SEVERANCE TOWN COUNCIL

Council Member

Stephen Gagliardi

I’m Stephen Gagliardi, your Town Council Member, and I’ll admit — I’ve been procrastinating a bit when it comes to sharing updates with our residents. But I’m excited to start giving you the inside scoop on what’s happening in and around Severance. Below are two quick highlights of local amenities that make our town special. As the Town of Severance's Great Western Trail representative, I invite all residents to go outside and enjoy the completed Great Western Trail. This trail is a 10.5-mile scenic rail-to-trail pathway that winds through Northern Colorado’s beautiful agricultural landscape. This historic route connects Windsor, Severance, and Eaton, offering a unique experience of natural beauty and local heritage. For Severance residents, the stretch near Roulard Lake features a stunning trestle bridge that is truly something to see and makes for a perfect outing. Trail distances include 2.4 miles from Boardwalk Park at Windsor Lake, County Road 19, 1.1 miles to Severance Middle School, 1.9 miles to the Severance Trailhead on CR 74, from there you are about 1 mile to the Roulard Lake Trestle and then 5 5 miles to the Eaton Trailhead on Cheyenne Avenue. Whether walking, running, or biking, the Great Western Trail offers a rewarding way to explore the region and enjoy the outdoors. Click here to find out more ---> https://www.gwtrail.com/

Just off of our Great Western Trail between E. Harmony (WCR 74) and WCR 72, I would like to highlight our partnership with the Loup Reservoir Company. Our partnership is providing an essential upgrade to the John Law Reservoir. Through this cooperative effort, the reservoir is being dredged to a depth of approximately 15 feet, significantly improving its water storage capacity and making it suitable for future fishing and recreational opportunities. The dredged material is being stored around the reservoir for now and will be removed by November, paving the way for the stocking of this reservoir with fish and creating a welcoming space for residents to enjoy This project demonstrates the power of local collaboration and our shared commitment to enhancing community resources for all.

Even in the midst of the constant hustle and bustle of modern life, I hope you’ll take a moment to step outside, slow down, and enjoy just a couple of the things Severance has to offer.
