US 136 serving as the primary eastwest corridor and State Road 267 as the primary north-south corridor. Both corridors offer access to Interstate 74, which has two nearby interchanges. The Ronald Reagan Parkway is the community’s industrial and distribution corridor, connecting Brownsburg from I-74 to I-70 and the Indianapolis International Airport.

The Town of Brownsburg works hard to ensure our parks are safe, enjoyable, and accessible for all. There are numerous ways to enjoy our parks, from universal playground features to sensory-friendly spaces during special events.
Event Accessibility
A sensory-friendly viewing area supports relaxation in overstimulating environments during special events including July 4 fireworks, Blues in the ‘Burg, and Christmas Under the Stars. These spaces provide headphones, weighted blankets, fans, and sensory bins with activities. A wheelchairaccessible temporary pathway allows visitors to easily access all event areas during outdoor events.
Park, and Williams Park, help facilitate play narration and language learning in the park by allowing children to express thoughts and feelings by pointing to pictures on display. Each communication board features common words, numbers, and symbols.
Communication Boards
Three playgrounds feature nonverbal communications boards funded by the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County to create inclusive play spaces. The boards, located at Arbuckle Acres Park, Stephens
Playground Features
Playgrounds also feature rubber surfacing for wheelchair access. Stephens Park features a universal playground with multiple features that allow children to play alongside one another. The playground
includes a Double Arch Swing and a Cozy Cocoon play feature, great for collaborative and sensory-friendly play. Additionally, a Kaliedospin Sensory Wall helps to develop hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and social skills.

HMD Motorsports INSIDE
Meet the race team that’s investing big in Brownsburg. ○ By Shelby Abner
HMD Motorsports is a racing team that has taken the motorsports world by storm. Within just three years of competing in the INDY NXT by Firestone competition, HMD Motorsports has emerged as one of the leading teams in the series – winning three championships and securing 26 victories.
HMD Motorsports was established by Henry and Daiva Malukas, who had managed HMD Trucking Inc. in Chicago for over two decades. The primary objective behind creating the team was to support their son, David Malu-
kas, in his auto racing endeavors. The team debuted in the motorsports scene in 2019 by taking over the leadership of BN Racing’s INDY NXT by Firestone (then Indy Lights) team in the middle of the season. In 2020, the team underwent a complete overhaul by hiring new personnel and relocating to Brownsburg. They initially set up a 3,500 sq. ft. shop and later expanded the space three times.
“HMD Motorsports was founded on the principle of family, which has been instrumental in our success,” said HMD Motorsports General
Manager Mike Maurini.
The team’s success results from a combination of factors including their talented drivers, experienced crew members, and top-of-the-line equipment. The team’s focus on developing young drivers has also contributed to their success.
“The goal of HMD Motorsports is to develop the next generation of racing talent,” says Maurini. “We want to provide a platform for young drivers to showcase their skills and compete at the highest levels of motorsports. We try and run our program like an IndyCar program so that when drivers get picked up to that next level, they’re ready and prepared.”
HMD Motorsports will continue to operate at full capacity in the INDY NXT by Firestone to advance drivers to the top level of North American open-wheel racing. Four HMD Motorsports graduates have progressed to the NTT IndyCar Series.
“No other team has moved as
many drivers up to IndyCar like us,” Maurini shared. “So drivers come to us knowing that if they race with us, we’ll build them up.”
HMD Motorsports’ commitment to excellence has paid off with back-to-back championship wins and ‘Rookie of the Year’ in 2023.
Mauri added, “The driver got
a championship ring when we won the championship this year. The Malukases really believe in the family-oriented business they have created, so they bought a ring for every employee to share in the success.”
As the team expanded rapidly, investing in a new facility became crucial. In 2023, the team completed
an 80,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Brownsburg, previously the Marsh building. The new facility comprises a state-ofthe-art shop and office space, enabling the team to execute many previously outsourced processes in-house.
“We started with only four employees a few years ago, but now we have expanded to a team of 65,” said Maurini. “It

makes you proud to be able to stand back and say, ‘We built this.’”
With a new state-of-the-art facility, HMD Motorsports looks to run ten full-time drivers in next year’s INDY NXT series, ranging from ages 17 to 23. The team also has a longterm dream to build up their Indy Car team and compete against bigger teams on a larger field in 2025.
With a combination of talented drivers, experienced crew members, and top-of-the-line equipment, it’s no wonder that HMD Motorsports is quickly becoming one of
the most respected teams in the Indy Lights category. As the team continues to grow and develop, there’s no doubt they will continue to make their mark on the world of motorsports.
“We’re racing against teams with more resources and experience than us. So to do what we’ve done in the timeframe that we’ve done it is pretty incredible.”

BROWNSBURG MADE IN
World-class manufacturing drives Brownsburg’s motorsports industry ○
Brownsburg’s ideal location with highway access and top racing facilities makes it a prime location for motorsports manufacturing.
Established in 2005, Don Schumacher Motorsports (DSM) was founded as a specialty parts manufacturer and R&D center for Don Schumacher Racing’s (DSR) fleet of championship-winning NHRA race cars and has since grown to become one of the leading parts suppliers for race teams competing across multiple motorsports industries. Its 20,000 sq. ft. facility includes 25 highspeed machines and a dedicated engi neering and quality team.

CHILDREN’S ART CLASSES
Children’s Art Classes is a nationwide school that offers art courses for students aged 3-18. Their proven curriculum teaches design principles and art elements while allowing students to develop their creativity.
1. Learn about different kinds of value and how to use and adequately execute various drawing tools and pencils.
2. Recreate a gridded black and white photo by drawing it onto a larger gridded paper with the correct proportions.
3. Look at the black-and-white values in the images and create shapes for the different values on the drawing paper.
4. Use an ebony pencil to fill in the various black-and-white values on the drawing.

If you’re looking for a sweet and charming spot in Brownsburg, look no further than Sweet Minis bakery, owned by Chef Casey Ward. This cozy little bakery is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. The star of the show is the miniature desserts. From tiny cupcakes to bite-sized cheesecake, every treat is perfectly portioned for a satisfying snack or a guilt-free indulgence.
Before starting her own business, Chef Casey Ward worked as a human resource consultant for over two decades. During that time, she taught small businesses about best practices, infrastructure, and employee retention. However, when the pandemic hit, Casey had to work from home and missed the social interaction that came with working in an office. She started baking to cope with the stress and later enrolled in culinary school at Ivy Tech.
“I’ve always been creative, and I think my corporate background has helped me to put it
into action,” Owner Chef Casey said.
In the meantime, Casey was working on losing weight. She lost 75 pounds and cut sugar entirely out of her diet. When she began adding sugar to her diet, she realized the minisized desserts were the perfect and fun way to enjoy cake without the guilt.
“My favorite thing about mini desserts is that everything can be personalized,” Casey said. “That’s not something you can find every day.
Sweet Minis started in 2020 in Casey’s Brownsburg home and grew quickly.
“It got to a point where my husband was like, ‘No More!’ Casey shared. “There was baking stuff in our coat closet, pantry, spare bedroom closet, and garage.”

outgrew the space within the year and made expansion plans, with Sweet Minis taking over the storefront. Casey then spent a few months renovating
the larger space before reopening in September 2023 with four staff members.
“I really wanted to create a
fun and exciting environment unlike anything else in Brownsburg,” Casey said. “I had a vision for my space, and when my contractor first started renovations, he wasn’t so sure it could happen. But as we began to see everything come together, he said, ‘Wow, this shop is really you!’”
The larger shop displays various mini desserts including mini brownies, cookies, cheesecakes, macaroons, cupcakes, gluten-free and dairyfree products, and her most popular item, ‘minitinis.’
“We typically carry about 10-12 flavors of our mintinis, or mini cakes baked directly in cute

little tins”, she explained. “You can have your own flavor of cake, whether you like lemon, German chocolate, red velvet, carrot, cookie butter, or even strawberry. Whatever you have a taste for, you can get a small cake for yourself and not have to share it with anyone.”
Despite the incredible business success, Casey says the sweetest victory has been watching her son follow in her entrepreneurial footsteps.
“I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so my parents started that path for me,” Casey explained. “They taught me that you need to have something you’re more passionate about in your life, so I always knew I would own my own business at some point. I’m instilling that same foundation and principle in my son, who started his fresh drink beverage company, Fun Drinks, in 2020.”
As Sweet Minis settles into its new location, the business plans on hosting additional DIY opportunities in 2024. Casey says there are so many different ventures that Sweet Minis could follow, and she’s excited to see what comes next for her business.
“I know there’s a bride that’s out there that’s looking for cascading mini cakes for her wedding.” So, if you’re reading this, then find me because I would love to do that for you!”

Nestled in the rolling hills of the countryside, Natural Valley Ranch is a hidden gem that covers over 78 acres of land with scenic trails including trails along the banks of White Lick Creek.
This beautiful ranch offers visitors the chance to experience the great outdoors through guided trail rides. You can schedule a reservation for a 30 or 60-minute guided trail ride that will take you through some of the most picturesque areas of the ranch. Along the way, you’ll get to see the local flora and fauna up close including a visit to the animal barns with a variety of farm
animals such as horses, cows, sheep, and goats.
If you’re interested in learning how to ride a horse, the ranch offers horseback riding lessons for all ages and levels of experience.
ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS
If you’re looking for a place to connect with farm animals, Oinking Acres Farm & Rescue
Sanctuary is the perfect destination. The property is home to various rescued animals including pigs, cows, goats, chickens, and even peacocks!
Oinking Acres is open for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays with an admission donation fee. The

farm offers the opportunity to learn about farm animals and their daily routines. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the sanc tuary to see the animals up close, learn about their backgrounds and personalities, and even participate in feeding them. While Oinking Acres is not a petting zoo, calm and gentle petting is allowed. Some pigs may even roll over for belly rubs! Be sure to walk through the barn to visit the housebroken pigs with rooms complete with TVs, blankets, and beds.

Hogan Farms offers a variety of activities that are sure to delight visitors of all ages. The main attraction, of course, is the pumpkin patch.
But that’s not all! Hogan Farms also features a challenging, themed corn maze that winds through over 10 acres of tall cornstalks. Visitors who dare to enter the maze are given a map and trivia to help guide the way. There’s also a hayride that takes visitors around the farm, providing a scenic view of the beautiful countryside.
Hogan Farms is open from late September through Halloween on select weekends. Admission fees may apply for certain activities.

Thai District brings unique flavors to downtown Brownsburg.

If you’re looking for a delicious and authentic Thai dining experience in Brownsburg, look no further than Thai District. This popular eatery, located in the heart of downtown Brownsburg, offers
a menu full of traditional Thai dishes and flavors that will surely please any food lover.
The restaurant opened in 2019, one of the first to open in the Green Street Depot in downtown Brownsburg.
“My feeling was that we needed a nice sit-down restaurant here in Brownsburg,” Co-owner Siri (June) Fiedeldey explained.
Co-owners Saowalux (Pooky) Farynd and Siri (June) Fiedeldey (pictured right) are both from Thailand, but June found a home in Brownsburg over ten years ago. June previously worked as the General Manager of Bangkok Kitchen in Avon, one of the 15 Thai restaurants Pooky owns in Indiana.
“It was perfect because, at the time, there wasn’t another Thai restaurant in Brownsburg,” Pooky added.
However, according to June, the decision to establish the company’s location in Brownsburg was based on more than just logistics.
“I love our town,” June said.

“Our community is always there to lend a helping hand whenever we need it. There was a time during winter when our heating system wasn’t working properly, but one of
our loyal customers was able to assist us in getting it fixed by the next day. We value the community and support surrounding us, and it’s an integral part of our business.”
While visitors may stop at Thai District for authentic food, Pooky and June worked hard to ensure every aspect of the diner’s experience felt like they were visiting the home of a sophisticated Thai friend, warm and inviting.
“To create a unique atmosphere, we focused on incorporating as much from Thailand as we could,” June explained. “From our
decorations to the food, service, and even music, we thought of everything to create an authentic experience for our customer.”
Thai District restaurant’s menu offers an extensive selection of Thai classics and unique dishes that cater to various palettes. From the classic Pad Thai, the spicy lemongrass Tom Yum soup, to the rich and creamy Panang curry, there’s something for everyone. The restaurant provides a range of vegetarian and vegan dishes and gluten-free options making it an excellent dining option for those with dietary restrictions. Furthermore,

CARDINAL PARK PET PANTRY OPENS AT

This important community initiative aims to support pet parents and help keep animals in loving homes. Brownsburg residents can take pride in knowing that their community is working together to support those in need, including our furry friends.
Brownsburg’s Cardinal Park has something new for visitors to check out: a pet pantry. Thanks to the hard work of Girl Scouts Alexis and Shannon from Troop 985, the first pet pantry in Brownsburg has been installed within the park. The pet pan try is similar to local blessing boxes providing food, treats, and supplies to pet owners struggling to provide for their furry friends. The Girl Scouts raised funds for the pet pantry by selling over 1,000 boxes of cookies as part of their Silver Award project, and now pet owners can leave any donations they can spare and take what they need for their pets.
