Position Summary The employee in this position is directly responsible for operating equipment and performing various duties that involve the grounds maintenance of the parks, campgrounds, and open spaces within the town.

This employee is a respected member of an effective working team, dedicated to maintaining and improving our community and will serve the public with courtesy and respect. As an employee, this person shall establish and maintain a good working relationship with all departments. Sound judgement and discretion must be used when responding to inquiries regarding classified and confidential information.

Duties and Responsibilities  Maintain positive relations with employees and the public.  Grass maintenance, weed trimming, and flower beds  Maintain outdoor facilities for cleanliness  Operate hand, garden tools and implements  Assist in tree and hedge trimming  Maintain campground and picnic areas throughout the town  Planting and watering of trees  Small equipment maintenance as per operator manual and supervisor requirements  Assist facilities department when required Qualifications  Valid class 5 driver’s license  Experience with all types of lawn maintenance equipment  Experience operating riding lawnmowers  Large equipment operation, such as tractors, and skidsteers would be considered an asset  One-year direct experience in the operation of medium type mobile equipment.  Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.  Capable of working with minimum supervision and self-motivated.  Physically capable of performing work assigned.  Must have knowledge of Safety Standards and adhere to standards.

Working Conditions • •

Hours of work shall be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes a one-hour (unpaid) period for lunch and two 15 minute (paid) breaks.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and noise levels.

May be requested to work overtime and weekends as needed.
