Editor's Note Hey Key Clubbies!!

The end of the school year is closer than ever, and while summer is right around the corner, I’m sure that all everyone’s been feeling lately is the frenzied atmosphere of exam season. AP season has certainly been quite hectic and stress-inducing, but now that it’s over I hope everyone has found some way to de-stress and enjoy themselves (before Regents exam season comes and takes away our free time again…). This month has been packed with awesome events, fundraisers, and collaborations with other clubs. On the topic of collaborations, I hope everyone’s looking forward to our Field Day event this June! Hosted with six other schools, the event includes face painting, a water balloon toss, tug of war, and so much more! Can’t wait to see you all there :) Yours in Service,

Hello Key Clubbies <3 With AP season in full blast, it has been a hectic month but I am sure that all of you guys did well on your exams! In honor of AAPI month, we hosted a 520 Desserts Fundraiser with BNCHS & QHSS and donated $150 towards AAPI Civic Engagement Funds. The AAPI Heritage Parade and Taste of Tribeca were other engaging events that allowed volunteers to connect with other Key Clubbers and serve our community. During the end of the month, Division 8 held their first divisional which provided updates and announcements from our Lieutenant Governor, YiFei. And lastly, thank you to everyone who came to our Pool Fundraiser and made it a huge hit with special guests coming from other divisions and notable board members of the New York District. I hope that you guys continue to show your passion and dedication as we wrap up the school year. Stay cool and safe!

Asian Pacific Am Heritage Parade Parad Sunday May 15

Better Chinatown hosted its 1st Asian Pacific American Heritage Parade on May 15th.

Volunteers set up tents, tables, chairs, carried dragons, marched in the parade, and cheered their hearts out! All volunteers carried Asian countries’ banners and flags, and had a great time at the parade.

The AAPI parade was a fun experience for me as I was able to help out with the marching dragon which was pretty exciting! Setting up was definitely a bit difficult, but everyone helped around so it made it easier. It was nice seeing all the AAPI representation and we got lunch so that was pretty nice too :)) I do think I’d volunteer at an event like this again!

Now in its 26th year, Taste of Tribeca brings together outdoor food festival and public school fundraiser. This dishes from restaurants including Bubby’s Tribeca, Duane P Tribeca Grill, and Walker’s, along with live music, family-fri Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the Taste of Tribeca event!! My volunteer experience made me appreciate the hard work of those who work in the food/restaurant industry, a million times more. I made a lot of memories and despite the heat, I had a great time with my fellow Key Club members.

In appreciation of AAPI month, BNCHSKC X THHSKC X QHSSKC collaborated to host a 520 Desserts Fundraiser on May 22nd. The dessert spot had delicacies ranging from shaved ice to egg waffles and mango sticky rice to fill all your sweet cravings.

All profits made through this fundraiser were donated to AAPI Civic Engagement Fund, a nonprofit organization that aims to foster a culture of civic participation and empower Asian American and Pacific Islander communities!

Before the event, I had an out of city trip and I was o I debated heavily if I should ough, as the event was just cold ice cream matched just t weather, and the lively me feel extremely welcomed , what made this experience e was the schools we were d the staff. Billiards Fundr Monday May 30

Our Pool Fundraiser on Memorial Day was a great way to have fun and take a break after AP exams, where Key Clubbers played 8 ball with friends and had the chance to connect with other Key Clubbers outside of school. Even though some didn’t know how to play pool, the simple yet strategic game was enjoyable for everyone, and Key Club held a bake sale during the event so our members could have a quick snack as they played!

Charity

BHS X BNCHS X TH Volunteers will be raising money by walking or running, whether it be marching around the house, running stairs, or going for a jog. Each mile is equal to $0.25 donated to charity! All proceeds will go to Feeding America, a charity aimed to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all through partnerships with food banks, policymakers, and supporters.

This collaboration event displayed collective effort between 5 high schools to fundraise for “Feeding America,” a charity that strives to fight hunger in America. Knowing that I’m partaking in a good cause just by taking a short run was most certainly enjoyable!
