strongest presence on Olaya Road within the central business district.

Al Faisaliah Mall has been and remains the beacon of the Kingdom’s retail industry’s modernisation, bringing exclusive, luxury and premium global brands under one roof, and creating an unprecedented retail experience in the Kingdom.

Designed by award winning architects Gensler, the redevelopment plans for the mall promises a larger and richer luxury shopping experience adding over 16,000 sqm of high tech, contemporary and interactive retail spaces for shoppers and tenants alike.

The new Al Faisaliah Mall will see a significant overhaul and expansion of the current mall’s internal and external space. The overall project timeline is estimated to take three years to complete. From this total, the retail mall will be remodeled and upgraded over phases spanning a 16 month time period. Renovations will start at the mall’s Olaya Road entrance and a gradual demolition of the Seyahiah building on Olaya Road will also take place.

Importantly, throughout the duration of works, the mall will remain operational.

Commenting on this announcement Pietro Salini, CEO of Salini Impregilo stated; “We are honoured to be awarded this contract. There will be other parties involved in this project with Salini Impregilo holding a primary position in this project.

istrict Magazine: We’ve heard about the exciting new mall renovations for Al Faisaliah Mall, what will those renovations consist of?

Michael Flanagan: Our aim is to use best in class architects and designers to deliver an exciting and luxurious new mall concept to the very heart of Riyadh and its communities. Shoppers will soon see the introduction of a full range of retail.

District Magazine: What can the visitors of Al Faisaliah Mall expect during those renovations?

Michael Flanagan: There is absolutely no reason for visitors and shoppers to feel inconvenienced or troubled at anytime during their visit nor should the renovations prevent them from visiting Al Faisaliah mall during the renovation process. The mall will be fully operational and stores will remain open. The majority of the common/public area works will be done at nighttime, so shoppers wouldn’t be affected.

District Magazine: Do you think that the mall renovations will further enhance the current district? If so, how?

Michael Flanagan: By bringing first to market concepts, Michelin star F&B, and full concept flagship stores to our District, thus ensuring that we have exclusive brands where possible.

The renovated Al Faisaliah Mall will redefine luxury, creating a new retail and hospitality-based experience that has never been seen before in the Kingdom.

District Magazine: What encouraged the idea of a mall renovation for Al Faisaliah Mall and what goal/ goals does Al Khozama wish to achieve with the mall renovations?

Michael Flanagan: Al Khozama has always been a transformational catalyst in the City’s Development, having developed the iconic Al Faisaliah Tower.

Essentially, we are looking to create a unique destination for visitors and shoppers by engaging with key luxury brands. We want to deliver to the residents of Riyadh a world-class retail, dining and entertainment experience like no other in Saudi.

The renovation of Al Faisaliah Mall is not just about creating more retail space; it’s about reinventing the customer experience in alignment with our legacy of creating firsts.

We have always been a leader and pioneer in the Kingdom, from the very first commercial office tower (Al Khariyah) to the Kingdom’s first skyscraper, Al Faisaliah Tower. We have transformed the city’s landscape and will continue to do so.

District Magazine: Roughly, how many new stores can we expect to open in the new mall?

Michael Flanagan: There will be an additional 150 new stores that will open in the new mall extension.

District Magazine: When can visitors expect the completed and renovated mall?

Michael Flanagan: We are targeting to complete our mall renovation and be open by the end of Q1 2018.

District Magazine: What will be the main differences between the current Al Faisaliah Mall and the renovated Al Faisaliah Mall?

Michael Flanagan: Our objective is to completely upgrade the look and feel of the mall by introducing more luxurious components, with a focus on best in class F&B, luxury and premium aspirational retail brands and additional services to enhance the consumer experience, such as valet parking, customer drop-off and VIP concierge.

District Magazine: We believe that there will be a metro station just outside the Al Faisaliah Mall once it’s renovated, do you think this will attract new visitors?

Michael Flanagan: The new station will be underground and will have direct access points from street level into the Mall. We will have full control of this access to the metro and will ensure that we have the right demographic coming into the mall at all times. The Olaya and the Olaya Street upgrade will be key for the city and will ensure that the Olaya is the main retail destination in Riyadh.

District Magazine: Is there anything else you would like to add or inform our readers about regarding the Al Faisaliah Mall renovation?

Michael Flanagan: Our redevelopment and uplift of the Al Faisaliah Mall will provide more interactive engagement with our local communities and will help create more opportunities for Saudi talents to thrive.

THE KING FAISAL FOUNDATION

T

he sons and daughters of the late King Faisal Bin Abdulaziz, who passed away in 1975, founded the King Faisal Foundation (KFF) in 1976, which is a philanthropic organisation with an international reach aspiring to preserve and perpetuate the legacy of King Faisal. The King Faisal Foundation is known for pushing boundaries to empower future generations, and in doing so it has gained impressive global outreach. This follows in the footsteps of King Faisal, who was committed to continuous advancement, but without losing sight of the nation’s traditions. Since it’s founding, the King Faisal Foundation began offering scholarships and socio-developmental projects all over the world, known as philanthropic projects. The foundation invested hundreds of millions of Saudi Riyals to establish its pillar programmes, which are King Faisal International Prize, King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies, King Faisal School, Alfaisal University, and Effat University, as well as other philanthropic projects; 72 projects in Arab countries, 60 in Asia, 44 in Africa, 11 in Europe and 10 in North America. The majority of the investments (SAR 947 million) were devoted to building research centres.

Other projects included building schools, universities, mosques, medical centres and providing tools for building the infrastructure that help Islamic societies reach a better standard of living.

Today, the King Faisal Foundation continues to offer scholarships for students to pursue their studies in the three educational institutions that function under its umbrella. To date, the KFF has invested more than 80 million Saudi Riyals in these scholarships. The scholarships were offered to all kinds of majors and different levels of education, from primary school to post-doctoral studies. Prior to the establishment of these three institutions, the foundation used to send students from different nationalities to pursue their studies in the top universities abroad.

THE KING FAISAL INTERNATIONAL PRIZE 2017

Launched in 1977 and awarded for the first time in 1979, the King Faisal International Prize is awarded annually by The King Faisal Foundation (KFF). The King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) honours exceptional achievements in five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language & Literature, Medicine, and Science. At a press conference held on 10th January 2017 at Al-Khozama Centre Conference Hall, the names of the most recent winners of the KFIP were announced by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah Region, CEO of King Faisal Foundation and Chairman of King Faisal International Prize Board.

Following the names announcement ceremony, the 2017 winners photos and names were projected on the Khariyah Tower on King Fahad Road. The King Faisal Foundation invited the winners along with their families to Riyadh to attend the award ceremony on the 4th of April and receive their awards from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

KFIP is highly regarded both nationally and internationally. Laureates of the KFIP also won other prestigious prizes including the Nobel Prize, Gairdner Foundation International Award, Lasker Basic Medical Research Award, and British Royal Medals amongst many others.

King Faisal International Prize in Service to Islam: KING SALMAN BIN ABDULAZIZ AL SAUD Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was awarded the prestigious prize in its 39th session for his outstanding services to Islam and Muslims, and his unfaltering commitment to serving the two Holy Mosques and the pilgrims to these holy sites. The selection committee of the prize observed that the King has shown allegiance to the Prophet’s Sira (Life of Prophet Mohammed), and supported the Historic Atlas of the Prophet's Sira and its implementation by King Abdulaziz Dara (Foundation for Research and Archives).

King Salman has ensured dedicated efforts to unite Arabs and Muslims in the face of daunting challenges currently unfolding in the Arab and Muslim worlds. This year’s King Faisal International Prize in Science (Physics) was awarded to two nominees; Professor Daniel Loss from Switzerland, professor of the Department of Physics, University of Basel and Director of Basel Centre for Quantum Computing and Quantum Coherence, University of Basel, Switzerland; and Professor Laurens Molenkamp from The Netherlands, Professor and Head, MBE Unit, University of Wurzburg, Germany. Professor Daniel Loss received the award for his discovery of a concept for development of a quantum computer based on the intrinsic angular momentum of electrons. Loss has further refined his theory over recent years and established a completely new field of research. His work has inspired many important experimental programs. Loss’ contributions open the door to powerful spintronic quantum computers with exceptional speed and storage capacity.

PROFESSOR LAURENS MOLENKAMP UNIVERSITY OF WURZBURG, GERMANY

Professor Laurens Molenkamp was honoured for his work in the experimental field of spintronics. In 2007, he achieved the first experimental verification of the ‘quantum spin Hall effect’. Until then, it was only a theoretical prediction related to the ‘quantum Hall effect’ (a major discovery in solid-state physics from the 1980s). Unlike this effect, however, the quantum spin Hall effect occurs without an external magnetic field! Instead it uses a strong spin-orbit coupling. Professor Laurens Molenkamp has significantly contributed to the experimental field of spintronics. His work includes groundbreaking methods for creating and manipulating spin-polarized charge-carrier states in semiconductors, with the potential to develop magnetic storage devices

SAUDI’S PROPOSAL FOR LIFE AFTER OIL On 25th April 2016 in Al Faisaliah District, history was in the making as Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud summarised his ‘Saudi Vision 2030’, a blueprint for the kingdom to reduce its reliance on oil.

he press conference featured the 84-page document, which has already been approved by the Custodian of the two holy mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud and features a myriad of schemes and instructions, including plans to sell a small percentage of Aramco, the creation of the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, alongside plans to increase income from nonoil based industries.

THE BREAKDOWN Saudi Arabia recognises the need to diversify its economy. Here are some of the highlights from the document, which target core elements of its economic, political and social structure.

The Challenges for a Non-Oil Economy: At the core of this movement is the need to extract itself from an economy that is dependent on its oil production. Vision 2030 underscores the kingdom’s plans to raise non-oil government revenue to 1 trillion riyals by 2030. Saudi’s ambition to become one of the top 15 largest economies in the world was also noted.

The kingdom’s plan-of-action? To make this vision a reality, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Deputy Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, recommends developing “assets that have not been exploited”, incorporating taxes on the sale of tobacco, soda, and luxury items, in addition to structural reforms. The spirit of entrepreneurialism is to be rewarded, and Saudi aims to generate 15% more economic output from small/medium enterprises. This is expected to add further diversification to the kingdom’s exports. As with most elements in this doctrine, Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud reiterates that these reforms “will take years” but expects “high growth” after their implementation.

Public Investment Fund: It’s been confirmed that King Abdullah Financial District will be the headquarters for the largest sovereign wealth fund, which will hold state assets including Aramco and substantial real estate investments. In addition to these core assets, there “are nonAramco assets that will come under the fund with a value that could reach $300 billion, in addition to the current value of the fund which is about $200 billion," stated the Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. "In this way we will have a Public Investment Fund with a size exceeding $2 trillion, approaching $3 trillion."

Aramco IPO: Aramco’s $2 trillion initial public offering will potentially be the worlds biggest. In June, at the OPEC meeting in Vienna, Saudi minister for energy, industry and mineral resources, Khalid Al Falih, said Aramco would require “extensive rewiring" before a small portion – less than 5% – of the commercially “delineated" part of the company would be listed, probably in 2018.

STEPPING STONES TOWARDS AUTONOMY Military: When discussing military expenditure, Saudi’s “aim is to localise over 50% of military equipment spending,” announced the Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and to “develop less complex industries such as those providing spare parts, armoured vehicles and basic ammunition.”

Rather than relying on external parties to fill their defence industries, Saudi Arabia seeks to meet more of its military needs domestically, and cut the costs. “When I enter a Saudi military base, the floor is tiled with marble, the walls are decorated and the finishing is five stars. Enter a base in the United States and you can see the pipes in the ceiling, the floor is bare, no marble and no carpets. It’s made of cement. Practical” said the Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman al Saud in an interview with Saudi-owned Arabiya television. He then went on to admit that

the Kingdom has a “problem with military spending.”

Saudi Arabia has one of the biggest military budgets in the world, and was the leading Middle East spender on arms in 2015 at $46 billion. It allocated 213 billion riyals ($57 billion) in its 2016 budget for defense spending. “We are the third- or fourth-largest in terms of military spending in the world, yet our army is ranked in the twenties. There is a problem," the prince said.

FOREIGN INVESTMENT To leave a larger footprint on the world, Saudi Arabia will redesign its image in order to attract direct foreign investment – aiming to increase its economic output to almost 6% by 2030. To accomplish its goal, the Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud notes that the kingdom will need to revise its policies and transform the region into “an advanced financial and capital market open to the world.” Tactics include continued investment and trading in stock markets, and the listing of private Saudi companies and “state-owned enterprises, including Aramco.”

Society: One of the pillars of the Vision 2030 document is its aim to accentuate the rich, unique qualities of the kingdom while ironing out some of the recognised challenges of the Kingdom. This includes lowering unemployment among the Saudi nationals (from 11.6% to 7%), increasing home-ownership rates to 52% by 2020, and increasing women’s participation in the work place from 22% to 30%. On that note, the Deputy Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud says, “without a doubt a woman’s work is very important, and she is half of the community and must be effective and productive.”

All in all, what is chief to Vision 2030 is the exercise of including and developing all assets. "We are targeting tourists in different areas: history, culture and also in some of the natural locations we think have extraordinary value, especially in the Red Sea," said the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

‫خطة عمل المملكة‬

‫وعىل الرغم من أن عملية تقييم التفاصيل الدقيقة ال‬ ‫تزال قيد التنفيذ‪ ،‬إال أن سمو ويل ويل العهد قد أوضح‬ ‫أن "اإلكتتاب العام األويل ألرامكو" سيحظى بالشفافية‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف أن "أرامكو ستلتزم باإلفصاح عن عائداتها بشكل‬ ‫ربع سنوي‪ ،‬وستخضع تلك العملية للمراقبة من قبل‬ ‫جميع البنوك السعودية‪ ،‬واملحللني‪ ،‬والخرباء السعوديني‪،‬‬ ‫إضافة إىل جميع البنوك الدولية ومراكز األبحاث العاملية"‪.‬‬

‫العبور نحو االستقاللية‬ ‫اإلنفاق العسكري‪:‬‬

‫عند الحديث عن اإلنفاق العسكري‪ ،‬أعلن سمو ويل ويل‬ ‫العهد أن اململكة العربية السعودية "تهدف لتوطني‬ ‫ما يزيد عىل (‪ )٪٥٠‬من اإلنفاق العسكري‪ ،‬ولقد بدأنا‬ ‫بـتطوير بعض الصناعات األقل تعقيدا ً من قطع غيار‬ ‫ومدرعات وذخائر"‪.‬‬

‫لتحويل هذه الرؤية إىل واقع ملموس‪ ،‬أوىص ويل ويل‬ ‫العهد‪ ،‬سمو األمري محمد بن سلامن بإستغالل املقومات‬ ‫املوجودة يف البالد وتطويرها‪ ،‬والتي تتمثل يف تطبيق‬ ‫الرضائب عىل مبيعات التبغ‪ ،‬والصودا‪ ،‬وسلع الرفاهية‪،‬‬ ‫إضافة إىل اإلصالحات الهيكلية‪ .‬كام سيتم تحفيز االستثامر‬ ‫وبناء املشاريع اإلنتاجية املتنوعة‪ ،‬حيث تهدف اململكة‬ ‫إىل زيادة الناتج اإلقتصادي من املرشوعات الصغرية‬ ‫واملتوسطة بنسبة ‪ ٪١٥‬هذا من شأنه إضفاء املزيد من‬ ‫التنوع عىل صادرات اململكة‪ .‬وأشار سموه إىل أن هذه‬ ‫اإلصالحات "تستغرق سنوات"‪ ،‬لكنه توقع "درجة منو‬ ‫عالية" بعد تنفيذها‪.‬‬

‫صندوق اإلستثمارات العامة‪:‬‬

‫األوسط يف ‪ ٢٠١٥‬مبرصوفات وصلت إىل ما يزيد عن ‪٤٦‬‬ ‫مليار دوالر‪ .‬وخصصت ‪ ٢١٣‬مليار ريال سعودي (‪ ٥7‬مليار‬ ‫دوالر) يف ميزانية عام ‪ ٢٠١٦‬للمرصوفات العسكرية‪ .‬وأشار‬ ‫سموه إىل أن اململكة تحتل املكانة الثالثة أو الرابعة عىل‬ ‫العامل يف اإلنفاق العسكري‪ ،‬ومع ذلك يظل ترتيب جيشنا‬ ‫يف املراكز العرشينية‪ ،‬وقال‪" :‬هناك مشكلة بالتأكيد"‪.‬‬

‫االكتتاب العام األولي ألرامكو‪:‬‬

‫سيكون اإلكتتاب العام األويل ألرامكو والبالغ ‪ ٢‬تريليون‬ ‫دوالر هو األضخم عاملياً‪ .‬ويف هذا الصدد قال وزير الطاقة‬ ‫والصناعة والرثوة املعدنية السعودي‪ ،‬املهندس خالد‬ ‫الفالح‪ ،‬أن أرامكو تحتاج إىل "إعادة صياغة شاملة" قبل‬ ‫طرح نسبة صغرية ‪ -‬أقل من ‪ - ٪٥‬من قيمتها التجارية‬ ‫لإلكتتاب يف ‪.٢٠١8‬‬

‫من املؤكد أن مركز امللك عبدالله املايل سيكون املقر‬ ‫الرسمي ألكرب صندوق سيادي استثامري يسيطر عىل أصول‬ ‫حكومية تضم رشكة أرامكو والعديد من االستثامرات‬ ‫الحكومية العقارية الضخمة‪ .‬فضالً عن تلك األصول‬ ‫الجوهرية‪ ،‬أضاف سمو ويل ويل العهد‪" :‬هناك األصول‬ ‫التي ال تتبع ألرامكو والتي ستخضع للصندوق بقيمة‬

‫فبدالً من االعتامد عىل أطراف خارجية الستكامل‬ ‫الصناعات الدفاعية‪ ،‬تسعى اململكة لتوفري احتياجاتها‬ ‫العسكرية محلياً والحد من تكلفتها‪ .‬وأضاف سموه يف‬ ‫مقابلة مع محطة تلفزيون السعودية‪" :‬عندما أدخل‬ ‫لقاعدة عسكرية سعودية أجد األرضية من الرخام‪،‬‬ ‫والجدران عليها دهانات وديكورات عىل أفخم مستوى‪.‬‬ ‫لكن أُنظر ماذا ترى يف القواعد العسكرية األمريكية‪،‬‬ ‫هناك األنابيب املكشوفة يف األسقف‪ ،‬واألرضية غري مغطاة‬ ‫بالرخام أو السجاد‪ .‬كل يشء فيها مصنوع من األسمنت‪.‬‬ ‫كل يشء هناك عميل"‪ .‬واستطرد سموه قائالً أن اململكة‬ ‫تعاين من "مشكلة يف اإلنفاق العسكري"‪.‬‬

‫االستثامر األجنبي‬ ‫ستعيد اململكة صياغة صورتها لجذب املزيد من‬ ‫االستثامرات األجنبية املبارشة ‪ -‬زيادة تقدر عائداتها‬ ‫االقتصادية بحوايل ‪ ٪٦‬بحلول عام ‪ ٢٠٣٠‬لترتك اثرا اكرب‬ ‫عىل العامل‪ .‬ويف هذا السياق يقول سموه‪" :‬من أجل أن‬ ‫تحقق اململكة أهدافها‪ ،‬ال بد من مراجعة سياساتها‬ ‫وتحويل املنطقة إىل سوق مايل رأساميل متقدم ومفتوح‬ ‫عىل العامل"‪ .‬تضم مخططات وأساليب مواصلة اإلستثامر‬ ‫والتجارة يف أسواق املال‪ ،‬وإدراج الرشكات السعودية‬ ‫الخاصة "واملشاريع اململوكة للدولة مبا فيها أرامكو"‪.‬‬

‫تسلم الجائزة يف فرع الطب لهذا العام الربوفيسور‬ ‫الياباين تادامتسو كيشيموتو‪ ،‬من مركز فرونتري‬ ‫ألبحاث املناعة‪ ،‬من جامعة أوساكا اليابان‪ .‬تم‬ ‫تكريم بروفيسور كيشيموتو بهذه الجاهزة لدوره‬ ‫البارز يف اكتشاف وتطوير عالج بيولوجي جديد‬ ‫وناجع ألمراض املناعة الذاتية‪.‬‬

‫ُمنحت جائزة امللك فيصل العاملية يف العلوم‬ ‫(الفيزياء) هذا العام مناصفة الثنني من املرشحني‪:‬‬ ‫بروفيسور دانيال لوس من سويرسا‪ ،‬أستاذ قسم‬ ‫الفيزياء بجامعة بازل ومدير مركز بازل لعلم‬ ‫الحواسب الكوانتية‪ ،‬جامعة بازل بسويرسا؛‬ ‫وبروفيسور لورينس مولينكامب من هولندا‪ ،‬أستاذ‬ ‫ورئيس وحدة الفيزياء النظرية بجامعة يوزبريج‬ ‫بأملانيا‪ .‬تلقى بروفيسور دانيال لوس الجائزة‬ ‫الكتشافه مفهوم تطوير الحاسب الكوانتي القائم‬ ‫عىل ديناميكية دوران اإللكرتونات‪ .‬طور لوس من‬ ‫نظريته يف السنوات األخرية وأسس مجاالً جديدا ً‬ ‫للبحث‪ ،‬وكانت أعامله مصدر إلهام للكثري من الربامج‬ ‫التجريبية الهامة‪ .‬فإسهاماته تفتح الباب للتوصل‬ ‫إىل حواسيب كوانتية متناهية الرسعة والقدرة عىل‬ ‫تخزين البيانات باستخدام خاصية دوران اإللكرتونات‬ ‫املحجوزة يف النقاط الكوانتية‪.‬‬

‫بروفيسور لورينس مولينكامب‬ ‫جامعة يوزبيرج ‪ ،‬ألمانيا‬

‫أما بروفيسور لورينس مولينكامب فتم تكرميه لعمله‬ ‫يف املجال التجريبي لعلم دوران اإللكرتونات‪ .‬يف عام‬ ‫‪ ،٢٠٠7‬توصل إىل أول تأكيد تجريبي لـ"تأثري دوران‬ ‫هول الكوانتي" الذي كان حتى هذا الوقت مجرد تنبؤ‬ ‫نظري (تأثري دوران هول كان من أكرب اإلكتشافات‬ ‫يف علم فيزياء الحالة الصلبة يف مثانينات القرن‬ ‫املايض)‪ .‬كام ط َّور طرائق جديدة البتكار حاالت لحمل‬ ‫الشحنات املستقطبة بواسطة دوران اإللكرتونات‬ ‫ومعالجتها‪ ،‬وقد تضمنت أعامله اكتشاف طرق‬ ‫مبتكرة لحقن الشحنات املستقطبة بواسطة الدوران‬ ‫املوصالت‪ ،‬مع إمكانية استخدام وسائل‬ ‫يف اشباه ِّ‬ ‫تخزين ممغنطة‪.‬‬

‫أسس أبناء وبنات امللك الراحل فيصل بن عبدالعزيز الذي انتقل إىل رحمة الله‬ ‫يف ‪ ١٩7٥‬مؤسسة امللك فيصل عام ‪ ،١٩7٦‬والتي تعترب منظمة خريية دولية تطمح‬ ‫إىل الحفاظ عىل إرث امللك فيصل وتخليده عىل مر العصور‪ .‬تشتهر مؤسسة امللك‬ ‫فيصل بقدرتها عىل اجتياز حدود ما ميكن تقدميه ألجيال املستقبل‪ ،‬مام مكنها من‬ ‫احتالل مكانة دولية مؤثرة‪ .‬يأيت هذا إقتفا ًء ألثر امللك فيصل رحمه الله الذي كان‬ ‫يطمح دامئاً اىل التقدم مع الحفاظ عىل تقاليد األمة‪ .‬منذ إنشائها ‪ ،‬قامت مؤسسة‬ ‫امللك فيصل بتقديم املنح الدراسية واملرشوعات اإلجتامعية‪-‬التنموية يف كل أرجاء‬ ‫العامل يف صورة مرشوعات خريية‪ .‬وقد استثمرت املؤسسة مئات املاليني من الرياالت‬ ‫السعودية إلقامة برامجها األساسية وهي‪ :‬جائزة امللك فيصل العاملية‪ ،‬مركز امللك‬ ‫فيصل للبحوث والدراسات اإلسالمية‪ ،‬مدارس امللك فيصل‪ ،‬جامعة الفيصل‪ ،‬وجامعة‬ ‫عفت‪ ،‬إضافة إىل املرشوعات الخريية األخرى مثل ‪ 7٢‬مرشوعاً يف الدول العربية‪٦٠ ،‬‬ ‫يف قارة آسيا‪ ٤٤ ،‬يف أفريقيا‪ ١١ ،‬يف أوروبا‪ ،‬و‪ ١٠‬مرشوعات يف أمريكا الشاملية‪ .‬معظم‬ ‫هذه اإلستثامرات (‪ ٩٤7‬مليون ريال) تم تخصيصها لبناء مراكز األبحاث‪ .‬وضمت‬ ‫املرشوعات األخرى تشييد املدارس‪ ،‬والجامعات‪ ،‬واملساجد‪ ،‬واملراكز الطبية‪ ،‬وتوفري‬ ‫أدوات إقامة البنية التحتية ملساعدة املجتمعات اإلسالمية للوصول إىل مستويات‬ ‫معيشية أفضل‪.‬‬

‫تأسست جائزة امللك فيصل العاملية عام ‪ ،١٩77‬و ُمنحت ألول مرة يف عام ‪١٩7٩‬‬ ‫وال زالت متُ نح سنوياً من قبل مؤسسة امللك فيصل‪ .‬هذه الجائزة متُ نح لإلنجازات‬ ‫العظيمة يف ‪ ٥‬مجاالت‪ :‬خدمة اإلسالم‪ ،‬الدراسات اإلسالمية‪ ،‬اللغة العربية واألدب‪،‬‬ ‫الطب‪ ،‬العلوم‪ .‬يف املؤمتر الصحفي الذي ُعقد بتاريخ ‪ ١٠‬يناير ‪ ٢٠١7‬بقاعة املؤمترات‬ ‫مبركز الخزامي‪ ،‬أُعلن صاحب السمو املليك األمري خالد الفيصل مستشار خادم‬ ‫الحرمني الرشيفني‪ ،‬أمري منطقة مكة املكرمة‪ ،‬الرئيس التنفيذي ملؤسسة امللك فيصل‬ ‫الخريية ورئيس هيئة جائزة امللك فيصل العاملية أسامء الفائزين بجائزة امللك‬ ‫فيصل العاملية‪ .‬بعد إعالن أسامء الفائزين‪ُ ،‬عرضت صور وأسامء الفائزين لعام‬ ‫‪ ٢٠١7‬عىل أبراج الخريية بطريق امللك فهد‪ .‬فيام بعد‪ ،‬دعت مؤسسة امللك فيصل‬ ‫الفائزين وأرسهم إىل الرياض لحضور حفل توزيع الجوائز يف الرابع من أبريل الستالم‬ ‫جوائزهم من خادم الحرمني الرشيفني‪.‬‬

‫‪ 200‬مليون ريال لتحديث مركز الفيصلية تضع مفاهيم جديدة يف صناعة التسوق‬ ‫والرفاهية‬

‫أعلنت رشكة الخزامى لإلدارة عن اختيار رشكة ساليني إمربيغيللو اإليطالية‪( ،‬إحدى أكرب الرشكات العاملية‬ ‫املتخصصة يف املقاوالت والبنية التحتية)‪ ،‬لتطوير مرشوع الفيصلية وأصولها بقيمة ‪١،١‬مليار ريال سعودي‬ ‫والتي تشمل املركز التجاري والفنادق واملكاتب التجارية‪ .‬ويأيت اإلعالن عن هذا العقد كمرحلة اسرتاتيجية‬ ‫أخرى تقوم بها رشكة الخزامى لإلدارة لتحقيق رؤيتها الحديثة التي تسعى من خاللها ألن تكون الجهة الرائدة‬ ‫واملطورة واملتخصصة يف إدارة األمالك والفنادق واملراكز التجارية الفاخرة يف اململكة وخارجها‪.‬‬ ‫ومن املقرر أن يشهد مرشوع الفيصلية عمليات تطوير بدءا من مركز الفيصلية بقيمة ‪ ٢٠٠‬مليون ريال‬ ‫سعودي‪ ،‬لتوسعة املساحات الداخلية والخارجية الحالية‪ ،‬بدءا من مساحات املركز املواجهة لشارع العليا العام‪،‬‬ ‫وذلك بعد االنتهاء من واجهة هارڤي نيكلز املواجهة لطريق امللك فهد‪ ،‬كام سيتم العمل عىل هدم " مبنى‬ ‫السياحية " املجاور ملركز الفيصلية ومركز الخزامى لتمهيد الطريق إلعادة بناء فندق الخزامى الجديد الفاخر‬ ‫ذو الخمسة نجوم‪ ،‬إضافة إىل عمليات التوسعة التي سوف تضيف مساحة تتجاوز ‪ ١٦‬ألف مرت مربع إىل‬ ‫مساحة مركز الفيصلية الحايل‪ ،‬ليصبح أكرب واجهة تسوق وسط مدينة الرياض عىل اإلطالق‪ ،‬واملدعوم مبواقف‬ ‫سفلية ذكية للسيارات‪.‬‬
