PAYMENT INFO Online registrations require credit card use and a one time $2 nonrefundable convenience fee will be applied. Phone registrations are not subject to the convenience fee.

Cheques are payable to the Town of Grimsby and must be dated the day of registration. NSF Cheques are subject to a $25 administrative fee and require immediate correction for the space to be held.

Please observe the following skate rules to ensure a fun experience for everyone: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult Public skates are supervised by staff, but direct supervision of children is not provided Properly fitted, CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for all patrons Strollers and baby carriers are not permitted on the ice Skates are required on the ice Sticks and pucks are not permitted during public skating A full list of public skating rules is also posted at the rink.

Public skating is a great recreational outing for a family or group of friends. It’s active, it’s fun, and it’s social! Our public skates are open to all ages and skating abilities.

A public skating time for young ones who are just learning to skate. Sticks and pucks are not permitted.

Skate aides are available. Strollers are permitted for this skate, parent/caregiver must also go on the ice. Helmets required. Drop-in program (no pre-registration required).

Preschool Skating Lessons Your little one is ready to lace up a pair of skates, and we have the perfect place for you to do that! Our preschool skating program offers a fun, casual skating environment that will get children skating on their own with a great big smile. The program incorporates games and songs. One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Strollers are permitted during this program, skate aids will be available as needed.

For children who are not yet comfortable skating and want to improve their skills! This program focuses on the basics of skating, incorporating skill development, fun and games. It is preferred that participants have been on skates a few times before the classes. Coach Gail has taught many Grimsby children how to skate, come and see why her classes continue to fill! Adult Recreation Skating

Join in, whenever you can, with our noon hour hockey pick up program. Always a different group of people, always a lot of fun. This is a drop in shinny program that is open to anyone 16 years of age and older. Full protective equipment is required.

An adults only drop-in time. A great chance to be active and brush up on your skating! This is a skating program only, sticks and pucks are not permitted. Helmets are strongly recommended.

SPORTBALL

PEACH KING CENTRE

Sportball provides non-competitive sports instruction for children ages 16 months to 7 years. We want kids to develop physical literacy and a life-long love of movement and sport. We place our emphasis on competence and confidence building, socialization and overall fun.

If we asked one of our Sportball parents to dream up their child's ultimate class, it would probably end up looking a lot like our star program, Multi-Sport. Multi-sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with new skills from a different sport each class. Please note Parent and Child Multi-Sport requires an adult to participate in each class.

Roll, jump, balance, run & fun! This program works on gross motor development, balance, agility to develop well rounded physical skills. Ages: 7 - 12 years old Fee: $125 (8 weeks) Location: Carnegie Hall Time: 6:15 - 7:15pm Dates: Starts Wednesday Sept. 20 Join Creative Bug as we conduct 8 weeks of STEAM energy learning about motors and how electricity is conducted using potatoes, magnets, LEDs, and more! Each engineer will take home a kit they can use to continue to explore electricity with.

A variety of instructors offering a class that focuses on muscle concentration, breathing and posture while strength training, balancing and increasing the heart rate with movements. Exercises are performed both sitting and standing using the chair for support. This class is for participants who are looking for a gentle approach back into and towards fitness. This is a gentle to mainly moderate class and does not include floor/mat work. The class offers a variety of instructors and exercises while focusing on cardio, strength, balance and flexibility. Join Zandra, our highly experienced Line Dance instructor for a fun filled class with guided instruction on the movements and feel confident when you perform the steps to music. This class is a must try and all fitness levels welcome.

Join Mackenzie, our highly experienced Fitness/Wellness Instructor in a class offering deep relaxing stretches. This class will focus on each part of the body’s need for alignment and length. We have mats and props to assist.

With a small scale class ratio the focus will be on you building the fundamentals of resistance training. It is best suited for beginners or individuals looking to rebuild their strength training routine with emphasis on form and understanding muscles. This class will specifically utilize free weights, body bars and levels of resistance bands.

A unique workout program for new mothers, fathers, or grandparents that uses the stroller as a fitness apparatus to get back into shape after having a baby. Each class will have a themed workout, such as; Strength, Yoga and Total body conditioning and a variety of specialized instructors. It is recommended for newborns to 18 months.

Happy Hearts Day: Tuesday and Thursday Time: 9:45am - 11:15am Location: Peach King Centre A “doctor approved “cardiac exercise program for people who want to improve heart health.

This program operates twice weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays for a duration of 90 minutes. It begins with a warm-up followed by concurrent strength training in the weight room and group functional fitness in the adjacent studio. The program ends with a group cool down and stretching. Before participating in the program we require each individual to complete our intake and waiver and provide a doctor’s referral form.

Your doctor may have this form, if not it can be picked up at the Community Services office.

YOUTH SAFETY COURSES Virtual children’s safety classes are taught over one day or four sessions through Zoom Meeting technology.

Classes are led by a live instructor and each program includes interactive digital media to help learn key messages. Participants will need a device with camera & microphone (laptop, tablet, smart phone) as well as high-speed internet connection.

This program helps to empower children when they are dealing with untrustworthy adults, teens and peers with an easy to remember plan to get away and tell a trusted adult.

We focus on People Safety (including tricky people, getting help from a safer adult and bullying), Online Safety, Fire Safety, Travel Safety and basic first aid – including practice sessions on calling 911. All participants will receive a copy of the My Safe Life – Personal Safety for Kids manual along with their certificate by regular mail after the course has been completed.

All participants will receive a copy of the Home Alone Safety for Kids manual along with their certificate by regular mail after the course has been completed.

Topics include Care for Children of all Ages (diapering, feeding, naps/sleep, and activities), Leadership styles, Problemsolving strategies, First Aid and Accident Prevention. All participants will receive a copy of the Red Cross Babysitter’s manual along with their certificate by regular mail after the course has been completed (NOTE: 100% attendance is required for this course. REWILDING is a compilation of works weaved together by Michèle Karch-Ackerman and Tanya Zaryski. The exhibition is comprised of The Library of Dresses, a year-long exploration that involved stitching a wardrobe of dresses to honour deceased female authoresses that inspired Karch-Ackerman, and the bountiful and lush paintings of Zaryski’s isolation fueled longing for connection with friends, explorations of fairy tale lore, imaginative play, and the ‘rewilding’ of her childhood and self. Both are women and mothers, committed to an art practice that tugs at the heartstrings and explores love, nature, memory and narrative. This body of work is the culmination of a year’s worth of work and playful discovery; and many long conversations about creative process, motherhood, love, loneliness, fairy tales, and the idea of rewilding. Zaryski’s Rewilding series plays with animal companions and guides, embedded with quests and magical narratives that at first glance appear attractive and charming, but upon further inspection are not entirely safe. Intertwined with Karch-Ackerman’s Library of Dresses paying homage to authors such as Jane Austen, Mary Shelley and Emily Dickinson, the works dovetail, transporting audiences to speculative worlds of fiction, possibility and healing.
