The purpose of the Walk for Kids was to promote and allow others to understand children with growth disorders and other related genetic diseases that are rare. Additionally, at the event they also have fun booths for kids to spend time at and booths to give people more information about this situation

The kids growth for walk was a really fun event. We got a lot of free stuff before the actual walk like a bag full of supplies and water bottles. The path for the walk was filled with cherry blossom trees which were very nice for pictures and we passed the globe. After the walk was finished we were given sandwiches from subway along with some snacks.

You also had the option of going to eat from the food carts. A raffle was also held to win some prizes. There was a performance which some people danced to and the weather was nice. I am happy that I made the decision to go to this event. ~ Simar Ahluwalia

THE VISION WALK April 13, 2019

On Saturday, April 13, the 13th annual New York Vision Walk took place in Manhattan Central Park Naumburg Bandshell. Fortunately, I had the chance to participate in this annual walk, which was extremely meaningful to me knowing that it plays a role in supporting the idea of curing blindness, with my fellow peers from THHS and other high schools. We walked in a circle around Central Park, with some people holding up signs and cheering on the way, and the experience was truly an unforgettable one. Overall, it was a great day! ~Angela Chen

The Vision Walk is an event that promotes the idea of fighting for blindness. At this event many people shared their stories about knowing or being someone with a vision problem. We also walked around Central Park to promote this problem. Additionally, this event has many other mini events that happened to help raise awareness.

Spring For this event volunteers went to the SpringField Park to help out clean up the environment. Some things they did was pull out the weeds anround the plants and pick up trash that was harming the environment.

For the Springfield Park Cleanup, it was a pretty cold day and I had underestimated mother nature and the weather. However, that was made up when we began to volunteer and help out the Kiwanis Club of Jamaica. I was given the opportunity to meet other key clubbers that were not a part of our division and a chance to work ongside them. We helped clean up the weed that was around the plants and painted the benches that needed to be redone. It was nice to connect with other people nvolved in this organization by cleaning up the park. Even though I barely knew half he people I was working with, they were all friendly and we all had the same goal in common for that day. All in all, I enjoyed this event and connected with other people which made this day warmer than it started out with. ~ Sharon Li

Apr The March for Babies event was my first Key Club event this year and I’m so glad that I could attend and have such a great experience. I thought that the march was very well organized with lots of refreshments, entertainment, and energy. All of the attendees were very enthusiastic; the numerous signs, chants, and noisemakers made the walk very entertaining and let the marchers know that everyone there was passionate about the cause.

The March for Babies route was also very scenic with paths through Central Park and the streets of Manhattan, making the event incorporates all parts of New York City’s landscape. All in all, I hope that I get to come back next year to have the same wonderful experience that I had this year. ~ Victoria Siebor

At this event, the volunteers went to promote the idea of babies who were born with health problems. At this event the volunteers were walking around central park and passed by many lanscapes while promoting and allowing others to know about the health of mothers and their babies.
