FROM COUNCIL MEMBER: Dave Bruen COUNCIL CORNER

ced?

Over the past few months, several of us on the council have noticed an encouraging trend – people are paying closer attention to the information they see posted on social media and, when a post appears that doesn’t line up with the facts, community members are stepping in — offering the correct information or suggesting that neighbors reach out directly to the town for clarification.

This kind of engagement shows that transparency isn’t just a value we talk about at meetings; it’s becoming part of our everyday conversations. By working together to share accurate information, we strengthen trust and ensure that decisions are made with clarity and confidence.

My thanks to all those who continue to actively participate — whether in person or online! A commitment to truth and transparency in the community makes Severance stronger As we move forward, I hope that we can keep building on this positive momentum.

Every time you attend a meeting, ask a question, or help clarify information for a neighbor, you’re contributing to a culture of openness and accountability. Together, we’re shaping a community where facts matter and everyone’s voice has weight.

Severance thrives when we, the residents, are informed, engaged, and willing to support one another. Whether it’s correcting a rumor, sharing resources, or simply encouraging a friend to get involved, these small actions add up to a big impact. Let’s continue to celebrate our progress in 2026 and take pride in the fact that we are building not just a town, but a stronger, more connected community.

My best wishes to you and your loved ones this holiday season Merry Christmas and

Happy New Year!

NEW & IMPROVED PARKS

Thank you for your patience over the last few months as we worked to upgrade several of our Community Parks. We’re excited to share that the new Play-On! Playground at Karen Suman Park is now open and ready for play and is located at 1108 Pinon Pine Drive in the Timber Ridge subdivision at Timber Ridge Parkway and Pinon Pine Drive.

This playground was designed as a project of excellence, built to support best practices in youth fitness through activities like sliding, swinging, spinning, climbing, brachiating, and balancing. Every feature encourages movement, creativity, and healthy development.

We invite you to stop by and enjoy a space created for adventure, activity, and fun!

The moment all dog owners have been waiting for has arrived: the Dog Park upgrades are officially complete! The park now features a designated small/shy dog area, giving our more timid pups a comfortable space to play. New play equipment has also been installed to encourage exercise and enrichment for all dogs.

A brand-new water fountain will be added soon and will be available for use during the warmer months, helping to keep pets hydrated throughout the season. In addition, the ground material has been replaced with a new, paw-friendly surface designed to be gentler and less harsh for dogs.

We invite you and your four-legged companions to stop by and enjoy the improved space!

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Weather Ready Community

The National Weather Service and the Town of Severance want everyone to be part of a Weather-Ready Nation. With the return of winter, Colorado receives a variety of hazards in the form of snow, wind chill, high winds, and avalanches. Are you winter weather-ready? Now is the time to ensure you know how to stay safe when winter weather arrives.

Snow in Colorado is essential to the farmers, the ski areas, and for filling up reservoirs. However, winter storms often bring heavy snow, bitterly cold air, high winds, low visibility, and slick roads. This can lead to dangerous travel conditions and other life-threatening situations, such as avalanches and very frigid wind chill temperatures.
