If you would like to be added to the No Solicitors List please call Town Hall at 970-6861218 or email clerk@townofseverance.org and your address will be added.
Approved Solicitor Licenses for 2025: Smart Home Pros Inc. of Vivint LLC, products and services sold are burglar alarm systems, with home automation equipment.
All approved Solicitors will have a copy of the Solicitors permit and the 'no contact' list. Citizens may ask to see the Permit as proof of being able to solicit in the Town of Severance. If someone who is not approved comes to your house, please call the Severance Police Dept at 970-350-9600 (non-emergency dispatch). Solicitors must have a copy of their approved permit with them. Sec. 6-1-150. - Solicitors, canvassers, door-to-door salespersons.
Severance Municipal Code 6-1-150, it states that anyone can leave door hangers/flyers without a Solicitor license, so long as the residence doesn’t have: no trespassing signage no solicitations signage Canvassers without a license: cannot make contact with resident cannot contact homes on the no solicitation list cannot contact homes with no trespassing and/or no solicitations signage
Charitable, religious, or political solicitations or the solicitation of newspaper or magazine subscriptions are exempt from obtaining a license but must follow the above signage or no solicitation list.
Solicitor licenses are applied for annually and expire on Dec. 31 of the year they obtain the license. All employees MUST go through a town background check and be approved.

Sizzling Through Summer at the SeveranceLibrary
It’s hard to believe that 15 months have passed since the Severance Library opened its doors in April 2024. Highlights from the past year include our Grand Opening celebration and last summer’s kickoff event for our Summer Adventure Program, which drew over 700 attendees. This summer, more than 1,000 community members joined us for the Color Run and Foam Party, launching our 2025 "Color Our World" summer program!

CODE COMPLIANCE AT-A-GLANCE
EIGHT INCHES MAX ON WEEDS AND GRASSES
Grasses and weeds must be kept at a height of 8' or less in yards and alleys and 9' or less in fields and undeveloped lots in Town of Severance
RUBBISH IN OUTDOOR SPACES
Properties must be maintained in a neat, tidy and methodical manner The accumulation of rubbish is not permitted Rubbish includes but is not limited to items discarded or unusable or susceptible to weather as well as branches, yard waste, tires and appliances Outdoor storage includes items not normally stored outdoors in a residential area
NO BURNING
ANIMAL DEFECATION AND LEASH LAWS
Any owner taking the animal upon any public way or other public property in the town shall immediately remove or cause to be removed, and lawfully dispose of all fecal matter left on such property by the animal All animals shall be kept under control No person who has assumed responsibility for an animal shall allow such animal to run at large within the town
It is unlawful for a person to build, maintain, attend or use an open fire, a portable outdoor fireplace, or recreational fire, or to conduct open burning, in the Town, including public and private lands, for purposes of removing and disposing of trash, junk, rubbish, litter, or yard waste.

It shall be unlawful for a person to place any graffiti upon any public or private property
USE OF AIR COMPRESSION BREAK SYSTEM
NOISE
It is unlawful for a person to make, cause to be made, or to permit any unreasonable noise upon any premises or within any vehicle owned, possessed or operated by such person
CONSTRUCTION NOISE
Outdoor construction activities are allowed during the following time periods:
On weekdays, between 7:00am and 7:00pm or dusk
On Saturday and Sunday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm
LITTERING
It is unlawful for any person to throw or deposit or cause or permit to be thrown or deposited upon any street, alley, sidewalk, or public property or place in the Town, any garbage, trash, litter or junk, or hazardous material, or other offensive matter
TRAILER AND TRUCK PARKING
No commercial vehicle or commercial trailer, motor vehicle exceeding 25’, combination of trailer or travel trailer exceeding 25’, or any detached trailer or travel trailer shall be parked on the street unless the vehicle is being used to render services If so, the time cannot exceed 48 hours
Any recreational vehicle (motor home), travel trailer, trailer, or truck weighing in excess of 20,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW) shall be parked on the street except for a period of not more than 48 hours when loading and unloading, and not more than ten 48-hour periods in any calendar year
It is unlawful and shall constitute a nuisance for the operator of a motor vehicle equipped with an engine compression brake device to use such device while operating the vehicle within the Town limits Call NonEmergency Dispatch at 970-350-9600
PARK THE RIGHT WAY
All vehicles must be parked parallel to the curb with the passenger side to the curb not more than 12” from the curb
INOPERABLE VEHICLES NOT ALLOWED
An inoperable motor vehicle is any vehicle not displaying a current license plate and validation sticker, or is not operational due to flat tires, missing parts or damage Inoperable vehicles may be stores on your property as long as they are screened from view Car covers are not sufficient for screening day
ABANDONED VEHICLES NOT ALLOWED
If you must leave your vehicle unattended on any roadway, leave a note of your intentions with a phone number in the windshield, or contact the Severance Police Department and advise them of your intentions.
Weld County Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey
Weld County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) and needs your input! Over the coming months, the HMP will reassess natural hazard risks to people and infrastructure across the County.
Weld County Emergency Management is asking residents to share feedback to help shape the 2025 HMP Update, which aims to develop strategies for reducing future disaster impacts. Your participation is essential.

Active Development Applications
Northgate Lake Final Plat
Northgate Lake is located north of Harmony Road and east of CR 21/Teller Street. A Final Plat has been submitted and is currently under review The development is on 315 acres and is planned for a mix of single-family, multi-family, commercial, a school site, and open space.
Black Hollow Solar (BHS)
Black Hollow Solar is a 1,400-acre large-scale solar facility annexed into the Town and approved as a Use by Special Review in 2022. This property is located east of WCR 19, west of WCR 23, north of WCR 86, and slightly south of WCR 94. Phase 1, consisting of approximately 150 MWh (12,380 strings), has now been energized. A permit for the second phase, approximately 107 MWh (9,338 strings), was issued May 6, 2025.
Bower North
Staff is reviewing an application for the annexation and zoning of 159 acres to Rural Residential and Suburban Perimeter zoning. The property is located south of Hunters Crossing and west of CR 22. The development proposes a mixture of single-family homes on estate lots and smaller lots, along with multi-family housing that includes townhomes and attached units which would be reviewed at the time of a future preliminary plat submittal. The applicant held a neighborhood meeting at the Severance Library on March 17, 2025, to present their concept plan to residents near the proposed development. The Planning Commission recommended approval to Town Council on June 18, 2025. The project is scheduled for a Public Hearing for final review of the annexation and zoning in front of the Town Council on July 8, 2025.
Cordero Estates Annexation/Zoning
An application for Annexation and Zoning has been received and is being reviewed for substantial compliance per State Statute. The property is located south of Belmont Farms along CR 80 and a ½ mile east of CR 23. The development proposes 35 Rural Residential lots on 119 acres. A public hearing for annexation eligibility will be held in front of the Town Council on August 26, 2025.
WinDance Preliminary Plat
WinDance is located north of Highway 392, east of CR21, west of CR23, and south of CR70. The development area is 168 acres; 99 acres are slated for approximately 569 single-family residential lots; 34 acres are reserved for open space. The Preliminary Plat is currently under staff review.
Platte
Valley Veterinary Clinic Site Plan
A site plan application for 335 West 4th Avenue, located in the Scotch Pine Business Center, is currently under staff review The proposed development consists of a two-story 7856 square foot building with parking and will access onto Blue Spruce Drive and Mahogany Way.
Buffalo Creek Annexation/Zoning
Buffalo Creek is approximately 270 acres south of WCR 78 and east of Lathim Parkway (aka WCR 13, LCR 1, Colorado Boulevard). They are proposing 510 single-family lots and 140 duplex residential lots on 102 acres with approximately 121 acres of open space. Staff is reviewing an application for a Preliminary Plat.

The Planning Commission is an advisory body that makes recommendations to the Town Council on land use and development issues. They play a key role in guiding the Town's growth and development by reviewing development proposals, zoning changes, and other related land use applications.
