MCKINNEY DANCE BAND NEW DATE: Saturday, February 22 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Please RSVP Join us in turning the Senior Center into a Big Band Dance Hall! The McKinney Dance Band is shaking things up for us. They are a community-based, 16 piece big band performing dance standards. Bring a dish and your toe-tapping shoes.

NATIONAL MAKE A FRIEND DAY Tuesday, February 11. Each month we will be choosing one of the crazy National Days to celebrate. For February, we have chosen National Make a Friend Day. We will be playing games to meet new friends during the February 14 Your Heart is Premier event. Check out the board for all the other crazy National Days.

DOCUMENT PARTY FOR ITALY TRIP Tuesday, February 18 at 11 a.m. Our Collette rep will be here to give us details and answer questions to get us prepared for a trip of a lifetime.

YOUR HEART IS PREMIER Friday, February 14 at 11:30 a.m. - Please RSVP. Premier Wellness Center is doing free blood pressure checks and putting together some great games for us to play. Come have fun and show how big of a heart you have and make a friend.

AARP SMART DRIVER CLASS Friday, February 21 at 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. - Please RSVP This course is one four-hour class and is designed for individuals 50 and over. Not for ticket dismissal. It is not necessary to be a member of AARP to participate and there are no exams. Fees are: $15 AARP MEMBERS; $20 NON-MEMBERS paid day of class to instructor.

LUNCH AND LEARN: ARTHRITIS Thursday, March 5 at 11 a.m. - Please RSVP Marci Lowe, FNP, with Regenesys Physical Medicine will be on hand to educate you on arthritis and answer your questions.

BASIC LINE DANCING Thursdays, February 6 and 13 at 9 to 10 a.m. We are starting the new year with an extra chance to learn line dancing. Leah is holding a special session in February to get the very basics down. Save the dates.


MOVIES! February 4 at 2 p.m.– Harriet PG 13 (2h 5 min) The incredible true story of one of America's greatest heroes, Harriet Tubman. From her escape from slavery to the dangerous missions she led, setting free hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad. February 18 at 2 p.m.– Playing with Fire PG (1h 36 min) An old-fashioned fire superintendent and his crew of smokejumpers find themselves in over their heads after they rescue three siblings in the path of a wildfire, but are forced to babysit the unruly and unpredictable youngsters while they try to locate their parents.

SENIOR LUNCHEON Tuesday, February 25 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, Eating at noon. Menu: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and rolls. Main dish is provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Show up early to make sure you get a good seat.

BIRTHDAY SOCIAL Monday, February 10 at 1 p.m. Join us for birthday cake and ice cream as we celebrate February birthdays and meet some amazing seniors. Create your own ice cream sundae with a slice of birthday cake.

REGULAR MONTHLY PROGRAMMING - FITNESS Walk & Talk: Monday – Friday at 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Come and join a fun group of seniors as they walk each morning. We walk in the gym in the Recreation Center for safety and comfort. Walk Slim Video: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4 p.m. Come in and join this high energy walking video. It is both inspiring and fun. Dress comfortably and wear your walking shoes. Yoga for Seniors: Every Monday at 9 a.m. and Thursday at 3 p.m. This program will encompass centering, breathing, and breaking down the postures. The yoga postures taught will include sitting, standing, lying down, balance, stretching, and final relaxation. Fitness Class: Strength, Core, & Balance Class: Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. Join us for this high energy work out. This class will put you through an advanced workout at the Recreation Center, which is located next to the Senior Center. You must have a Senior Center or Recreation Center membership to attend. Zumba: Wednesdays 10 a.m. at the Recreation Center. Shimmy, shake, and sweat. Enjoy this high energy class, and be prepared to move and have lots of fun! Classes held at the Recreation Center. Chair Exercise: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:30 a.m. This Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program stretches, strengthens, and tones muscles in a no-impact exercise class. If you have arthritis or just need to start a regular program, this free class is the place for you. This is an ongoing class that may be joined at any time.


Line Dancing: Every Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. Learn new dance patterns to all kinds of great music. Lots of fun and good for the body as well as the brain!! Chair Volleyball: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. Please join us in the Gym at the Recreation Center. More fun than you can possibly stand - while seated! Come enjoy this fun-filled game played with a beach ball. Chair volleyball is great for upper body mobility and joint flexibility. It enhances muscle tone, reflexes, hand-to-eye coordination, and endurance. Rules are similar to regular volleyball except we keep “cheeks on the chair”! Tai Chi for Arthritis and Balance: The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program is designed to improve the quality of life for people with arthritis using Sun Style Tai Chi. This style includes agile steps and exercises that may improve mobility, breathing, and relaxation. Level 1: Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. This is a one-month beginner class and may be joined on the first Monday or Wednesday of each month. Level 2: Mondays and Wednesdays at 3 p.m. Class requirements: Must know all of the first set and the second set of movements and be familiar with the third set of movements. This class strengthens your knowledge of all three sets of movements, as well as deepens the understanding of the Tai Chi philosophy. Instructor approval required for class. 73 Form: Wednesdays at 2 p.m. Class requirements: Advanced movement and a more challenging set of forms. Instructor approval required for class. No walk-ins allowed for student safety.

REGULAR MONTHLY PROGRAMMING - ARTS & CRAFTS Art Workshop: Tuesdays, February 11 and 25 at 1 p.m. This program is designed to introduce you to different art techniques and mediums. It also strives to help you express yourself and keep your creative juices flowing. Scrapbooking: Wednesdays, February 5, 19, and 26 at 1 p.m. Bring your pictures, glue, and embellishments and create memories that will be forever cherished. Lively Little Elm Ladies Fidget Quilts: Tuesday, February 4 and 19 at 9 a.m. Lively Little Elm Ladies is our name; community service is our game! We create items for multiple charities. All willing hands are welcome. An opportunity is here for everybody. No skills are required. Crochet & Knitting: Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Whether you want to learn or already know how, join us for crocheting and knitting. Bring your own supplies, or we have some for you.

REGULAR MONTHLY PROGRAMMING - CARDS & GAMES Card Party: Fridays at noon. A fun-loving group of card players invites you to join them for their Friday card game. Group meets at noon in the Craft Room. The program will not meet on Friday, February 21. Bunco: Tuesday, February 11 at 1 p.m. Bunco is a game of luck and laughs. Please sign up at the front desk if you are interested. Light lunch is provided. Must RSVP.


Friday Bingo: Every Friday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Plus check out our Saturday Bingo on October 12. Cards will be sold for $1 each from 1-1:30 p.m. The game will begin at 1:30 p.m., and no cards will be sold after the game begins. Cash prizes, so don’t miss out on the fun! Volunteer callers needed. No Bingo will be on Friday, October 4. Saturday Bingo. Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 a.m. Join us for Bingo. Cards will be sold for $1 each from 10:30-11 a.m. The game will begin at 11 a.m. and no cards will be sold after the game begins. All proceeds from the sale of the cards will be used for the prizes. Cash prizes, so don’t miss out on the fun! Chicken Foot: Thursdays at noon. Chicken Foot is a domino game whose object is to accumulate as few points as possible over the 13 games. The player with the lowest total score is the winner. It’s an easy and fun game to learn. Mah Jongg: Mondays and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. Mah Jongg is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a certain degree of chance. Challenge your skills and mind. Pinochle: Thursdays at 11 a.m. Want to join a new group of card players? Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. Each hand is played in three phases: bidding, melds, and tricks. Bridge Playing: Mondays at 9 a.m. Join this fun and friendly group. No partners necessary. New players are welcome! Game Day: Canasta every Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Join a game of Hand & Foot or start a new game.

REGULAR MONTHLY PROGRAMMING - OTHER ChemoCare Bags: Tuesday, February 25 at 1 p.m. Lend a helping hand by helping assemble ChemoCare bags to be distributed to brighten and lighten the load being felt by those going through chemotherapy. Don’t forget to buy some raffle tickets at the luncheon. Genealogy for Beginners: Wednesday, February 12 at noon. Want to pass on your family’s history to future generations? Come learn about genealogy and become fascinated with your family tree. Instructor: Duana Blakey.
