Fire & Safety Information Fire Emergency Procedures First, find two exits nearest your room.

Be sure they are unlocked and unblocked.

Then, count doors between your room and exits so you’ll have a reference point if it’s smoky.

If the fire is not in your room, leave if you can. First, feel your door. If it’s cool, open it slowly and go to the nearest exit. Crawl if smoke is present. Fresh air will be at the floor.

Take your key so you can go back if you can’t use your exits.

If your room door is hot, don’t open it.

Your room may be the safest place to be.

Seal all cracks with wet towels. Shut off fans and air conditioners. Signal at your window.

Call 911 and wait to be rescued.

If fire is in your room, get out and close the door. Once out, report the fire to the Front Desk.

Safety & Security Procedures Your safety and the security of your personal property are of the utmost concern to those of us who welcome you as our guest. We urge you to take advantage of the following suggestions.

Double Locks For additional security utilize the deadbolt provided on your door upon entering. This will prevent the door from being opened by a regular room key.

Keys Do safeguard your key. Be sure to leave it at the Front Desk upon departure. Do not leave it in your room or in the door. Do not give your key to others.

Admittance Do not admit persons to your room without first making identification. A “peep hole” is provided in your door for your convenience.

If there is any doubt about a person’s true identity, please contact the Front Desk.

Fire Please familiarize yourself with the location of the nearest fire-exit stairway. In the unlikely event of a fire, please move quickly but calmly to the stairs. Report fire or smoke to the Front Desk.

Tornado Emergency Procedures Tornados happen very quickly and without notice in many cases. It is our intention to keep our guests as informed as possible to changing weather conditions that can spawn tornado activity.

All local TV stations do a very good job of staying current with weather. Channels 3, 6 and 10.

A TORNADO WATCH means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes.

A TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN A TORNADO HAS ACTUALLY BEEN SIGHTED OR IS INDICATED ON RADAR as advised by National Weather Service or local authorities.

IN THE EVENT OF A WARNING OUR ALARM SYSTEM WILL BE SOUNDED 2 TIMES FOR 5 SECONDS. You should then proceed via stairwells to the 1st Level hallway between rooms 102 and 120. In extreme emergencies the bathroom in your guest room is a suggested location because it has no exposed glass and extra walls for support.

International Wolf Center Spend a morning, afternoon or all day with our live exhibit wolves and learn from experts about these fascinating social creatures. The International Wolf Center is fun for all ages. Experience the “Wolves & Humans” exhibit, kids’ programs, the movie theater, temporary exhibits, Wolf Den store, live programs in the auditorium and more. Watch our ambassador wolves up close through the glass and capture the moment on your camera.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Known as the “Canoe Capitol of the World,” the BWCAW has more than one-million acres of wilderness, including lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands. With more than 1,500 miles of water trails, the BWCAW invites you to explore the largest wilderness preserve east of the Rocky Mountains. Whether for day trips or multipleday trips, to limit the number of people entering into the BWCAW, the U.S. Forest Service requires permits, which may be obtained from resorts, outfitters and by contacting one of our area ranger stations. Because of this system, you might share a whole lake with no one but our state bird: the loon.
