Editor's Note Hi Key Clubbies!! Welcome to my second newsletter of the service year! I hope everyone was able to unwind and have fun with some of the awesome events Key Club participated in throughout the month of April. As the end of the school year comes closer and closer, Key Club meetings have been one of the most consistent parts of my week – every Thursday afternoon as I watch our members fill the auditorium I’m reminded of how much this club means to me. I hope everyone has had the chance to discover their passion for community service throughout these past few months, and I can’t wait to show you guys what awesome things we have planned for May! Hey Key Clubbers! April has been a busy but fun month with Spring Break and our numerous events. Most notably, the NYSoM Easter Eggstravaganza had a huge turnout where volunteers dressed as Easter characters and assisted with the various activities and games available. Other events like the Jefferson Gardens’ Volunteer Session and Assemble Food Packages For The Community left memorable impressions on our members as we worked towards improving our community one step at a time. Personally, the Vision Walk was my favorite as I was able to volunteer at the Kid’s Zone where I made new friends with the magician and the children while coloring and blowing bubbles with them. As we transition into our new service year, make sure to stay updated with our division as well as the New York District of Key Club. Keep up the amazing work to fulfill our district and club goals! ARDENS' ESSION
On April 9th Key Club joined Concrete Safaris to assist in garden activities. Volunteer duties included pruning, planting, preparing flower beds, and more! Afterwards, volunteers had the chance to order from one of East Harlem’s amazing eateries for lunch.

Vision Saturday
The Foundation Fighting Blindness hosted their 16th Annual New York Vision Walk this year! The organization needed volunteers to help with coordination the day of – handing out snacks and water, helping people along the walk route, and several other fun activities! It was a fun day of volunteering to help raise funds to find cures and treatments for retinal and blinding diseases.

The Vision Walk was a really enjoyable event to support a charitable cause. My friends and I volunteered at the food service area where we served participants coffee and snacks. One interesting thing that happened was when it suddenly started pouring and everyone started running for their lives to our volunteer tents. Aside from the rain, it was a fun experience and I would certainly volunteer again! Yuheng Lin, THHS '23

Key Clubbers volunteered for the 2022 NYCRUNS Queens Half Marathon & 5K and received a springtime tour of Flushing Meadows Park. The traffic-free course winded through the park, with great views of all the World's Fair sites and of course FMP in all its glory. Volunteers assisted NYCRUNS staff with fluid stations, handing out bibs, t-shirts, medals and bagels!

ATHON & 5K
April 10th
The NYC Queens Half Run Marathon was a very interesting experience. Despite it being so early in the morning and being so cold, it was fun watching the people and assisting as a volunteer. There were many different tasks available, and I assisted in giving food to the runners. I would definitely attend an event like this again in the future. Ryan Young, THHS '24

NYSOM EAST EGGSTRAVAG Saturday April 16th On Saturday, April 16th, NYSoM held their 10th annual NYSoM Easter Eggstravaganza in Manhattan. They needed volunteers throughout the day to help manage the annual NYSoM Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Egg painting activities, and other Easterrelated activities!

TER GANZA NYSoM’s 2022 Easter Eggstravaganza was one of my first in-person Key Club events! At first, it took some time to get things started as the abundance of volunteers filled up activity stations; however, as children and parents came, everyone became busy with fun Easterrelated tasks to help manage the event or even for them to enjoy themselves. I had an incredible time meeting other Key Clubbers and coincidentally bumped into some of my friends from Stuyvesant High School, which made the experience all the worthwhile. Billiards Fun Sunday April 24
Hosted by Benjamin N. Cardozo HS, the P money to go towards purchasing the pa upcoming Field Day event in June! The Prince Billiards Fundraiser hosted by Cardozo Key Club raised over $250 while attendees were able to enjoy a fun time playing 8 ball. Although it was my first time learning to play pool, I had an amazing experience with my friends and even participated in a President’s Pool Tournament (which Sherry and I lost lol). The fundraiser inspired me to host one for our own club in May and I look forward to raising plenty of funds through it! Erica Jin, THHS '23

Volunteers will be raising money by walking or running, whether it be marching around the house, running stairs, or going for a jog. Each mile is equal to $0.25 donated to charity! All proceeds will go to Feeding America, a charity aimed to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all through partnerships with food banks, policymakers, and supporters. 18

Charity Miles was a fun and rewarding virtual opportunity! This collaboration event displayed collective effort between 5 high schools to fundraise for “Feeding America,” a charity that strives to fight hunger in America.
