AQUATICS GROUP SWIM LESSONS Prior to registration, please visit www.ParkerRec.com/SwimLessons for a detailed look at our Starfish Aquatics Institute swim lesson program. Choose your preferred day and time; in the first class of each session, participants will be separated by their skill-level benchmarks and developmental readiness. Each class is 30 minutes. Instructors vary by session. Group lessons cannot be made up nor prorated due to missed classes.

STARFISH AQUATICS INSTITUTE GROUP SWIM LESSONS The Starfish Swimming program offers courses with age-appropriate activities that focus on the development of core water safety and aquatic skill competencies. Students first learn functional self-survival skills, then learn the correct swimming stroke technique by building upon what they already know. SWIM SCHOOL STARBABIES

6 months to 2 years with an adult The StarBabies course introduces infants and toddlers to the water in a fun and loving environment, while training parents and caregivers in water safety and drowning prevention. This course focuses on comfort in the water and does not provide swim technique instruction nor emphasis on self-rescue, at this level.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SWIM LESSON CLASS

• If the child is 6 months to 2 years, register for StarBabies.

• If the participant, 3 years and older, CANNOT swim comfortably with their face in the water, across the deep end of the pool, register for Swim School.

• If the participant, age 3 to 12 years, CAN swim comfortably with rotary breathing, across the deep end of the pool, register for Swim Stroke School.

SWIM SCHOOL

3 years and older The Swim School program develops a foundation of swimming and safety skills with a focus on self-rescue. Students work toward development of the five core swimming competencies or stages, using age-appropriate learning activities. Participants progress through the stages at individual rates.

CARA SWIM TEAM

6 to 18 years The Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) Swim Team is designed to be a program with a strong recreational format for the non-ranked, non-sanctioned participant. Swimmers who are interested in participating in CARA Swim must have working knowledge of all four major strokes--butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle. Two of the strokes, swimmers must swim a total of one length (25 yards). The other two strokes, swimmers must swim from the wall to the flags (7 yards). Swimmers participate in two practices per week. All registered participants must attend swim assessments. Only swimmers who are registered will be assessed.

All ages Join Parker Recreation as an official host of the MURPH Challenge fitness event, created by Navy SEAL Michael P. Murphy, and completed annually in honor of fallen comrades. Gear up for a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and another 1-mile run. A modified version of the workout will also be provided to accommodate all-skill levels. 3.5 to 6 years Look out Betty Crocker! Join us for a fun-filled cooking class where this new generation of chefs will help prepare nutritious dishes. 4 to 8 years In this half-day camp, become the Science Matters Superhero dedicated to fun and saving the Earth.

Design your own cuddly side kick, make art from the sun and create a yummy treat at the same time.

We’ll create a germinator that makes measuring plants a snap and design your own hide-a-rock.

Then enter our Glow Lab to explore all things glowy and creepy, discover alchemy and make a golden penny. You’ll smile from ear to ear at this carnival of fun.

We have a 24-year history of providing youth and adults the opportunity to explore dance in a non-competitive environment with teachers who are invested in the personal growth and self-esteem of each student. Our dancers have the unique experience of performing on the PACE Center mainstage in our end of semester performance (some classes do not participate in this performance and are described as such).
